  • Stayed here 6/24-6/27. Better than expected after reading reviews. Garden Room was LARGE and comfortable, close to pool but bathroom had constant leak. Spent little time in room anyway. Pool was great. Casino with $* BJ and friendly people. No more smoke than any others. Location and price couldnt be better. Lots of hookers after midnight wandering near taxi stand area and lounge. Have never seen so many on previous 10 trips to Vegas. Trop is cheap but good enough for boys-only trip. Had a great time and would stay again. B-fast was excellent at Garden Cafe.

  • The Tropicana in Las Vegas is cheap for a reason. The check-in line was extremely long and they had two employees checking people in while two others sat behind the counter and talked. Everything was dirty from the tarnished brass railings to the stained carpets. I had purchased tickets to the seafood buffet at the Rio which were worth about $80 and left them on my night stand. When I returned to my room after it had been serviced they were gone and then the hotel gave me the run around. The hotel manager told me to talk to security, security told me to talk to the hotel manager, and so on. I finally spoke to the managers manager and got into a heated confrontation with her. I found it rediculous that they would not make any attempt to please a customer especially over such a small amount when you consider how much a casino takes in. In the end all I got were two vouchers to the lunch buffet at the Tropicana which was terrible. I would rather have eaten at Mc. Donalds. Half of the buffet was food they had just left out from the breakfast buffet so my wife and I pretty much just ate a salad. For a little extra money I would definately stay somewhere else.

The showers are pretty awkward and the housekeeper starts knocking to your door 9:30, so make sure you put your """"do not disturb"""" note, if you dont want to be bothered. I loved the mirrors on the ceiling and walls - its very sexy. I think its a bargain. Location is excellent and staff was very friendly. I dont have any serious complaints.

  • I arrived in Las Vegas early. I couldnt check in right away so I left my bags with the Bell Captain my bags where never put in the lock up. I came back 4 hours later and they were still sitting where I left them. I was to have a Queen or King size bed they didnt have any of those rooms available to 4pm. They gave us 2 double beds very small and not worth the money.We stayed in the Garden Tower the rooms are very old and smell terrible. Here is the kicker when checking out I left my bag with the bell captain again and my bags got put away this time but 1 of my bags got stolen. There security wouldnt even get off their butts to search for the bag. We had to do it ourselves.

  • Went to the coolest place on earth, and stayed at the Tropicana. Had a wonderful time, the casino dealers are friendly, hotel staff and cocktail waitresses always helpful in pointing us in the right direction. The doormen were very chatty, and made the trip even more enjoyable. This place has a three star rating, but for a hotel that is as old as it is, it was immaculately clean, the buffet was good, and the services and location could not possibly be better. Very close to the monorail,. Which brings you all the way out. It felt like home for the time we were there. I asked for more towels at the front desk, and the chambermaid made it to my room before I got there.The $* BJ table was really alot of fun, the slots were cool too. A word of warning though... The deal or no deal slots are as cold as the ice in your drinks.I would stay there again and again, recommended it to friends. A short cab ride to McCarran, and being that close to MGM, Mandalay, Luxor, and everything else makes this place a sure winner.

  • The hotel is divided into 3 sections. The oldest section is the garden rooms. Very rundown. Paper thin walls. Felt like we were right in the parking lot. Very noisey and felt unsafe all night! Thought having a balcony might be nice....NOT. Switched to the island tower. While a little older the rooms were good and the view was FANTASTIC. The paradise tower also looked like it had nice rooms with good views. The pool area was very nice. The Tropicana is in a great location and the prices are reasonable. But the garden rooms sections of the hotel are really bad. Front desk was very helpful in switching to the island tower.

  • We checked in at 12:00 but were not given a room with two beds. We requested a change of rooms to have two beds. The new room was not ready until 3:00. When we checked out our room it had not been cleaned from the previous guests. We talked to management and was assured that it would be cleaned. At midnight, we want to go to bed and returned to find that it still was not cleaned. About 1:00, the room was finaly cleaned.

  • My husband and I stayed here for several days for a mini vacation. Overall, we were very satisfied with the Tropicana. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast buffet was OK and the casino was fine. The only thing that annoyed me was when we went to check in, our room wasnt ready and this employee offered us free meals and shows, but it was a ploy to get us to tour Tahiti Village 1 hour after we got there, tired, hungry, and just wanting to get up to our room. They were very pushy and we didnt appreciate it. But for the price, it was a very satisfactory stay and we would stay there again.

  • This was my first trip to Vegas. I had no clue about hotels,but I chose the Tropicana because it seemed like it was in a good location. The reviews on the Trop were scary to read, some loved it and some hated it. I bookd the Island Tower upgrade and thought that would be adequate, after walking for 10 minutes just to get to the elevators and seeing the room,I quickly called to get an upgrade. They moved us to the Paradise Tower right off the casino. The Paradse Tower room was nice, nothing spectacular but a huge upgrade from the Island Tower and the location right inside the front doors was very nice. The Trop is showing its age, but it was nice to be in a laid back casino.The dealers were very nice and talkative which made my time there very pleasant. It was nice to just kick back and chat and not get cleaned out after ten minutes or have a ton of people pushing me to leave my seat at the table.The food left something to be desired, the Garden Cafe was ok, but the service was terrible. The few times we went, the cafe wasnt crowded and it still seemed like it took forever to get served. Java Java was decent for the morning coffee run and cheap too. Id highly suggest taking the walk over to NY NY and trying their food, big improvement.So to sum up, if you want to travel cheap and dont expect to spend much time in the room anyways, like me, then the Trop is a great value for the money, but dont expect the flash of the other bigger,newer casinos.

  • Be careful, it is very important where your room is located. opt for the ""newer garden towers.""A room anywhere else is apt to be very dissappointing. We asked to be moved after our first night. A sewer odor permeated the room and everything in it. The staff was very nice and upgraded us to another room, but it took several hours to get it ready.The location is great, and it is worth stopping in to see the stained glass ceiling above the table games area.

  • I was wary about staying at the Trop, it didnt have stellar reviews. But it was the price that got me, so I stayed. The staff is VERY attentive & friendly. Island Tower rooms are clean & neat. Dont get it twisted: this isnt Palms or Bellagio, but its a decent place to stay, seriously. If youre younger, you might want to opt for Hard Rock/Palms/Ceasars. The Trop has lots of kids running around, and its more of a family place. But the 18+ pool is nice. Gambling there is fun, and we actually came away ahead. Room service is pretty good. Room quality overall is decent, but the walls are pretty thin. We actually had neighbors bang on our door asking us to quit talking...yeah TALKING (LOL). Youll like the Trop for its value and ideal location on the strip. Its within walking distance of Ceasars, NY NY, MGM, Paris, and everything else. DONT expect a 5 star experience, but DO expect to come back with money in your pockets. We did!

  • the elevators were not working. I waited 15-20 min everytime i went up and down.When i informed the hotel about the elevators they said ""everything is working properly and the wait time is normal.

  • We wanted to stay on the strip and wanted to be in the middle of things but didnt want to pay a lot for the hotel we wanted to spend our money at the tables or slots. The hotel was really nice - clean. Dont get me wrong it is an older hotel but I didnt have any problems with it. We ate at the cafe on night and the nachos were GREAT. They have $5 blackjack tables which were a bonus. We had 2 other couples with us - the one couple was doing well at the slot machines and had dinner and 2 shows given to them. We saw the magic show at the show and it was entertaining. The hotel was small enough that finding our way around wasnt a problem. The other couples did eat at the buffett - 1 liked it and the other thought it was ok not great.Dislike - the time share group camped out in front of the hotel and inside the casino. They were in all hotels but I found it distasteful.

  • We wanted to stay on the strip and wanted to be in the middle of things but didnt want to pay a lot for the hotel we wanted to spend our money at the tables or slots. The hotel was really nice - clean. Dont get me wrong it is an older hotel but I didnt have any problems with it. We ate at the cafe on night and the nachos were GREAT. They have $5 blackjack tables which were a bonus. We had 2 other couples with us - the one couple was doing well at the slot machines and had dinner and 2 shows given to them.   • I would not stay at the Tropicana in the future. It really appears that nothing is being done to maintain the property. Carpet is bunched and rippled in many areas. Very strange odors in the walkway between the casino and our room in the Tower. The escalators were not working while we were there. The room decor is sadly outdated. The A/C in our room, our hallway very inadequate.It was a good price but would have gladly paid more money to have a better experience.

  • My boyfriend and I love this hotel. The location is great because it puts you in easy walking distance of a lot of great activities. Staff was really friendly and the room was great.

  • Dont be afraid to spend that extra $20 per night to stay at another casino!The first night we were there my rooms a/c did not work,NON-SMOKING room smelled like mold and cigarettes,shower controls were hanging off the wall,shower head was too low, and my bathroom was not cleaned!I tried to buy a beer at the Lucky something bar, but you were lucky if the bartender paid attention to you and when she did, she made YOU feel like YOU were bothering her even when it was her job to serve you!Good thing they plan on tearing it down. I hope Im there when they blow it up!

  • We upgraded to a tower room for $*10, this gave a great view of the pool, and the some of the strip. The rooms left a little to be desired. We had other people in our party staying at other updated hotels and the rooms were much nicer. New comforters, more pillows, nicer carpet.

  • this was my worst weekend that I spend in vegas I call the front desk to be change to another room and they dont listen, the room was smelling real bad my husband andson got asma and you just sent someone to spray deodorant but it did not work I am really desapointed of your hotel really was bad theroom that I got was the worst in my life and it wasnt free I paid a lot of money for that was smelling like someone was ded in the room I hope you can do something about it.

  • My family and I had the greatest time. Now I know it is an older hotel. It does have older furnishigs. But where can you get the location with walkways to the strip, Excalibur and MGM for 1/4 of the price of other hotels nearby. If you want marble and luxury!! You get a great location, great shows with 2 for 1s usually and great price. My room was clean, service was great and we actually won more than cost of trip. the pool was great but I do like the lazy rivers at others which are more fun.

  • Front desk staff was friendly until I told her I didnt want to upgrade my room. I knew I was booking an old room to begin with, why spend the extra to upgrade to something that would still be very average at best. When I asked which way to my room she just pointed and said ""there"". So I was off down a flight of stairs winding around 3 different hallways to the back of the hotel. Not the safest feeling knowing there are no security cameras anywhere and very little staff around. Room was clean, but showed its age. There were only 5 channels on the TV that actually got decent reception. Overall, you get what you pay for here. I slept and showered and then went to the nicer casinos. If you want cheap, this is IT.

  • This is not a glamorous hotel it is more like a high rise Comfort Inn type hotel. The rooms were clean (including the linens) and quiet. The grounds were beautiful. The staff however minimal were helpful when approached, I did feel they do need more staff to greet guests as they arrive and offer help with luggage. We ate at the buffet and Garden Cafe both the food and price were good. For the price and convenience of location of this hotel, I would stay here again. This is a very old hotel and anyone planning to stay here should keep that in mind and realize it is not going to be in the same league as far as ambiance and updated decor as some of the newer hotels on the strip.

  • First off when I got to the hotel the floor was wet and it smelled funky, besides that it was pretty clean. The sink was clogged, the shower was horrible. The shower head was sticking out of the wall the water was barely coming out. All I can say is you get what you paid for. I knew it was to good to be true for such a good price, but when I got there it was horrible. Checking in and out was easy, but they were not clear about directions to the first floor, where we were staying at. We asked someone for help, I think it was the room service manager, she didnt help at all. It was the worst stay EVER! I do not recommend staying in this hotel. Take your money else where.

  • You can definitely tell that they are not putting any money into this place in the line of maintenance. Although clean, faucets and tub dripped constantly and grout in floor and shower walls was cracked and falling out.
