  • Check in:I had pre paid with Travel agency,yet the Front Desk demanded a credit card or refused to give me room key .Room:small ,outdated, noisy with 2 narrow single beds which offered no comfort.no coffee maker, no microwave, only very small fridgeBathroomsink was old and cracked,shower was 4ft high and tub was 3ft squared ,so not easy for 6ft+ man to shower.Balcony:lots of bird droppings and very narrowPool :2 pools on 3rd floor which were very smallwhile sitting at the pool...asked 3 different hotel staff if they could bring me some pool towelsnone would do so...but directed me to the housekeeping office on the other end of the hotel.no pool towels at the pool.In room Wireless internet: I was surprised to recieve a free wireless signal,but majority are fee based.Breakfast:We found some 2.99 breakfast specials on Kuhio/Seaside, but cup of coffee over$2.Dinner : Perrys Smorgy on Kuhio was a good value. Would not return to this hotel!

We stay in the Pali Tower which I personally would recommend because it has large rooms and a nice view from the higher up floors Try this hotel, I think you will enjoy your stay.

  • I have to admit, my wife and I were getting a little nervous prior to our trip. Prior to booking, we read traveler reviews which were mostly positive and then booked a room here for 13 nights. After we booked, we kept reading reviews and found more and more them to be negative. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean, they put us in an ocean front room on the 9th floor (the 9th floor or higher puts you above many of the surrounding hotel/motels so you can actually see a good deal of the ocean), and the location was great (one block walk to the Diamond Head end of Waikiki).Some of what we read in the negative reviews was true - the rooms are a bit outdated (they just painted over old wall paper for example), the carpets are definitely a bit dingy, the fixtures in the bathroom were old and outdated (but clean) and the shower head was mounted at a height for a Chinese gymnast (Im 62"" and had to bend quite alot to wash my hair). Oh, and the pool, forget about it - theyd be better off filling it in with concrete.This hotel quite obviously aint the Ritz, but remember, youre not paying Ritz prices either. If you have the money to spend and desire a 4 or 5 star hotel, by all means, stay at the Outrigger, Hyatt or Marriott. But if you want a decent, clean room for a great price in Waikiki, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

  • I loved the location of the hotel. It was 1 1/2 blocks from the beach. The hotel was clean but definitely nothing fancy. The staff was very nice. You cant beat the price so I would definitely tell others to stay if you are on a budget.

  • I must have been staying somewhere other than the other reviewers. Place needs help! Not clean, beds very uncomfortable, 50s decor. Valet isnt part of the hotel, seperate service at $15 a day! You have to figure out how this works cause no one informs you. I guess this what you get for the price - but I wont do it again. The smell of cooking cabbage is still in my nostrils

  • For the rate this hotel an excellent buy. The room was clean and everything worked. The cooling system maintained a desirable comfort level. The bed was a little soft for my comfort level. It was fine for my wife. The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced.The only negative experience i had with my stay at Ocean Resorts was the valet parking. There did not appear to be enough people during peak times, ie in the morning when people were getting their cars for the day, and in the afternoon when everyone was returning. It was especially difficult when people were checking in at the same time cars were being returned for the evening. One afternoon I waited in line for over an hour to get my car parked. I realize the parking is separate from the hotel, but a bad experience here reflects on the hotel. In my opininon the problem could be resolved by bringing an additional person in during peak times. I do not blame the individual doing the parking, they were running their legs off. I think it is a management problem.Otherwise, I consider my stay at this hotel a good experience.

  • My husband & I stayed in room 1419 at the top floor. We took the elevators at the back (not the towers) and unlike what we had read before, we found them to be very fast, Our room was pleasant with a nice balcony and a wonderful view of the ocean (in-between high rises.) The room had a small fridge in the bathroom and a nice sized TV and it felt very private. It was a comfortable room and we grew fond of it during our stay. I thought of it more like a condo than a hotel room. Even though we liked our room, the restaurant, unfortunately, was terrible. Our first night on the island, we were tired and decided to try it. I got the Maui Maui on the ""specials"". Not smart. The aroma from the fish made me feel ill. I politely took two bites and sent it back. The nice waiter then brought me the ""hamburger steak"" which was a hard, thin, frozen patty swimming in canned brown sauce. Mashed potatoes (probably dried) and veggies, which were those frozen or canned mixed pea things. Not good. I hardly ate anything at all. BUT, down the street about a block toward the water is Wolfgang Puck Express, which was great! We also ate at the McDonald, in the neighborhood, which was the worse of any I have ever eaten. Guess they dont have to try in Waikiki. Check out the numerous ABC stores. Lots of stuff to take home for gifts and very reasonable. Good place to get tasty and cheap Kona coffee. The aquarium is within walking distance and a good place to go although at first glance, not very impressive. Go inside and see the wonder of the fish in this area. It is worth the time.

  • If ou are looking for the ""Hilton"" this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a decent room at a great price this is it. And its a block off the beach!! Yes, the property is showing its age. Yes, our room was smallish. Yes, the shower head is better suited for a small person (I am 6"" 6""). And Yes, I would stay again. (in a heartbeat) The housekeeping staff was great. All of our requests were fulfilled. (A daily tip goes a long way.) Resturant was Ok but not great. The lounge was less than desireable but functionable if you just want a nightcap. The desk staff and bell staff were also friendly and helpful. The brightest spot was the activities staff. X went above and beyond all expectations to assist us in having a great time. Friendly service, good advice and a ""can do"" spirit are his trademarks. (Also not a bad singer)

The shower head was unusually low and I had to stoop to wash my hair. The staff was very nice and helpful (with the exception of the travel/activities agent in the lobby who was not very friendly and did not look like she wanted to be there). The major saving graces of this hotel are the price and location, which you cant beat for the value.

The restaurant was not that great, cheap but food was too greasy. The location to the beach was good, only a couple minutes walk. Overall, might stay again if we were on a budget.

The restaurant was not that great, cheap but food was too greasy. The location to the beach was good, only a couple minutes walk. Overall, might stay again if we were on a budget.

  • I stayed here with a large group tour. I had checked it out before hand and didnt expect much. I was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms were HUGE, clean and I had a great view of the beach, even though it was two blocks away. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel restaurant was pretty bad though. Walk down to Lulus for a better meal. Aloha!

  • Yes, it is a little shabby in the details, but overall this was a great hotel for traveling on a budget with 22-year old and 13-year old granddaughters. It is on the south end of Waikiki, and everything is within walking distance, including the beach and great restaurants. We upgraded to a Diamond Head Studio with kitchenette and two double beds. We were on the 17th floor and could see both Diamond Head and the ocean. The street noise is loud, but its a city, so deal with it. We managed to get a good nights sleep every night with the sliding glass door open. The breeze was wonderful and far outweighed the city bustles noise. Surprisingly, the room looked exactly like the pictures. The housekeeping and front desk staff were wonderful. Slow elevator, but its Hawaii. We did not venture into the restaurant as it was always empty. We also didnt venture into the swimming pool area because it was small and scary. As a grandma, I would have swum in a nicer pool and that would be the only reason I would consider a different hotel next time I return on a budget. Other than that, we knew we were traveling cheap, and were very pleased with what we got for the money.

  • Definately not a "resort". The rooms were clean, but very worn. The elevators were dirty. The valet parking is a DISASTER. It can take you 45-60 minutes to get or park your car. There was no coffee maker, or hot water dispenser anywhere for guests. They sent me to the staff room to use their microwave! There was no fan in the bathroom (eww), and the showerhead was very low. If you are over 5 5", youll have to duck. The pool area was a disaster. The "beach towels" they give you are the size of a postage stamp, you might have room for your bottom to sit down on and thats about it.On the good side, The staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean - and the maid service was good. The air conditioning worked great, and it was quiet at night (we kept the window closed - its noisy outside no matter where you stay in Waikiki). Location is great - 2 blocks from the beach and walking distance to all the shops. The price per night couldnt be beat. So if you just want a quiet, cheap, clean place to sleep without amenities, but close to the beach - this is it.

  • We spent a week at this hotel in order to visit my son who was stationed at a military base nearby. The hotel was clean, our room was huge, we had 2 double beds and an extra single bed we did not expect. The room was very spacious, the kitchenette was clean and had everything we needed. The location was fabulous, I could see the ocean from our ""city view"" room as well as the mtns and the activity of the city below. The bar drinks were surprisingly inexpensive and the valet service was very friendly. I visited other family members in nearby hotels, their rooms were a quarter the size of ours but cost more, we got a great deal. I plan to return to Oahu and plan to book this hotel again.

  • As my daughter said, ""You really picked a doozy this time, Mom!"". Everything about the place from the elevators to the corridors to the room was tired and worn. We didnt dare walk barefoot on the dirty old carpet, the slider wouldnt lock, the dead bolt on the door wouldnt lock. We got exactly 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and 2 washcloths. When I asked for 2 more towels, they were given very grudgingly. The air conditioner quit working and when it was fixed, it ran constantly and the room was freezing cold. Never again for me.

  • I couldnt believe the deal on this hotel. The hotel is only a block from the beach and although its not as nice as the Marriott across the street its a fraction of the cost.If your trying to impress that someone special stay somewhere else but if you want a great deal stay here. The pool area is run down but who cares Id rather be at the beach. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff of the hotel were most helpful.I guess the bottom line is Ill go back the next time I go to Hawaii which at this price will be very soon,

  • Ive stayed here on several occasions. Its in a great location at the end of the strip. Its a very short walk anywhere. The food is great and very reasonable, the bar is nice and the rooms are truly a great value. For the money- its amazing. If you are on a budget like I usually am on vacation, this is the perfect spot. I love it and cant wait to return.

Our large room had a fabulous view of the ocean, comfortable beds, 11/2 blocks from beach, close to activities. Staff is friendly and accomodating, you wont spend much time in your room anyways being in Hawaii. Take the bus/trolly which you can catch right outside of the hotel for $2.00 instead of renting a car and paying for parking. I would recommend this hotel, we will be coming back again. We had a very wonderful time.

  • I was impressed by the quick check in and the clean room and the excelent staff. I liked the convience of the Laundry mat and the coffee shop. The food was ok and the prices were fair. I was disappointed by not having a hot tub on site ;and my room had a great view of the ocean, but two twin beds. I almost feel out of bed a few nights. The maids keep the room spotless and left me extra towels. I was not impressed with the activities person.
