  • This will be my second and last stay at the Dylan. It has lost its ability to deliver the trendy luxurious experience I remember from my last visit. My room was in total disrepair between the worn carpet, worn and nicked furniture and the mold in the bathroom. I found the mini bar half full, and the service to the room slow or non-existent. I should not have to supply the concierge with all the information to a restaurant to have a simple reservation made. With so many other good hotels in New York this was a huge disappointment, and I won?t be returning.

  • My wife and I stayed for a few days while we were up for the lighting of the tree. It was a short walk to any of the sites that we were interested in seeing. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was actually bigger than we thought it would be, after seeing so many of the comments about Manhatten rooms. Im only now writing this review because Im about to book another stay at the Dylan!

  • Beware that the pictures of this hotel are very deceiving, and do not accurately depict what you see when you get there. First, the main lobby smelled extremely musty - perhaps due to the construction surrounding the facade of the building. Second, when we entered our room, we noticed a foul odor, somewhat like a public restroom. When we went into the bathroom and opened the shower curtain, we saw over a dozen 1/2 inch sized black beetle-like bugs crawling around the shower. The front desk refused to change our room until after we told them that we were leaving the hotel.

  • I was in the city for eye operation and needed to be in the room afterward and the TV did not work. We reported it 4 times and finally at 10:30 p.m. the night before we checked out, someone came because the bartender from the restaurant who we complained to, took care of it. Didnt help my eye situation though. Quiet room, small bedroom and bathroom but you come to expect that in NYC. I found the price through Travelocity was good. The restaurant and waiters were great there and highly recommend Benjamin Steak House. I saw potential in the place to do well because of the great location but they need to work on their staff before calling a"" luxe "" hotel as they do. I would not stay again. There are too many to choose from.

  • We thought that The Dylan Hotel was a great location, just a few blocks from Grand Central Station, but the service and demeanor of the staff was not great. We requested some pillows the night that we arrived due to an allergy and several phone calls later, more feather pillows arrived at 12:30 am. The next day and several more phone calls, still no pillows. We had to find the maid ourselves and she was the only one to honor our request. The decor in our room was nice but it was run down. The carpet, furniture and walls are in need of some repair. Overall, it was OK but not as nice or friendly as our past experiences.

  • This hotel fell very far short of my expectations as a smart New York boutique hotel. The room was disappointingly scruffy in decor and for $* for 4 nights I expected a something better than this.

  • My wife and I were in NYC for the U.S. Open. Hotel is in good location, 1 1/2 blocks from Grand Central, 4 blocks from Times Square/Broadway. The adjoining restaurant, Benjamin Steak House, is very nice. Room was small, but had food/beverage bar, coffee pot, wine glasses. Bathroom had shower only, had bowl sink with no counter, bed was fine. Real problem was when TV cable went out after 1 day and was off for remainder of our stay (next 3 days). Wanted to keep up with football scores, tennis highlights, etc. (Also, before TV went out, hotel didnt get USA network, so couldnt see any matches). Hotel staff said TV cable was out in the area - but, had friends at Grand Hyatt, and we ended up watching matches in their nice hotel bar on big screens. As I asked about it and complained 4 or 5 times, it was always going to be repaired that particular day (never was). Staff should have at least offered us a complimentary breakfast at the Benjamin. It was an amenity they were to provide and didnt, regardless of who was at fault. As I had prepaid room/air travel through Travel website, I didnt get into any rate reduction with them, etc. Probably can do better in this area of NYC.

  • I was very leery of staying in a lesser price hotel and my friend made the arangements on Travel website. I looked up the hotel and was ready to book some where pricier when I decided to phone the hotel. I spoke with Oscar at the front desk who assured me not only would he be at the hotel the next night when I was staying he would make sure our rooms were to our liking. He also told me all about parkingmy car valet (which we did and it wasw great) On our way, we got lost int he one way streets and who answerd the phone but Oscar. He was not at the desk whne we arrived but came out to greet us! Our was great as he promised, the starched white sheets on the bed dispelled anynotions of bedbugs and the location was great for an early morning run into Central park the next day which was very memorable.the theme of "" chemistry"" was cleverly done in beakers and petri dishes in the bath. the bathroom was great. We are looking forward to ur return trip! Every hotel should have at least one Oscar!!!

  • They book it as a luxury hotel, but, though nice, it was really very ordinary. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff was nice and helpful. The rooms were tiny as were the bathrooms. Only a shower, no tub. The sink didnt have a counter. Closet only big enough for a couple of days worth of clothes. Curtains wouldnt close; staff had to use staples to keep them closed.

  • We did not enjoy our stay at the Dylan. The rooms look nice with high ceilings and good designs and the beds are very comfortable but that was it. The 24 hour business center advertised on the internet is currently closed which was extremely inconvenient as we use the facilities to check into flights, and where other hotels will be happy to do that for you via the concierge or front desk, we were sent on a walk to the nearest Kincos in the rain with no apology for the trouble....the same front desk assistant was our non smiling check in lady who gave us no indication of the facilities the hotel had to offer (or indeed which were not available...), no suggestion of a map or any help with the city although we were clearly tourists, and reluctantly changed our room when we found we had a twin instead of a double although it took some insistence before she actually would move us. The water pressure in our bathroom was so poor that we had to have maintenance come and work on it before we could use it, and in the meantime we had to ask housekeeping for robes as although they are a feature of the rooms, apparently they are not provided automatically and you have to ask for them so if you need to call maintenance to work on the shower, ask for your robes to be brought up first....! The bathroom also is very smart but terribly designed, no shelf in the shower so all bottles have to be put on the floor and no space around the sink to put anything, its extremely impractical. All in all for the same money in a similar great location there are plenty of other hotels that are better.

  • I got a little nervous after reading some of these reviews, but was pleasantly surprised when I got there. Yes, the staff is a little cold, but the room we had was clean, quite spacious, and as the photos promised. I can understand complaints about the bathroom having no shelf space, but it didnt hinder me as badly as they made it out to be. I guess if youre bringing your entire closet of bathroom toiletries, it would. Some problems: there was a mildew issue, but the staff was already on it. Temperature was hard to control; got freezing despite all my attempts. We were taking the train back to the airport, but another couple needed a taxi and were told to find one by walking up to the corner of the street. One thing I didnt understand was that they couldnt provide us with a receipt when we checked out. We were coldly informed that the travel agency would handle that. What? Its not the first time Ive ever booked through an online service. Has anyone else ever had that experience? If the staff is so bitter to customers who go through other online booking services, then maybe they should offer COMPETITIVE PRICES on their own site.Highlights: location is AMAZING! RIght next to Grand Central and a couple blocks across from Bryant Park/library. Also, I felt safe in the room, and leaving my stuff in the room. There is a safe available, for those who are extra cautious.
