  • Honestly I was very disappointed with this hotel. It is outdated and not well maintained.Other than the location, which I was happy to pay the premium, the hotel itself is at best a 3 Start.Worst of all was the staff. You can not find a person in this hotel who is willing to provide you with any customer service. They act like they wished you had not booked at their hotel.I travel weekly and stay in 3 star hotels for work with better service. On vacation, we always stay in the best we can find.I do not stay in Holiday Inns - I should have known better than to pick this hotel.Unless you must be on Times Sq. do not waste your money.

  • I stayed here only on business however I found the rooms and room service not work the money. You cant beat the location right in the heart of Times Square. There are many hotels there which are much cheaper. Some major updating should be consider. You do not get the bang for your buck. I will only stay here again if it is only for business reasons.

  • I stayed here only on business however I found the rooms and room service not work the money. You cant beat the location right in the heart of Times Square. There are many hotels there which are much cheaper. Some major updating should be consider. You do not get the bang for your buck. I will only stay here again if it is only for business reasons.

  • The good news is this hotel is undergoing some badly needed renovations. The bad news is it wont help the staff at the front desk. When we stepped off the elevator the carpet was duct-taped and had five inch high wrinkles. The room looked like it had been furnished at a yard sale. Wall paper was patched, carpet was burned and stained, furniture was battered, toilet paper dispenser was covered in rust, grout in tile was stained/moldy, bottom of bathroom door appeared to have been chewed off, and the bolt lock did not work. Add to that the layer of dust that you could actually write on. If there is a problem with your reservation or room rate you were quoted, youre on your own. The Front Desk is NOT going to help you. They actually act as if its an inconvenience that you are staying at their hotel. They should be paying you to stay there. There are many hotels in the Times Square area and this is not the one you want to be at, unless you are feeling the need to be disgusted and disrespected.

  • The hotel was great. Located in Time Square, near subway entrance, and walking distance from numerous attractions. The room was clean with a great view. The only thing I would not do again is the Golden Touch shuttle to and from the airport. I checked into it, and a taxi is a couple of bucks more, but faster and you dont have to ride around town picking up other people like you do with the shuttle. Would stay again, in fact my wife wants to go back and stay at the Crown Plaza!

  • We stayed here. For the price i wasnt to upset that the lounge wasnt open or the internet room. I dont even think the dinning room was open allthough we wouldent have eaten there anyway. Staff was perfect and our room was wonderfull. Once construction is done this should be a much better place to stay...

  • So its not the Ritz but it never promised that it was. We were able to check into our room at 9:00 AM and were upgraded to a corner room on the 35th floor with a view of Times Square and the Empire State Building for only $ per night! The room was clean and spacious by NYC standards. The front desk staff were a little snotty but the rest of the staff were delightful. Housekeeping was warm and friendly. One of the windows was ajar when we checked in and the bellman who delivered our bags did not know how to fix it. He called maintenance from our room and they were there in 10 minutes and fixed the window. We had a late departure flight and inquired about a late check-out. We were allowed to stay until 2:00 for free and then up to 6:00 for an additional $25 per hour. We paid the $100 and were able to have the room until 1 hour before needing to leave for the airport. The hotel also has a business center that can be used for 20 minutes for free so we were able to print our boarding passes. The restaurant is expensive (just like every other hotel in NYC - $15 for pancakes) so we went to a diner around the corner. Security is at the elevators and doors late at night and you are not allowed to go past them without showing your room key which is comforting. The hotel was not outstanding but for our weekend get away it was a perfect choice. I guess if I had spent a lot for the room I would have been disappointed but for such a great rate it was fantastic.

  • Avoid this hotel at all costs. The rooms are old and seem as if they have never been cleaned. Even the ones that arent saturated with cigarette smoke still have a slight unclean odor. The bathrooms are dingy with slow moving clogged drains. The towels were dirty and also reeked of cigarette smoke. Worst of all, the staff and rude and unhelpful and treats their guest with total disregard. Dont bother to complain about anything because the staff will simply blow you off. They could not care less. If you want to stay in Times Square go elsewhere. There are numerous other hotels in the same area that are much cleaner with much friendlier staff. Try the New Yorker, the W, the Edison or the Peninsula.

  • Having never stayed in New York City before some of my friends and I decided to make it happen. After searching over and over for hotels we were pleasantly surprised that not only did Crown Plaza have availability, they were also reasonably priced considering their location and what other hotel rates were at that time. We booked 2 rooms for the 5 of us and looked forward to the trip for quite a while. Unfortunately the actual trip was no where near what we had hoped for. We waited 1 hour in line to check-in because there were only 3 front desk attendants at prime checkin time. Our 2nd room was not ready, which we first understood b/c we also work in a resort and understand things get backed up sometimes. We were told to check back in 30 minutes and instead we just stopped back on our way out to dinner 1 hour later.... still not ready. On our way back into the hotel at 2:30am we were finally given our key and went upstairs to sleep. We entered our 2nd room and to much disgust we found the room had not been cleaned or monitored at all... 10.5 hours AFTER checkin time! From there we found no understanding or assistance from the staff at the hotel. They made little effort to rectify the situation and only b/c one of us actually had to sleep on the floor did they even want to give us any form of compensation. The fact that our 2nd room didnt need to be paid for was enough for them... the room that was never cleaned to begin with! For the reputation that the Crown Plaza has across the world, I would certainly not want to be associated with this property.

  • While planning a girls long weekend and reading some of the reviews I was a little worried HOWEVER I would stay here again. We had a room with two double beds and there was plenty of room for 4 of us all women. The hotel staff was very nice and alway quick for whatever we needed. We needed extra towels. Rooms were clean and nice. Location is perfect and and very safe place to stay. You can walk everywhere from here and if you dont want to walk you can take the subway. Beds were very comfortable. Dont go by the other negative reviews. I would stay here again!!!!!!!

  • It was our first time to New York, we arrived with luggage and we were NOT ABLE to check in till 4 hours LATER.. To top it all off our room keys did not work! We winded up spending an EXTRA HOUR in the room hall way! Bad Service experience! We were so tired by the time we got in our rooms, that the first night of our New York stay was spent falling asleep as soon as we were able to put our luggage and selves inside!!!!

  • 2nd stay in NY...had a great time! Spent many nights in the hotel bar and the bartenders and wait staff are the best around. Very friendly and funny! Can't wait to get back to NY! Love the security at the elevators at night - especially for women staying alone.

  • I stayed there April 10-14, 2007 in rooms 2815 and 2823. Found a bug actually biting me and killed it, did not know it was a bedbug until I got home and found another on me and looked it up on the internet. BEDBUGS!! I contacted the hotel and they never replied to or returned my calls. I guess they don't care about their guests, just the lining of their pockets!!

  • The hotel is currently being rennovated. We found that out on our arrival. They informed us that they were overbooked. We were given a room, with a view of Times Square, and moved to an ""UPGRADED"" room, with a view of other buildings, the next afternoon. Our ""UPGRADE"" was just like our original room except it came with a water leak. We were given breakfast vouchers for the inconvience. I will not stay there again.

  • We visited NYC 2/6-2/8 to see 3 Broadway plays. The location was excellent, we walked to them all. I felt very safe in the hotel. After 11pm, the doorman has to see your room key to let you enter. The rooms have been remodeled since I was there in January 2007, they were clean, smelled great, and I slept like a baby. It was wonderful. We ate in the restaurant, the service was perfect, the staff was so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Every staff member I encountered was courteous, helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, both times I have stayed there have been wonderful experiences.

  • I took my daughter on a spring break weekend. We had priority points for 2 free nights and paid the ""internet special"" for the other nights. We were first put in a room with a mattress laying on a boxspring on the floor and the carpet was filthy, when we inquired about the bed we were told ""they like to accomodate all kinds of people"" (I guess very small), and that all of their beds are that way. The third time going to the front desk, we were finally put in a different room (close to the maid closet) The beds were much better, the room a little cleaner, but at 4 am every morning we would hear the cleaning staff laughing and talking while getting their supplies together. Still havent figured out what the benefit of a priority card is. We will not stay in this hotel again. We go to New york several times a year and stay in other brand hotels and have never been so disrespected and disgusted.
