  • Right in the heart of all the activity of the Theatre District and a short walk to everything in Mid-town. Rooms were typically NY small but very well appointed with wonderful beds. The Hotel is finishing renovations so although there were great flat screen TVs the channels were limited until the new system is installed. Rooms were upscale and clean and the staff was very helpful and attentive. Concierge was great at getting us transportation back to JFK.One big drawback is that the building next door was recently demolished and they are still jack hammering out the old foundation. Ask for a room away from that side of the building if you want to sleep past 5:30 a.m. Overall, a very positive experience in a great location. It was a good hotel if you travel with teens (and dont mind a lack of privacy due to a smaller room) with a nice size bath and big flufy towels. We do plan on staying there again on our next trip to the Big Apple.

  • Our family stayed at The Muse Dec 21st - 24th and we were exceptionally pleased with the hotel and the location. From check-in to check-out everything at The Muse was as a hotel should be. The whole staff was attentive and very friendly. It was so nice to see the check-in staff taking care of a guests puppy while they were out. We had 2 rooms and both were clean and very nicely appointed. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. My boys and I liked the LOccitane citrus scented soap so much, my wife bought us some when we got home. We wull be back.

  • First and foremost, our visit to NYC was great. However, our stay at The Muse was disappointing. The good news is that the hotel is well situated for Times Square and all the activities for NYC. The hotel is nicely furnished and well kept. Our room was a nice size and was clean. The bad is that this hotel is probably the noisiest hotel that we have ever stayed in (and we have traveled quite a bit). The trash on 46th Street (and all NY streets) is picked up during the middle of the night. Well - believe us. You HEAR every trash bag being thrown. If you are okay with going to sleep after 3am then you will be okay with the noise. Additionally, the bar patrons that leaving the closing bars also are very loud. 2 out of 4 nights there were fights in the street which added to the ambiance.Another negative was the lack of knowledge that the concierge(s) had regarding the city and the location attractions. Either they are fairly new or they are have been poorly selected for this responsibility. Simply disappointing,Overall - the hotel is nice. However, we would not rate it a four star experience based on our comments above. A high three might be more appropriate and perhaps a stretch at that. The Muse could have done better.

  • The location can not be beat for visiting NYC. You can walk most places and if you are taking the subway, there are several stations close by. Even though you are close to Times Square the hotel is very quiet. The rooms were very nice. They were plenty big enough for 4 people and the bath room was over sized. We enjoyed the coffe in the morninga, along with the NY Times. In the evening we made time for the wine reception. The gentleman that worked the front door were always very pleasant, courteous, and helpful. We got a great rate through Travelocity. I would definitely recommend for anyone visiting NY.

  • The staff at the hotel are wonderful. Always willing to help from check in to check out. They always greeted us when we came in and left. They gave great advice on resturants and direction. We had a little mix up when we first checked in and they did all they could to fix it. it is just a wonderful hotel. very clean, very room. We got one of their newly renovated rooms and they are beautiful. We took our son with us and they were always very kind to him also.

  • RODENTS! There was a mouse in my room on my first night!!! Since it was after midnight, I had taken a sleeping pill, and had a huge exam the next morning, I chose not to make a huge fuss and simply moved my trash can (where it had gone into a plastic bag with food inside) into the hallway. When I got back to the hotel the next evening I told the front desk. Barely apologetic, they moved me to a different room, which was smaller, and nonsmoking (though I had originally booked a smoking room). No discount, no upgrade! Exhausted and in no mood to switch rooms again or put up a fight, I resigned myself to posting this review. OTHER PROBLEMS - My phone line was blocked in my first room and I could not receive incoming calls. They sent an engineer to my room, who then told me it was an issue at the front desk. The front desk then called up-- turns out theyd had my phone line closed the whole time. - No slippers were provided -- I had to call twice before any were brought to my room.- The exercise bike in my first room had a broken monitor. My first night, the featherbed had tons of little feathers that poked through the (worn) sheets. The bed the second night was better.SERVICE: Aside from the problemsabove, the service was OK. No doorman to help flag taxis. One woman was friendly but the rest of the staff seemed aloof and reluctant to help. Im still shocked at how poorly they handled the mouse situation. FOOD: Limited room service menu. $30 american breakfast was disappointing: good eggs but terrible, dry potatoes. OTHER OPTIONS: The Benjamin has big clean rooms, great beds, perfect service, and similar rates!

  • We love to go to NYC for a heavy dose of broadway shows. The Muse is perfect for this, and will now be our top choice. The room was bigger than in most boutique hotels, and new furnishings were posh, comfortable, and hightech. Our i-pod and i-phone plugged right into the radio for charging and playing, and the large LCD TV was great too. We never heard a peep from other guests or the outside world once we closed the door. The lobby is small, but its got all of these chaise lounges that are great for hanging out when getting ready for a show. We got 2 free newspapers delivered to our door each morning (including the $5 Sunday Times), and the staff was quick to provide extra towels and shampoo when asked. And the soap and shampoo is fabulous! We never waited more than a minute for the elevator (sometimes a problem in NYC). And we were just steps away from the Bway theaters, but far enough off times square to avoid the crazy crowds. Didnt eat at the restaurant, but they had a free dessert bar and free wine tasting that was great. Well be back for sure.

  • The Muse was a great choice for visiting mid Manhattan. We happened to get a very reasonable rate (although most of the time the rates are a bit too expensive). The service from the front desk and bellhop was excellent. The restaurant needs some improvement. The menu was very limited, uninteresting and overpriced. The complimentary wine hour was a nice touch. We had a corner room, which was relatively quiet and had nice views. The decor was great. There is a deli on the corner of 46th and Sixth (Europa Cafe) that is good for a quick breakfast. There is also a more modern coffee shop north a block or two on Sixth -- on the east side of Sixth with a variety of coffees and also has chia tea. Theaters are all within walking distance. The same day half price ticket booth is just a few blocks away.

The location is perfect,You walk to the corner and you are in TimesSquare. The beds and bedding are luxurious. The rooms are big and the bathrooms have great toiletries. The place we first booked had scaffolds all around it and was very noisy so we were very happy we got to stay at the Muse. And if you are someone who has never been to the city(we were a few women from tennessee) you cant go wrong.

  • The front desk staff was incredibly rude. We had to change room 2 times, once because the room smelled like an ash tray, the second time because there were people already in the room. They then told us that they needed a credit card that would not be charged. The card was indeed charged $300 dollars for """"incidentals"""" which we were not informed of during check-in. When asking the staff about this, they were extremely rude, unapologetic, and making jokes when we were visibly upset. Would never go back here again. Appaling.

  • Steps from Times Square, this is one beautiful hotel. Very quiet. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Our room was stunning it its decor and comfort. We had room service for breakfast on our last morning and it was excellent; it actually cost less than eating in a restaurant. While the hotel does not have rollaway loaners for guests, it did provide us with extra bedding and a futon-like mattress for our visiting daughter. Hotels only flaw was that when we requested info on theater tickets prior to our trip, no one called us back. Thankfully we had not relied on that info, but got our tickets ahead of time. Overall, we would give the Muse a 9 out of 10 for service and satisfaction. We will be going back.

  • Overall the hotel was amazing. One of the best beds I have evr slept in. The rooms were on the small side for the price that you are going to pay for them but it wouldnt keep from staying there again. Room service was fast and super easy. Location wise, its not bad. Half a block from Broadway and Times Square so its pretty convenient when you just need to rest for a while, you wont have to travel far. Wonderful Hotel. The amenities were great and the people were very helpful in giving advice on where to go, and things to do. Really nice when you have never been to NYC before.

  • Id stay again in a heartbeat! My husband and I stayed here this past weekend (3/14-3/16) along with my mother. Rooms: Both were impeccably clean...had king beds... rooms were spacious enough (it is NYC). Lovely bathroom. Quiet! We were VERY pleased.MINOR Complaint: Key cards werent working but they did remedy this situation and the staff was EXTREMELY accommodating. Complaint: My mothers room was #502. The A/C and fan were NOT working so the room would not cool down. She called to complain after the first night of 81 degree temperatures in the room. They came up to ""fix"" it but the coolest the room ever got was 71 and it still slowly creeped up. It was very uncomfortable. Our room (#510) was perfectly fine. So it was definitely an isolated problem - but a problem.Location: FABULOUS! Located on W 46th St between 6th & 7th Ave. If you walk out of the hotel and go left to 7th Ave, you are in the heart of Times Square. If you walk out of the hotel and walk right, youre minutes from Rockefeller Ctr. Perfect. Subway is a short walk. Parking: They have valet for $48/day but we parked ourselves in the garage which is practically next door for $33 a day+tax=$80 for 2 days + an extra hour.Staff: Extremely friendly and accommodating. Not one complaint about staff.Dining: Restaurant was closed. We took advantage of the free continental breakfast downstairs (level ""LL"") & it was lovely. We did not attend the evening wine reception or order room service. We went to Bond 45 (recommendation from the front desk). Its located on W 45th, I believe-VERY good Italian fare. Expensive, but everything in NY is, I suppose.

  • Id stay again in a heartbeat! My husband and I stayed here this past weekend (3/14-3/16) along with my mother. Rooms: Both were impeccably clean...had king beds... rooms were spacious enough (it is NYC). Lovely bathroom. Quiet! • The staff was so courteous and friendly, they treated us like family! The beds were very comfortable, and the robes were plush! The concierge, Marti, was outstanding, getting us great seats to see The Color Purple! Breakfast, our favorite meal, in the dining area was divine and delicious! The bell men were courteous and good looking, too! We had a ball! Thanks for making our first trip to New York fun, enjoyable, and an overall success!!

  • My daughter and I were in town for the Winwood/Clapton concert at MSG. I did some research on the hotel, and others in the area, but was basically trusting the reviews I read, and it turned out to be a really good choice to stay at the Muse. Clean rooms, beautiful decor, all of the staff we were in contact with were friendly, professional, helpful, no exceptions. A very comfortable, classy, and desirably located place to stay in the city. It was another part of what was a memorable and enjoyable journey.

  • In typical Kimpton fashion, the Muse Hotel is a wonderful boutique hotel that has a modern designed but is very friendly and inviting. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were wonderful. I had a suite that had a comfortable couch/sitting area separate from the bedroom. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor was fun. the amenities are really good and if youve forgotten any of the basics -- they have them there in the room.. they may charge you for things like a razor -- but much easier than having to go shop for them.

  • My Fiance brought me to NY to propose and we stayed at the Muse Hotel. He proposed in Central Park and when we got back to the hotel room to change for dinner there were rose petals everywhere and even a bottle of champagne... The hotel staff really went all out to make sure that our whole proposal weekend was unforgettable!!

  • The heat was broken in this room and many others for two of our three days. So we were cold most of the time. They gave us ONE extra blanket when we asked. There were two of us and two beds for a reason. Then on the day we were due to leave, the toilet was backed up and not usable. The wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom, the table was wobbly, they had an obvious cheap and shoddy mend to the porcelain bathtub and they only gave one bar of soap and shampoo/conditioner for two people to use for three days! They had no computer access for anyone who did not bring their own laptop. While the location was good, it was not worth the money. So, I would not stay there again, nor could I recommend anyone else to do so either. The staff were friendly and courteous, but they apparently dont commuicate well with their fellow workers. What you ask on one shift does not translate into action for the next. In fact, they act as though they never heard the requests before!
