  • this was our first time trip to SFO, the hotel location was perfect for everything - pier 39, wharf, cable car access to downtown, restaurants, shops and EVERYTHING... walking distance even to embarcadero... the place was clean and well maintain, quiet and peaceful location... although the room is not big enough for family with 3 kids.... the pool is heated but when the weather is cold dont dare to swim, the water is cold!

  • This hotel was located perfectly for our familys San Francisco trip. It was convenient to Fishermans Wharf which is where we spent most of our time. It was also close to the tour companies and to many car rental companies. The rooms were generous with comfy beds and linens, the business center was convenient and well stocked with paper, and the laundry facilities were a nice benefit as well. We would certainlyl stay there again!

  • This hotel was located perfectly for our familys San Francisco trip. It was convenient to Fishermans Wharf which is where we spent most of our time. It was also close to the tour companies and to many car rental companies. The rooms were generous with comfy beds and linens, the business center was convenient and well stocked with paper, and the laundry facilities were a nice benefit as well. We would certainlyl stay there again!

  • Staff was very polite and helpful. Room was very clean. Excellent location. Easy to get everywhere. Would stay again. Heater very loud.

  • I had done so much research on the hotels in San Francisco but my budget was priority. After searching for my likes and dislikes I found this hotel which had everything I wanted. Upon my arrival I was hoping I was not going to be disappointed, since I had never been in San Francisco. The room was clean, big bed, plenty of towels and complimentary coffee. The next day, I had a clean room again, clean sheets and towels. Holiday Inn was great! The staff was wonderful!!!!!

  • We were traveling with our two young children, and just picked this hotel because we saw it while walking along Fishermans Wharf. When we asked if there was a room with a view, we were told there might be, but the reservationist couldnt guarantee it. We ended up looking at the back alley and into an adjacent office building window. My kids didnt care because they were too fascinated with the Mario games they could play on the tv in the room. The beds were too soft, but the room was clean. We must have been near the trash area because around 11:00 pm I heard what sounded like the trash trucks picking up the dumpsters, or just a lot of trucks. We had the breakfast buffet there both days, which was excellent. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive to the kids. The location is good for walking to Pier 39, The Ghiradelli restaurant area, and all the shops along Fishermans Wharf. On the morning of 4/3, I asked the concierge downstairs in the lobby area if San Francisco had any type of natural history musuem, specifically with dinosaur bones, fossils and the like, and the only thing he could direct me to was the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. When we got there we were disappointed to see the museum was undergoing remodeling, with a huge sign that said ""Reopening Sept. 2008"". We also tried to visit the Nautical Ship Museum down by Ghiradelli Square (also recommended by the same concierge as a good place to take kids), but it too was undergoing remodeling. Needless to say, that particular concierge on the morning of 4/3 was not up to date on his city. All in all, an ok place to stay.

  • The toilet was broke, and the room had a bad air flow coming from the bottom of the unit! had to run the termostat at 77 just to keep warm. but is a great location and very friendly staff.

The location is excellent, 2 blocks from the wharf and boat piers, Ghiradelli, and a few blocks from Little Italy. Rooms were clean and spacious, outdoor pool was clean (not really heated though), and staff was very helpful. Restaurant in hotel and coffee bar in the lobby.

  • Room was exactly as described in hotels website. Location was perfect, room had a great view, parking was on site and cheaper than surrounding choices. Loacation provides easy access to all attractions and information provide by hotel staff allowed us to quickly find our points of interest. I will stay at this Hotel the next time I return to San Francisco. Overall a fantastic experience with this Hotel.

  • We arrived at 11:00 and put our baggage in storage till the room were ready. We requested ajoining rooms and were told that all they had were rooms across from each other. Since we werent checking in yet, they asked us speak with the manager when we got back. When we returned at 2:00 another person at the front desk found us two ajoining rooms. They were perfect for my family of 4, This is a great location within walking distance of many resturants, shopping, trolly cars and other forms of mass transit. You could hear alot of steet noise but that should be epected since your right in the middle of everything.Would defintly stay ther again. The Holiday in provided me with good, clean comfortable accomodations

  • My family of 4 (including 1 teen and a 7-year-old) loved our stay here! We were very happy with the room and the common areas. Everything was very clean, quiet, and welcoming. The pool was a bit cold but clean. From the hotel, we were walking distance to the Wharf and to the pier where the ferry left for Alcatraz. We were also able to hop on a bus across the street to visit other famous San Francisco attractions (Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park). The desk clerks were always very helpful in pointing out which buses to catch. There are great restaurants located all around the hotel if you are unable to pay the prices that they charge in the hotel restaurant. Overall, we were very impressed with what we got for the money we paid. It was a wonderful place to stay!

  • First time to San Francisco for my Grandsons and they loved it! Fishermans Wharf had so much to offer and the location of our hotel was perfect. Near cable cars that took us to Union Square in the downtown area and Lombard St. where we saw the crookedist street. The Bay Cruise was a treat and the weather was ideal. We ate at a delicious Italian restaurant called Ceasars just a few blocks away from the wharf. Other restaurants were close by with choice of foods and prices too.

  • The first day we arrived I was a little put off by the staff. He asked for my credit card and was going to proceed to charge me for parking at a rate of 41.00 per day. I was aware of the price but when he asked for my card he was is such a rush he wasnt telling me what he was doing.. I actually had quickly stop him and ask what he was charging me for. I then gave him my other credit card that I wanted the charge to go to. After he rushed me out of the desk and gave me bad directions to our room, we got lost because he did not explain that we would need to park at the building I was in and walk across the street with all our bags to the next building. Honestly I felt really dumb carrying all of our stuff down the street, past the bus stop and looking so lost. The entrance is actually through the Dennys Resturant. When we got in the room was great. I can say that I did like that they replaced all of the pillows, sheets and conforters every day. I didnt care for being in the building across the street and having to walk across the street with my 5 year old every time we needed the car. The Dennys is also over priced to what you are use to at any other typical Dennys.

  • The staff here were very friendly and helpful. Tour reservations were made for us as well as airport shuttles. This hotel is two blocks from the wharf and right on a number of bus routes going into the city. The room was clean and functional. The room was not large but was equipped with an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker, tv and a safe for valuables. The business center was quite useful with three computers and printers, all of which worked. Plenty of clean towels were provided and when we ran out of tea more was brought to the room within ten minutes of calling the front desk. The restaurant within the building served, breakfast, lunch and dinner but did not seem to be overly busy. We did not use this for meals as there are many places to eat nearby. If I had to provide a complaint it would be that the lobby and hall ways were quite cold. The temperature controls in the room worked quite well, but the unit was a bit noisy. All in all this is a great place to stay if you want to be close to the wharf and not have to pay high rates. I would stay here again if I ever return to San Francisco!!

  • The staff here were very friendly and helpful. Tour reservations were made for us as well as airport shuttles. This hotel is two blocks from the wharf and right on a number of bus routes going into the city. The room was clean and functional. The room was not large but was equipped with an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker, tv and a safe for valuables. The business center was quite useful with three computers and printers, all of which worked. Plenty of clean towels were provided and when we ran out of tea more was brought to the room within ten minutes of calling the front desk. The restaurant within the building served, breakfast, lunch and dinner but did not seem to be overly busy. We did not use this for meals as there are many places to eat nearby. If I had to provide a complaint it would be that the lobby and hall ways were quite cold. The temperature controls in the room worked quite well, but the unit was a bit noisy. All in all this is a great place to stay if you want to be close to the wharf and not have to pay high rates. I would stay here again if I ever return to San Francisco!!

  • I needed a hotel room for one night at the end of a week-long stay. Maybe I was spoiled by the nice boutique hotel (Monaco, also a Kimpton) I stayed in for my conference, or the home-grown hospitality I enjoyed for a few days in Palo Alto, but this Fishermans Wharf hotel was nothing special. Room just a square, and small; overlooked an air shaft. The bolster on the bed and the toilet seat had hairs on them, which I found gross. The LOUD foghorms at 5 am (tugboats? lighthouses?) were either charming or incredibly annoying, depending on your level of jet lag. Fishermans Wharf was totally touristy, and I had picked this location just to be somewhere different. Id choose another locale, maybe Japantown or Nob Hill, instead of this, though the walking AWAY from the strip was great.

  • You cant beat the convenience if you want Fishermans Wharf at your backdoor, but the parking fee is very steep (cheaper options are available nearby in public garages) and when we were there only one elevator was working in the ""Beach street building"" where our room was. No complimentary breakfast, but having Dennys in the building is a plus Concierge very helpful.Would stay again if using public transportation.

  • We had booked the Holiday Inn on 1300 Columbus and was sent to the Beach St. location which is approx. a block and a half walking distance from the other. No pool or amenitites at Beach location. I believe it was due to booking on the travel website because the person at the front desk said that is how it was booked. We asked to be put in main hotel and said they were full and couldnt accomodate our request. The front desk check in people werent very helpful or polite. We were in a hurry to get to a medical appt. after checking in and were told we had to take our luggage to the other location before we left, they wouldnt hold it at the front desk for us. The room was clean but had some materials falling off of the ceiling next to the window area. The only good thing I can say about hotel was that it was within walking distance of The Cannery, Ghiradelli Square, and Pier 39. We had a choice of eating at Dennys within the Beach St. location and ended up going to a little restaurant called Joanies not too far from main hotel. Great breakfast for the price and their blueberry pancakes are to die for.

  • My wife and I stayed at this Holiday Inn for a week at the end of January 2009 and found it to be an exceptional value. The room was large, clean and the king-size bed was most comfortable. The bathroom was clean but could have used some type of separate heater - it always felt cold in there. The restaurant was way over-priced, so we never ate there. Disappointed that there was no free continental breakfast or even free coffee. The staff was friendly and helpful. The concierges were outstanding. We traveled the city on public transportation and never had a problem getting anywhere thanks to their helpful directions and recommendations. The location is ideal for doing the ""wharf thing"" or heading uptown on a bus, trolley or cablecar. An excellent choice of lodging, especially for the traveler on a budget.

  • The rooms were very nice. Service is mediocre. We had to wait hours to get checked in. The pool was closed and it was one of the reasons I chose the hotel. My kids wanted to be able to swim. Do not eat at the Dennys at the hotel. You get a much better value at the other restaurants in the area. It is double or triple above any other Dennys...even for breakfast.

  • My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. The only thing was we had to stay in the 2nd building a short walk away, after booking in the main hotel you have to lug your bags up the road and round the corner to the annexe of the hotel. it was not too bad though, just a bit annoying when tired. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Would defo stay again.

  • I FELT THE ACCOMODATIONS WERE VERY GOOD. WE ASKED FOR A ROOM CHANGE WHEN WE INITIALLY ARRIVED AND MARY AT THE DESK WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE BUILDINGS AND AT TIMES THIS WAS AWKWARD, BUT NOT ENOUGH THO CHANGE MY OPINION OF THE FACILITIES. I FOUND CHILDREN UNATTENDED IN THE BUSINES CENTER TYING UP THE COMPUTERS. THE LOCATION COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER.

  • The people working at the hotel were very friendly. The only thing that was a bit of a bummer was that parking is $39 a day, plus tax. Other than that the only other complaint we had was that there was no water in their vending machine on our floor and there were quarters jammed in that same machine. The hotel is in a great area since it is just about walking distance to many shops and a short walk to the trolley! I would definitely stay here again. Its very clean and surprisingly quiet.
