  • Well, let me start the review with a disclaimer - Your perspective of what a good hotel is changes completely when you have kids! Having said that, this is a pretty decent hotel for the money (especially the two bedroom suites) in this area. The rooms are fairly large and provide a good view of the ocean. The pool is always busy and they have a separate kiddies pool as well. The best part about the beach (attached) are the cabanas which rent out for a decent 40 bucks a day. Breakfast buffet in the morning was great - plenty of choice with real fresh fruits. They also had activities in the evenings which we did not attend since we had alternate plans. However, the furnishings and decor in the room are dated (80s look at best) and our room had a leaking AC unit which continued to drip and cause a puddle on the floor throughout stay at the hotel inspite of the maintenance team insisting that it had been fixed on each of the 3 days! As most of the reviews mention though, if your intention is to spend as little time in the room as possible, this hotel has pretty good amenities and clean rooms for the most part.

Having said that, this is a pretty decent hotel for the money (especially the two bedroom suites) in this area. The rooms are fairly large and provide a good view of the ocean.   • The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are great, the entertainment was excellent. I really enjoyed my 4 day stay. For the price of the rooms, the newport cant be beat.

  • I was a bit reluctant after reading a few of the reviews but this place is definitely a good place to stay. The lobby was large and welcoming. I had the oceanview room with a balcony. The room was advertised as a bedroom and living room with a murphy bed. It was a bit smaller than I imagined but suited our needs as it was just two girlfriends on vacation. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to shopping and eateries. The pool is great and the hotel has lots of activities for both children and adults. Happy hour was great! The room was clean as was the rest of the hotel. All in all it is a wonderful place to stay. I would recommend it and I will go back as it is a great value for the money.

  • This hotel was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was really nice to be on a private section of the beach. There were a lot of activities that the hotel offered for kids and adults, and organized games to keep kids busy all day long. The live ""island music"" was amazing. It was a very nice, relaxing place. Id definitely go back.

  • This hotel was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was really nice to be on a private section of the beach. There were a lot of activities that the hotel offered for kids and adults, and organized games to keep kids busy all day long. The live ""island music"" was amazing. It was a very nice, relaxing place. Id definitely go back.

  • - First off- we were bumped from a double bed standard room to a two room suite with two bathrooms, a city view and a jacuzzi- beautiful Room!The bed was my only compliant, not very comfortable and I was cold :( The beach is beautiful and there are waitresses running around throughout the day taking your order fro the poolside bar, coconutsThe inernet wireless was easy to connect to and worked fine.Pretty decent food at the hotel resturaunts and comparably priced. There are also many other places to eat in the area within walking distance, including a starbucks :)

  • I surprised my husband with this trip for his 31st birthday. Our goals were to relax, have some drinks, and just enjoy the beach. We were only here for a 2 night stay. The hotel lobby is pretty nice, there is a restaurant to your immediate right as you enter the lobby. Tip: Dont eat there. It is overpriced, and it is definitely a 2-3 star restaurant. When the highest quality steak they offer is a skirt steak, you know what youre getting into! So be warned. The other restaurant is more of a buffet, however, both restaurants are pretty casual. The buffet: also 2-3 star quality. Dont say you havent been warned. The hotel staff is rude for the most part, most dont speak English. (BTW, expect that most of the staff dont speak fluent English, youre in Miami!) The rooms are exactly as Travelocity has them pictured. The suites are rather large and you could fit 4 people to a room. They are also 2-3 star quality. Be warned. If you request a late checkout, you will be denied. The beach however, is 5 star quality. Its perfect. And the hotel staff does walk the beach to serve drinks. So in conclusion: If you have kids, this is a great place. Very kid friendly, and kids are probably less picky about food. If you are traveling alone, with your spouse, or with a group, just know that you will have to venture out a bit for decent food and entertainment. And if you go not expecting much, you may be pleasantly surprised. But if you normally are a 4 to 5 star hotel quality person, you really will have to pay 4 or 5 star prices to achieve that in Miami.

  • I checked in late at night and when I made it to my room I noticed an abundance of black mold growing on my bathroom ceiling, obviously from a flooding of the bathroom above. It was late and I was tired so I planned on addressing the issue first thing in the morning. However, when I called to change my room in the morning they told me I would have to check back at noon, I did so then and they said I would have to check back later. This went on a few times until I demanded a refund or a different room. Throughout the whole process the staff was rude and acted as though my complaint was unwarranted. My next room was much better (an upgrade) but I should never have had to deal with the situation in the first place.

  • My family and I just returned from our vacation and stayed at this hotel. We had a wonderful vacation except I will not be staying at this hotel again because of the smoking that is allowed in every room. Also, the construction noise was outrageous and the rooms were just old and outdated. The layout of the rooms were great, but thats about it. Next time we will just spend the extra money and stay in a 4 star hotel.

  • The Other couple we travled with actually stayed here 3 years ago and were happy with it enough to recommend that we stay there this time. They were pleased to see that it had been well maintained since their last visit. We were only there for 1 night on our way for our cruise but the room was clean, staff was friendly, and the environment (pool, music,beach,etc) was one we would have loved to join in if we had more time. We had breakfast in the morning and the food was great. If ever we find ourselve heading back in this area we will look her first for a room. .

  • Hotel was as expected. No surprises. Great location! The only thing I did not like in the room, were the bed pillows. They were not comfortable for me, however, my family did not complain. We did receive an upgrade from 1 bedroom suite to a 2 bedroom suite. This was very nice, as our kids are 16 and 21, not small children. The bus stops right out front to take you most anywhere for a 1.50. Most conviences are walking distance. We did not rent a car, and did not miss one. The beach was fabulous, we were there during the week ( I highly suggest that, if possible) as the hotels really filled up (along with the beach) on Friday. We took the boat tour on milionaires row, that was a neat activity, and again, did not need a car, they picked us up and returned us to the hotel.

  • In May of 2008 I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend and and other couple. Since we are all in our early 20s we were worried that we wouldnt be close to anything fun. We were so wrong! Everything we needed was right at the hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and very accomadating. We serioulsly could not have asked for a better way to spend our vacation. Will be going back next May!!

  • In May of 2008 I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend and and other couple. Since we are all in our early 20s we were worried that we wouldnt be close to anything fun. We were so wrong! Everything we needed was right at the hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and very accomadating. We serioulsly could not have asked for a better way to spend our vacation. Will be going back next May!!

  • This is my families second trip to Newport Beachside Resort. You will not find a better bang for your buck on the beach in the greater MIami area. It offers you a lot of different opportunities in close proximity. The beach, the pool (with poolside activities and entertainment), restaurants and a CVS all within comfortable walking distances. Yes, they do charge a $10.00 resort fee per day, but that gives you all the towels and beach chairs you could possibly imagine. After you factor in the activities and entertainment, you quickly forget about the $10.00. This is not a five star resort, but at the end of the day we had a couple of hundred more dollars in our pocket to spend on food, fun and souviniers.

  • Very nice hotel with convenient location. There is a bus line to the mall which only costs $2 each way and picks you up in front of the hotel. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance so we didnt need to leave. We tried several foreign restaurants - the Sushi restaurant was the best, but all were good.The pool and beach were wonderful, every day was sunny and breezy. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The first room they gave us had two twin beds - for 3 adults - so we asked for a different room. The next room was much nicer, and they didnt bill me extra for it. The evening entertainment was very good. We saw a Reggae band we loved, but it was not very well attended. The general area seemed to be safe. We took a taxi both ways to and from the airport for $52. If you are going to take a taxi, you might want to bring a google map for the driver so he can find your hotel if he doesnt speak English very well.

  • We enjoyed this place a bunch! Great location, big pool, separate baby pool, and lots of beach! The room had 2 bedrooms with a separate living room and three TVs. One bedroom had a whirlpool tub and a separate glass shower. The Aventura mall is only 5 minutes away and is great with the Cheesecake Factory and a wonderful Itailan place that we loved! Saw a couple of movies at night in the 24-screen AMC theaters (great seats / clean). Only 15 minutes from the airport, so you can be on the beach within minutes of your arrival! The Tiki Hut beside the pool has great food with daily drink and lunch specials. We mostly spent our time beaching it, but we also drove to Key Largo for snorkling for a day, which was excellent and beautiful! Well worth the trip. The concierge set it all up for us with directions and reservations. Easy 2 hr drive with nice scenery thru south Miami and Homestead areas. Bring the sunscreen and enjoy!

  • We enjoyed this place a bunch! Great location, big pool, separate baby pool, and lots of beach! The room had 2 bedrooms with a separate living room and three TVs. One bedroom had a whirlpool tub and a separate glass shower. The Aventura mall is only 5 minutes away and is great with the Cheesecake Factory and a wonderful Itailan place that we loved! Saw a couple of movies at night in the 24-screen AMC theaters (great seats / clean). Only 15 minutes from the airport, so you can be on the beach within minutes of your arrival! The Tiki Hut beside the pool has great food with daily drink and lunch specials. We mostly spent our time beaching it, but we also drove to Key Largo for snorkling for a day, which was excellent and beautiful! Well worth the trip. The concierge set it all up for us with directions and reservations. Easy 2 hr drive with nice scenery thru south Miami and Homestead areas. Bring the sunscreen and enjoy!

  • As an avid beachgoer, I usually dont care too much about the quality of a hotel, as I always intend to spend my time outdoors anyway. However, The Newport Beachside Hotel was an awesome place to stay during my trip to Miami. The rooms themselves may not be the most up to date, but the staff was excellent, from the housekeepers and concierge to the poolside bartenders and restaurant staff. Everyone was SO friendly and gave directions to and reviews of local attractions. The beach was immaculate and attendants were very fast about getting you beach chairs. There was a great mix of families and young people on spring break, so it didnt feel like a Disney hotel or a Girls Gone Wild shoot. The drinks were awesome, room service was really fast, everything was great. Literally my only qualm was with the food at the hotel restaurant, Kitchen 305. The food was subpar to be so pricey, but it wasnt awful. All in all, great place to stay, loved being RIGHT on the most beautiful beach Ive been to in a while.

  • For the past several years, my wife & I and some friends always went to Southbeach because we love the clubs, food on Lincoln road and fun people. However, we always left not happy with the hotels. In our opinion, Southbeach hotels are over priced, lack amenities, are very dirty and staff is very rude. They Southbeach hotels dont meet the hipe you hear about. This year, we decided to go somewhere new and relaxing. Well, this hotel did that for us. If you have kids this is the place for your family. They have not stop activities for kids and adults every day at the pool and beach area. The drinks at the Tikki bar by the pool are great and the food is not bad for lunch. If youre like us who like to see beyond the over priced hotel restaurants and buffets ($15 per person), walk one block on both sides of the hotel and youll find very good and cheap Cuban, Colombian, Peruvian and yes even American restaurants and a shoping center. We had a full ocean view room on the 10th floor, we highly recommend it. The pool area is very loud with kids. The beach is cleaned of sea weed every day unlike Southbeach. The negatives of this hotel to us are: The carpet in the hallways & lobby smelled; it needed a good shampooing. The furniture in our room was outdated. However, it was clean and functional. Of over 10 staff we talked too that week, 3 were very rude & acted as they hated their jobs. You get charged $10 daily for activities fees if you participate in them or not & $15 daily for parking if you have a car. Were planning to come back. We had fun.

The hotel is located right on the beach and enjoyed soaking up some sun and combing the beach for shells. The room was very spacious and updated, had a seperate couch and sitting area from the bedroom. Our room was NOT dirty at all and we did not have any bugs as previously posted on other reviews. I was very happy with the staff and am planning on returning again next year. Would be a great place for families, offered daily activities. Also provide tours to area attractions which include transportation.I would definitely recommend staying at the hotel. Its in a good neighborhood, directly across from a little strip mall with a good chinese buffet. Also wihtin a block of a bus stop that goes to Aventura mall.

The elevators are way to small but we were on the 3rd floor so we could easily walk but I would definetly stay here again. Its near lots of dining & shopping and its only minutes away from South Beach.

  • This hotel was so nice and friendly. The front desk staff was so accomodating, even at 2am. The hotel resturants breakfast buffet was too die for, well worth the money. The hotel experience well exceeded my expectations. My only thing is i wish it was a lil closer to South Beach, but the $30 cab ride was ok.

  • When we arrived at the Newport Beachside, we were pleased at the appearance, it had valet parking and a clean reception area. The front desk was efficient and got us checked in quickly. We had a nice one bedroom room, which seemed clean enough on check-in, however, EVERY DAY we had trouble with housekeeping. The had a sign that said, ""to reuse your towel, leave on the rack, for new towel, put on floor"". We were willing to reuse our towels, so we put them on the rack. We came back from the beach/pool and found all the towels had been taken and that none were returned. The beds were made up, but there were days when the trash was not taken, the dirty glasses were not replaced, and fresh soap and shampoo were not available. Everyday we had to call to request fresh towels or clean glasses. It became very frustrating. The beds and pillows were aweful. I woke up more mornings with a terrible backache (bring your own pillow). The location was wonderful, you walk right out past a lovely pool to the beautiful sandy beaches of north Miami Beach. The water was warm and clear, the pool was fun for kids. They did have several activities for kids/families each day, which were fun. My 8 yr old did the limbo, a water-balloon toss, a swimming race, etc. They also offered game nights, wine tasting, and a movie night. I would say it was a good value for the money, if you can deal with poor housekeeping. We were fortunate to have nice weather, where we didnt need to spend much time inside, other than to sleep.

  • i booked a trip to this hotel as a surprise 4-day getaway for my husband/myself. we were pleased from the time we checked in. the staff was friendly. it would be perfect for families with children - LOTS of daily activities by the pool. the location was great! we took the bus everywhere. the hotel is situated on collins avenue about half way between bal harbor (FINE upscale shopping - watch for celebrities!) and aventura mall (HUGE mall with great shopping!). and there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel! we went to south beach 1 afternoon, but it wasnt ""us"" - although i am glad that we went down there to see everything (if you go to s.b., be sure to go to lincoln road - more shopping! blocks and blocks!). there is a bagel shop (einstein bros.) right across the street from the hotel. we went there every morning for breakfast. dont worry about taking shampoos, etc., (unless you just want to) - there is a cvs pharmacy also across the street.overall, we would stay here again and have already talked about it. if you like the beach and are looking for just relaxing and maybe shopping a little, this is perfect for you. the decor in the rooms are a little dated, but we are not the picky, high-maintenance type, so it didnt bother us.oh - down the street from bal harbor is a great place to eat - flanigans. lots of food and very friendly service! everywhere we ate had enough food that we could have shared an entree! and watch the tipping - some are already added!

  • Two bedroom suite was great for a family of 4. You could hear everything in the next room from one of the bedrooms which was a drag. Get to the beach before 7:30 am to reserve a Cabana. Good location if all you care about is pool and beach. Some okay restaurants within walking distance.

  • Went to Miami Beach for a long wknd (Fri-Tue) with two other girlfriends. Quite honestly I was expecting a few disappointments with the hotel mostly due to my skepticism of the advertisment always looking better on tv or online etc. We were delighted with this hotel. When we got there the front desk person upgraded our 2 bedroom suite from partial ocean view to full ocean view without any solitication from us. The bedrooms were laided out well. There was a microwave and fridge which both were very helpful. Only criticisms: the were not enough face cloths and maid service did not replace all when room clean. Bathroom did not have vent fan so took a while to get condensation cleared up between showers. Room does not have a full length mirror that is accessible. The balcony doors should be sliding doors rather that swing doors because that made them a bit difficult to open and they closed very loudly (it was extremely windy 2 of the days we stayed). The alarm clock in one of the bedrooms did not work and tv remotes didnt seem to respond well to the tvs. We did valet service which was available 24hrs/day. All the valet team was friendly and retrieved our car within 5 mins each time. Each day had activities available. We only participated in a couple(bingo, horse racing) and they were much fun...we won a few cool prizes. The day we were leaving we had breakfast at one of the resturants. The waiter was the best! He was super friendly. Overall, had a great stay and this hotel and would definately recommend it...and stay here again.
