  • I booked the ?Primrose? Best Western, downtown Toronto a few days ago for a trip that we had planned. We arrived at 3:00 in the morning, and drove through the night to arrive to the filthiest hotel we have ever seen! Not knowing much about hotels in Toronto, and trusting the name ?Best Western?, we decided to save a few dollars and book online. While taking an elevator to our room, we noted the bottom of the elevator was being held together with a piece of plywood. Exhausted, we walked into our room, and experienced the most overwhelming foul smells, I can?t even describe! My husband laughed when he saw the conditions of the bathroom. A bathtub so filthy I wouldn?t dare stand to take a shower. We?ve travelled to some very poor countries in our lives, but we?ve never seen such dirty conditions! The room was so filthy, we decided to leave, and find another hotel. When we arrived at the Hilton (which we really couldn?t afford, but were tired and in desperate need of a clean place to stay), staff noted that ?The Primrose? Best Western was know for their bedbugs!!! Sure enough, when we returned to Ottawa, a Google search revealed that they indeed they had bedbug problems years ago!!! I am a nurse from Ottawa, and basic cleanliness is my only must for a hotel. PLEASE, save yourself the bother, spend the extra few dollars, and go to a reputable hotel!!! I plan on making a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

  • Just wanted to say thank you to the Staff of the Best Western Primrose Hotel for making a romantic weekend away for me and my fiance so special. The rooms were clean, location avgerage but the staff were very friendly and helpful. My fiance and I barely have time to see eachother anymore so it was nice to be so well looked after and not have to worry about all the little things that some hotels cant get right. Yes the chocolate covered strawberries and champaign arrived on time!!!! The weekend got better from there!!MariaP.S> I found the $23.00 parking rate to be high we thought we were in New York!

  • I have stayed at this hotel many times and it is, and has been, a good choice for the money. Clean rooms, attentive staff, convient to shopping, and close to subway. I have no complaints, and the WiFi connection is fast.

  • I have stayed at this hotel many times and it is, and has been, a good choice for the money. Clean rooms, attentive staff, convient to shopping, and close to subway. I have no complaints, and the WiFi connection is fast.

  • This is a tired property. The elevators were extremely slow. The service was subpar. The rooms contained older furnishings. There is also not much surrounding this location. I will not stay here again.

  • Big room-,I was suprised, I needed to be at Frirst Canadian Place for meetings it was only a 10 min walk from the Hotel. I couldnt get a drink in the lobby bar as it was closed due to seaonal hours? Primrose is not a new property but the rooms are clean and the price was right- I will stay again..Ask for a 20th floor south view.S,A.

  • My room on the 17th floor was clean, did have a duvet, did have wireless internet and was a pleasure. The hotel does not pretend to be a great """"destination"""" in itself, but for the weary business traveller or tourist it was pleasant, with courteous, quick, unobtrusive service and provided exactly what I needed at a good price.

The room was clean, and larger then what Im used to for the price I paid also strange that the Internet connection worked! Will stay again perfect for short hops into Toronto.D.

  • Stayed there after a friends birthday celebration, left the night prior to check-out and realized that a friend had left some of their belongings in the room. I called the hotel the next day and the staff memeber was pretty rude when I asked about any lost-and-found information. The staff memeber put me through to housekeeping, which of course did not pick up and then I was told to call back the next morning. When I asked if I could come to the hotel myself and possibly check for the valuables, I was told that the room had already been cleaned and that I should call my friends instead to see if they took our stuff. I realize it was our fault for not remembering our belongings, but the staff couldnt have been more useless. I will call back tomorrow morning and lets hope that the staff is professional enough to turn in the belongings.BAD EXPERIENCE!

  • I normally wouldnt leave a review becuase I am lazy but I think this hotel was great. I stayed at this hotel last February and I thought it was just fine. The front desk staff was very helpful. I enjoyed being able to check my email in the business center. The room was big and clean. The location was terrrific. I could walk most places I wanted to get to and it had excellent subway access. (You can take the bus/subway from the airport to this hotel if you dont pack like Joan Collins on safari.) The gym was small but its not like I am going to work out 4 hours a day when I am on vacation. I would skip the resturant becuase there are so many gre4at places to eat just steps from this hotel. ONE NOTE: I find it helpful to read only reveiws by Canadians on this thing. People from the USA are too spoiled and get upset about things like slow elevators and hotel conditioners. I can say this becuase I am from the USA. If you want to be high maintenance, pay for it and stay at a 5 star hotel. If you are going to see the city and want a good nights rest for a decent price, stay here! I know it will be my choice next time I visit Toronto.

  • Service was good and friendly, made me feel at home, view nice from window, good location, But appearance, especially hallways, elevator and rugs were shabby and beat up. Too many panhandlers and hookers on the street. Dont know if anything could be done about that. I would still consider the hotel for another trip.

  • Great location downtown Toronto, but is in desparate need of updating. The room was a good size and has a microwave and fridge, but no internet connection available. The bed was grossly outdated, and I dont even want to know how long the mattress has been in service.The redeeming quality is the Tim Hortons in the lobby. Wont stay again.

  • Everything about the hotel was excellent, The staff, the decor, the finish, the location. They answered an e-mail enquiry promptly and provided a high level of service. When we encountered noisy the hotel responded within 3 minutes. The room was large and one of the best decorated, clean and well kept that I?ve been in.

The bed was actually hard. No exaggeration - it was slightly software than a bench. The elevators are incredibly slow. On average it would take around 8-10 minutes for an elevator to be available that wasn't already full. Again, not exaggerating. The """"restaurant/bar"""" is actually only open for breakfast. It is also in one of the worst areas in Toronto. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Trust me.

  • My wife and I really love the Primrose Hotel. After 10 years of marrige and three kids we both have busy schedules and cant always find time to getaway but when we do the Primrose is always our choice in Toronto. There are newer hotels in Toronto that have more services available, things like a spas, room service, and valet parking but what we really like about the Primrose is the consistincey in service. For example we always stay in the same room we never have to ask for it. We always order a certain bottle of wine, its always waiting for us in the room when we arrive. We always eat at the same restaraunt, we never have to make a reservation, its made for us. Its the little things that count most when time with a loved one is so limited. Try this hotel you wont be disapointed.

  • My wife and I really love the Primrose Hotel. After 10 years of marrige and three kids we both have busy schedules and cant always find time to getaway but when we do the Primrose is always our choice in Toronto. There are newer hotels in Toronto that have more services available, things like a spas, room service, and valet parking but what we really like about the Primrose is the consistincey in service.   • Im not sure why this hotel boasts renovated rooms and duvets when we had a horrible room with old moldy tile and bedspreads from the 1980s. Ick!

  • Am in Toronto about once a month,Decided on this BW as i have stayed around the corner, and it looked like a nice hotel,Upon arrival, There was no parking, had to fend for myself,in several trips hotel parking was never a problem until now,as for food, they have a restaurant that looks nice in adds, but is alway closed,no food or room service available,not even a bar for a quick drink,and no free breakfast, have to pay for their buffet,which when i looked there was nothing there but bagels and coffee,3 trays which i assumed once held eggs potatoes and such were all empty,and everyone at tables only had bagels and coffe on their tables$* for bagels and coffee.better off at the ramada which is right around the corner,and never had a problem with parking their,they also have a restaurant and bar which was always open,and room service is available,while not a fan of room service when travelling, nice to have it available for those late night snacks,Id stay at the ramada again, wont stay at this best western again

Im a small business owner from Boston who comes into town 2 -3 times per month to meet with Canadian distributors. The Primrsoe always makes me feel welcome.

  • There is nothing special about this Hotel but the staff are friendly the rooms are clean and the Internet connection works like Im at home. Im a small business owner from Boston who comes into town 2 -3 times per month to meet with Canadian distributors. The Primrsoe always makes me feel welcome.

  • I was trying to find the hotel that I stayed at when I first came to Toronto a few years back. I thought the Primrose was it. Upon checking in, I realilzed I had never stayed here before. I was extremely happy with my mistake booking the wrong hotel. The room was very spacious and clean. The matress was comfortable and there were actually comforters with some weight to them on the bed (usually they are thin blankets that dont keep you warm). The hotel staff was very friendly and allowed us to keep our car in the parking garage until 3pm on the day of our checkout so we could still walk around the city. This hotel was about 2 blocks off Yonge St where all of the shopping and dining is located. Eat at the Pickle Barrel (downstairs from the Pickle Barrel Grand on Yonge St). The only downfall that I could find was that upon checking out, you are hit with another fee for parking. I understand that youre in a major city with sparse parking but I think it should be free or a little cheaper than $23 a day since you are already paying for the hotel room. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will definetly be staying here again on my next trip to Toronto.

The rooms are clean and the decor is somewhat up to date. The elevators are always sketchy...... but all of them are being revamped so this issue should fade fast. Now to explain two things.... this originally was a hotel under a different name so you can see some of the old hotels earmarks especially in the bathrooms. They are clean and usable.... just not very up to date. Also half of the hotel is actually rented out to the nearby University students, but its really hard to notice this. They are not allowed to use the main elevators etc.... the only way I knew about this was I went to get Ice on the 8th floor and when I got there the hallways looked more like a College dorm(aka graffiti, garbage, ect.) and eventually asked one of the girls living on that floor. If it wasnt for the Ice trip I would have never known....... so Its not a big issue.Its a perfect hotel if you plan on spending alot of time outside of it.... and for the price the location is perfect..... but I will say the beds are AMAZING!

  • We stayed during the NXNE festival as our son was playing at one of the venues.I booked based on price and location, but then read some terrible reviews so I was nervous about what I would find.We arrived about 3 hrs before the listed check-in and the front desk clerk was very accomodating and actually found us a room that had just been cleaned. The room was terrific. Nice and clean, with big white duvets on the very comfortable beds. Furniture and carpets were newer and clean (couple of spots on chairs but hey...). Bathroom was very clean, as were the fridge and kitchenette area.Location was fantastic as we had to hit a number of clubs throughout the downtown area.Checkout was smooth, and they even let us stay in the parking garage into the evening on the day of checkout (parking is $23/day). Passed a couple of hookers on the way back to the hotel at 2:00am, but they didnt bother us.Note: I had to go to another floor for ice, and did notice that it didnt smell to great, or look as clean/renovated. So make sure you request a ""RECENTLY RENOVATED ROOM"" - which I did.Also, the elevators were a bit wonky, but we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for one. All in all - great value for the money. Not the Ritz, but you wouldnt be looking here if you were willing to pay those prices!!!!

  • Booked room online with a king bed, changed from a non-smoking to smoking once there...checked room in matter of seconds, changed our minds and was told there was only one non-smoking room available with one double bed......elevators took forever the entire stay, many times ended up taking stairs up to 10th floor because it was quicker.........wanted to have breakfast last day of stay in hotel because of convenience and time but everything in breakfast area was in total disarray, no tables clean, no clean dishes, was told to be seated and clean plates would be coming out but after several minutes nothing.....ended up leaving to eat down the street....faster and cheaper!! Parking per day at $23.00 was excessive......would not go back!

  • Pretty much as advertised on some of the other review boards. basic no frills hotel but very clean rooms, brigh corridors and attentive staff, wireless was a little confusing at first ""too many networks too choose from!!"" but once connected no problems, Perfect for a 2-3 day business trip. I will stay agin.
