  • This was a very nice hotel, and we had a great stay. Everybody was friendly and helpful, and though we didnt use the concierge or fitness facilities, they appeared to be right up the the rest of the high standards of the hotel. I chose the Affinia 50 based on reviews from this site, and must say that the reviews were understated as far as I was concerned. We stayed on the 4th floor, 416, and contrary to a few reviews found the room reasonably quite, very good A/C, and the elevator service to be quick. All the other services we used were 1st class and quickly performed. We mostly left early and came back late, but usually stopped back in the early evening to freshen up and such. The overall experience of using the subway, getting around using taxi service, or walking was very easy from this location. You are only a couple of blocks from the shopping area, Madison Ave, 5th Ave, ect. Its a little farther walk, but we walked to Times Sq once, just while wandering around, when we first arrived. You are also just a block from the Waldorf-Astoria, and you should walk through the lobby there just for the history and architecture. I am already planning another trip to NYC, and will certainly include the Affinia 50 in my plans.

  • This was a very nice hotel, and we had a great stay. This hotel is very close to alot of attractions in NYC. There is no resturant in the hotel but I did not find this to be a problem there are plenty of places to eat around the hotel. I would recommend the Red Stone Pizzaria (they sell far more than just pizza and priced really resonable and they are like right around the corner from the hotel. I can not wait to come back to NYC and stay at this hotel again.

  • Couldnt have picked a better place to stay! We had 6 people in our room, we were in a jr. suite. It had 2 queen size beds and a queen size pull out sleeper, which they made up for us every night. The shower drain was stopped up and as soon as we called, they sent someone up and fixed it. When we needed extra towels or wash clothes they were delivered to us right away. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The doormen were always there to help you if you needed a taxi, or help with your packages. If you needed info just call down to the desk. They had all kinds of snacks and assortment of drinks (sodas, juice, iced coffees, wine and liquor) in the room for you if you wanted them, but they were very costly. I did not use any of these, I brought mine from outside of the hotel because they were much cheaper. The beds were great to sleep in, did not wake up with a back ache like I normally do...lol. Everything we wanted to do and to see was within walking distance of the Affinia 50, I am so glad we choose this place to stay and I will come back to this place to stay again.

  • Great centeral location. Staff was very nice, so thankful for the early check in. Room was better than expected. Very neat and clean. And the bed...it was so comfy after a long day of walking! I have not slept so good in a long time! This is a very good hotel.

  • Everything about this hotel went above and beyond our expectations, since this was our first trip to NYC. Good location, FABULOUS STAFF,SUPERIOR SERVICE, the linens and beds were fantastic (this from avowed hotel-phobics - they jumped right into the beds and under the sheets!) From the moment we stepped off the shuttle until we departed we were treated like royalty - A, B, C, D, E, everyone was wonderful......you can tell these folks really enjoy their jobs! If possible, upgrade to the jr. suites, having the kitchen and the pullout couch made a big difference in what we would have spent on drinks, breakfast, snacks, etc. The room was huge, spotless, the bathroom stocked with Aveda products. We will definitely plan another trip and stay here!

  • When checked into Affinia 50 we were warmly greeted and the front desk made sure to make us feel comfortable. They even went out their way on several occassions. We stayed in a Guest Room - perfect for 2, very modern decor and nice view. The location is excellent - walk to Rockefeller, MOMA, St Patricks and subway around the block! Ess-a-Bagel is right across the street - SO GOOD! We will definitely go back to Affinia 50.

  • My stay was a combination of business and leisure as I brought along my 11 year old daughter. The staff treated her like she was a queen and a large part of my delight with the hotel service lies in how my daughter was treated. We took advantage of the advanced Concierge services including requesting the walking tour kit which came with a loaded iPod and travel guide for us to borrow during our stay. This was full of helpful information!! The ""jet set kids"" package was an absolute delight for my daughter and contained far more top-quality items than I had expected including her own digital camera to keep! (an inexpensive one, but such a nice treat for her!). Beds were comfortable, rooms clean and quiet, and the view from our balcony was breathtaking. We didnt mind walking a lot so we logged many miles to get our shopping and sightseeing done. Major areas a hefty walk or a short and inexpensive cab ride away. The staff was exceptionally helpful with each and every encounter that we had with them and we felt 100% secure during our trip. We would definitely stay here again or possibly one of the other Affinia hotels in order to sample a different ""neighborhood"". Plenty of restaurants/markets nearby for food and beverages. Of course the in-room snacks are pricey but this is true at all hotels and these were not out of line for normal in-room self-serve items. The Club Room is a nice treat and I imagine if wed stayed longer wed have made even more use out of it. We did not try the hotel breakfast and instead had a wonderful breakfast delivered from ""Zamz"" a few blocks away!

  • My husband and I had been to NYC before, and we loved it. This time we took the kids. We needed a room or suite to acomodate the 6 of us. One room would be cheaper than 2. We wanted something clean, and adequate enough for resting and showering. We planned to see the city, not be in a hotel room. To our surprise, our experience at this hotel was fantastic. The room, suite style was big enough to be comfortable for the 6 of us. (Four children ages 13 to 21). We had a small, but complete kitchen that we used for snacks and lite meals. I asked to have removed all the snacks and drinks the hotel provided.(Too expensive!) They do provide free coffee and tea. There is a mini store down the street with cheaper snacks. Great storage space. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though we booked for 6 people they only provided towels for four, I would call and within minutes have extra towels delivered. The staff was helpful in providing a map of the area, and with general questions. I emphasize very nice staff, and we met a few of them throughout our stay. This hotel is walking distance from Rockefeller Center, Times Square, St Patricks Cathedral, Central Park South, and also many stores and eating places. We had a decent breakfast at PAX around the corner almost everyday, for a great price! Great desserts too. One of the Subway entrances is down the street. We enjoyed our stay and would love to go back!

  • There were 6 woman on this trip. We had 3 rooms with 2 double beds in each. The rooms were a nice size and very clean. The hotel staff were very helpful. We were close to great shopping on 5th Avenue. We loved this hotel and will probably go back in the future!

  • There were 6 woman on this trip. We had 3 rooms with 2 double beds in each. The rooms were a nice size and very clean. The hotel staff were very helpful. We were close to great shopping on 5th Avenue. We loved this hotel and will probably go back in the future!

  • This hotel was great. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location was convenient. Our room was spaceous, clean and comfortable. We booked a Junior Suite with two queen beds. The attention to detail was impressive. We went to their Concierge service online before we arrived and requested the pillow menu and other requirements. The temperature in the room was comfortable and controllable to our liking. We even stopped by for the wine and cheese social for a short time. The bellman x was so sweet and helpful. We ( me and my sister) went to New York to celebrate our older sisters 70th birthday. She walks with a cane for assisitence. X honored our requests that we made ahead of time regarding this. We couldnt believe the amenities for the price. This hotel contributed to the great memories we have of our trip to the Big Apple for our celebration. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and we will be staying there again. Since we travel quite a bit here and abroad, we have experienced many situatiions. This was definitely a good choice.

  • This hotel was great. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location was convenient. Our room was spaceous, clean and comfortable. We booked a Junior Suite with two queen beds.   • 48 year old world traveler mom, 2 young adult daughters including one with a physical disability, and one 60+ friend stayed in a one bedroom suite here and loved it. Suite was roomy by any standard, but the best part was the really friendly, helpful staff. From the front desk to the bellmen to the club room attendants, these were very nice people. Kitchens in the suite are small but complete, and bathroom was sufficient, but with a poorly designed sink that leaked over the edges of the counter. The suite was acceptably clean. The two queen beds in the bedroom were very comfortable, but the fold out bed in the living room couch was barely OK for our older friend. Two of us used the fitness room, and all the equipment worked and was clean. Every request we had was answered quickly and positively. We saw the staff helping others as well, with the same level of excellent service we enjoyed. There are many restaurants in the area, as well as a drug store, grocery store, ATM, and wine/liquor store. Bellmen were able to flag taxis/town cars within 5 minutes of our request. Affinia 50 has a wine/cheese reception in the club room Monday-Thursday, which was a nice touch. For travelers with a physical disability, the hotel has no stairs at the entry, and no stairs required in the lobby for elevator access, but there is a slight ramped incline. Our room next to the elevator was wheelchair accessible.

  • I enjoyed my stay at the Affina 50. My room was well appointed,quiet with a wonderful view of the river. Museum. There are many places to eat around there and it is only 9 blocks from Bloomingdales. The staff are all very accomidating.

  • We visited NYC with our 18 yr. old daughter, and were delighted by how roomy our suite was. Large bedroom and livingroom plus a galley kitchen. Clean, bright and modern. The bed was ultra comfortable. A great location, quiet neighbourhood in the heart of Midtown. Walk to 5th avenue, Rockefeller Central Park and Times Square. One block to subway, a great way to get around town. Staff was great. Plenty of restaurants within a couple of blocks. Fresh fruit vendor up the street and a deli around the corner. We feel we got lucky finding this hotel and we will be back.

  • Went on a vacation. The Affinia was the pefect place to rest at the end of a busy day.Our room was huge and wonderfully appointed. The service was spectacular...especially Rome the doorman! We would stay here again. It was awesome!!

  • I bought this night in New York for my boyfriend and I as his Christmas present since we were seeing the car show. The afternoon staff was a bit rude but not too bad and we had to wait for our room. I was annoyed with them trying to downgrade us to a queen but oh well, over all it was quiet clean and the rooms were huge for NYC!!   • We needed hotel for a quick trip to NYC for medical reasons. The hotel/room was very clean. The hotel is smoke free so we never risked getting a smoking room. no stale smell, no air freshener. Yeah!.The desk staff was nice & friendly. Check in/out was speedy. The gym is small as expected but has nice gym quality equipment and a tv. The lobby small but contemporary stylish, non traditional. 2nd floor has a nice free lounge, more like a family room to meet with family/friends with fireplace, books, games, and tv. nice setup.The room was basic but clean. bathroom was very clean and basic except for stylish sink/cabinet. Shower pressure was decent and can control temp.Bed was pillow top, super comfy!!!. Pillows were so-so but you can call for a different pillow off the pillow menu, no kidding. I didnt. The room was toasty warm. Bed linens nice.We stayed mid-week, the hotel was quiet so we got a good nights sleep.Location was good, a few blocks from Christmas Tree and Saks. Several restuarants within a few blocks on 3rd.

  • The Affinia 50 has lovely big rooms and really comfortable beds. The people are really nice and helpful. The location is great - a great breakfast spot is two doors up and there are loads of other restaurants nearby. Dont worry that there is no restaurant in the hotel. Try Chin Chin for great Chinese food - it is only a block away!

Booked a junior suite and was very impressed with the size of the beds, the really quite huge room, as well as a small lounge area and a small kitchen area. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent - just a few minutes walk away from the best part of 5th avenue. If there were any cons, it would be the relatively expensive wireless rate and that the rooms were initially a bit hot (althrough the air con seemed to improve after a couple of days).In all, great value for money and Ill certainly be considering this hotel for my next stay.

  • If youre looking for the best comfortable sleep in the big city Affinia 50 is there for you. Not only is it close by to nearby shops and restaurants but you are in the center of Midtown. The BEST part of my stay here at Affinia 50 was the welcome we received and that they remembered who we were. This was our second stay at the hotel not only for the comfortable beds but the exceptional service we get from the staff. Kudos to you all! We will be seeing you guys again next year!

  • The trip went without a flaw. Northwest air was pretty much on schedule. I wish they had inboard entertainment though.The shuttle ride from """"Golden"""" was nicley on time for all trips and the hotel was perfect. We loved our room and the location. The whole arrangements you made for us were much more than expected and made the whole trip really romantic.Thank you

  • Two adults with a 12 year old and 9 year old stayed here for spring break. First, the hotel was pretty, clean, quiet, and spacious; excellent location; very attentive staff. I recommend getting a room with the kitchen which we found very convenient. Grocery store is one block away, also the subway is very close at Lexington and 51st. We cant wait to go back!
