  • I visited The Del as a child (many moons ago) and loved it then - started going back a couple of years ago, and plan a long weekend there every year. Its still great. The setting is just so spectacular. The updates have been good, the rooms are always clean, and the staff is always great. The restaurants and bars maintain a high standard, and theres always something new along with the older favorites. I love the shops. Had a problem with their phones one evening, I suspect due to the age of those, but that was the only problem. The Concierges there are always the best, got us tickets to a show we decided to attend at the last minute. They always go the extra mile. Its expensive, but I sort of put that down to the ambiance and the location - neither of which can be beat!

Only on my insistence was I moved to another room. No offer of upgrade or complimentary service. Staff stood in hallway while I moved my own luggage three doors down the hall!Otherwise, staff was very attentive to needs.Conference facilities were annoying. Basic seating with tables that cramped legs. Audiovisual set-up was poor.Most services very overpriced. The food was average with superstar prices.

  • I brought my kid sister with me to this hotel along with my best friend and her best friend. We had a great time, visiting some family friends. The pool is amazing, the beach is awesome, the staff is friendly, and overall, its just fantastic.

  • The pictures are amazing and people who have stayed there loved it. There is one hitch - make sure youre not put in the ""Ocean Towers"". We walked up to the amazing front entrance, were greeted by a grand and spectacular lobby - only to find out that ""oh, youre not staying here - youre out the front, down the sidewalk and at another buidling"". It was 3-star at best- no towels, no robes, three calls to get a rollaway bed - youre a total second-class citizen, even the beach in front of the Towers wasnt as nice. After talking to others by the beach, it turns out everyone there was surprised as well.That said - the hotel itself is just beautiful. A ton of activities right at your disposal, all of which youre able to use, even from Ocean Towers. And the brunch is to die for. If staying for several days with kids, a quick trip to Ralphs grocery store would be a good bet - PB&J and a bag of chips was $12. Hate to sound so negative, really a great trip, just hope to avoid the surprise for someone else.

  • My wife and I had stayed at the Hotel Del on our honeymoon. I booked a night as a surprise for our fourth anniversary. We booked a Victorian room with no view. When we arrived and told them it was our anniversary, they upgraded us to a California Cabana with a view. It was awesome. They also gave us free parking and allowed us to use the fitness facitilies / spa at no charge. They provided us with a bottle of Champagne, strawberries and a bottle of wine. We couldnt have asked for more. We were sorry we only stayed one night.

  • THE ONLY THING IS THE PARKING SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE ROOM ITS KIND OF A SLAP IN THE FACE TO HAVE TO PAY PARKING FEES AS A SEPERATE FEE AT THE END OF THE STAY. $20 PER DAY IS TO MUCH A BIT GREEDY I WOULD SAY! THE HOTEL DEL IS ITS OWN INTENTITY NO NEED TO FOLLOW THE STATUS QOU ON CHARGING FOR PARKING LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

  • This was a wonderful Hotel. The Hotel Del Coronado is set in a great location right on the beach. Great central location to just about everything you could possible see in San Diego. Great Views, services, and even had a nanny service for guest with children. We were a little nervous about leaving our daughter with a stranger, but the hotel insured us that they have had the service for over 10years and have had great reviews from guest. Our daughter warmed up to the young lady instantly and she was wonderful. She stuck to our guidelines for our child and had activities for her age group to keep her entertained as well as a trip to the beach for her. Wonderful Spa service! Any questions or concerns my wife and I had were quickly answered and resolved in a timely manner. I would stay at this hotel again anytime... I am planning another trip when I get back from IRAQ... They had lots of things for everyone in the family, but you should also so get out and see the sights around the hotel. Im a very satisfied guest!!!!

  • My husband and I spent 4 days at the Del and we had a great time. We stayed in the old Victorian building, where the rooms are smaller but also cheeper. The room was more than adequate and very comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and shows its age gracefully. Food and drinks are expensive but the location is unbeatable. The beach is beautiful. There are lots of restaurants within walking distace so you dont have to eat at the Del if you dont want to. The bar and restaurants at the hotel are beautiful and have very good staff.

  • We stayed at the Hotel del for 3 nights during February. Had a wonderful time celebrating our 20 year anniversary. We dined at 1500 Ocean, a fantastic restaurant, utilized the new Spa and basically didnt leave the grounds during our entire stay. The service was excellent - especially the front desk and servers at Sheerwater. Our room was awesome, it was in the tower section of the hotel and was closer to the beach which we enjoyed tremendously. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family. It truly is a unique experience and I hope to come back sooner than later!

  • Wow! What a vacation! As I was getting on the plane to head back home, all I could think about was heading back to The Del to check in for another 2 days of bliss. The spa is unbelievable, especially the terrace. In the evening my husband and I enjoyed each others company watching the sunset while in our Spa Robes near the fire pit. Our every need was handled by every staff member that we came across - all with a smile! Our room was gorgeous too, we splurged and got a Deluxe Junior Suite. I booked through the hotel since it wasnt available at the site here. The accommodations gave us a balcony, living room area and the charateristics of the old world, which only The Del can provide.The breakfast buffet was so good at their restaurant, Stillwater. They have a coffee bar along with an outstanding room service menu. The first day we ate our food on the veranda and people watched. This is a must!!

  • Came here on a long weekend with my husband. Not sure what to expect since it is such a famous place. We loved everything about it! Wonderful feeling of history and elegance everywhere and the beach is really great! I always wanted to stay here and we will be back for sure.

  • This beautiful old world resort is located right on the beach and close to all the shops in Coronado. The beach is very clean and we actually saw a couple of wedding performed there. A hidden surprise was watching all the Airforce planes take off and land. The restaurant was a bit pricey, but we were on a romantic getaway and didnt mind so much. A very relaxing place to hang out for the weekend. Definately would come back! Be sure to take the time to walk around the town, theres lots of great shops and restaurants.

  • My daughter and I loved our recent stay at The Del. This hotel has a tremendous amount of history and the ammenities are wonderful. The staff treated us like royalty and were helpful in finding dining options outside of the hotel. This hotel is pricey but well worth the money spent. Dont go in expecting a new shining hotel. The Del creaks and groans due to being a wood hotel. However get past that and enjoy the beauty of the hotel, the beach and the town. Our room was clean and everything worked! The pool area was great and my child loved the staff and the ability to have fresh towels when you needed them. The beach area is first class with the ability to rent chairs and boogie boards to keep the kids happy for hours. If you get a chance, take advantage of the Spa. The staff are wonderful and welcoming. We did not dine at the hotel but decided to explore the town and everything was in walking distance that we needed. I loved our stay here and will certainly be back in the near future.

Rich colors and deep mahogany wood,1800 gold elevator lift, enormously high to the ceiling festive decorated Christmas tree await you upon arrival to lobby. Ornaments and lights, and extra large live green wreaths hanging with red ribbon bowes everywhere. When I arrived I knew this was the perfect place to be for the Holidays. The location of the beach right outside of the property had white fine sand like you would find in Hawaii. Housekeeping was kind, prompt,and helpful. They knew the comings and goings which gave us a sense of security. There are a few drawbacks. The hotel attracted families with children who were not well behaved. I never saw so many spoiled tantrum children and who ran up and down the halls yelling as if they were the only people staying at the property. We felt the Hotel management should have stepped in and controlled the noise. The Victorian rooms were not noise proof. Once in your room you could easily hear conversations outside your door. The mattress on our bed needed replacing.It sagged on one side. The down bedding slides off to the side. Front desk was not skilled with customer relations or friendliness. However when we arrived very early they accommodated us which we really appreciated. So we over looked some of the negatives. Thousands of people walking around. It was a very busy place. Oh they had a wonderful ice skating rink outside that was magical with Christmas songs playing. We spent our evenings dinning at all the restaurants on the property and our favorite was 1500 Ocean. Then we would have our after dinner drink outside sitting next to the fire pits overlooking the ice skating rink and ocean. The Crown room as a must.

  • We absolutely loved the Del!!!! The staff was very nice and the ice cream parlor was awesome!!!!!!! The walls, however, were very thin. We could hear someone coughing in the next room, but they sounded like they were right with us.

  • My husband and I just returned from a long weekend at The Del. It was perfect! Our room was in the Victorian building and overlooked the Pacific Ocean. We used our travel agency card to get a fabulous room with breakfast every morning at the restaurant. Our room was romantic, the spa was delightful and the restaurant, 1500 Ocean was out of this world. I would recommend this to everyone! We made reservations to come back in September!

  • Beautiful building, grounds and beach, but food was so-so and very OVERpriced. My margarita was flavorless and my cole slaw at cafe was borderline rancid. However, the Sunday Brunch food was fabulous (and VERY, VERY expensive), although our table collapsed as we were eating dessert and our dishes crashed everywhere. I would come again for the beach, but I would eat elsewhere.

  • This fabulous hotel has everything! Beach, restaurants, bars and great guest rooms. Lots of interesting history. If you want to relax then book a stay at this hotel. Weve been going there for ten years now and can not wait until our next stay at the Del!

  • The hotel is absolutely breathtaking and has so much to offer including several shops offering a variety of gifts, etc. The location is perfect and within walking distance to many good restaurants and shops too. The beach is huge and the view is great too. After reading many reviews with people complaining, I didnt know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The only small complaint is the confusion on the * food and beverage credit when the total bill comes - word of advise = be sure and ask on the front end of your stay what exactly is covered on the * per day (which shops/restaurants honor this) Other than this, the stay was perfect!

  • The Del was a wonderful vacation experience for my child and I. The hotel is over 120 years old and creaks and groans however the beauty of the layout, woodwork and nostalgic flair of the guestrooms was well worth it. The staff are unbelievable in remembering names and the floor you stay on as well as what type of coffee you order in the morning. They were more than helpful in making sure you knew where you were going and what you could do on the island. The pool area was fantastic and clean and the hotel staff did a great job opf ensuring the people in the pool were true hotel guests and not people sneaking in. Because the hotel is on the beach having the ability to check out towels, chairs, boogie boards and such was wonderful. I did not have to worry about packing those types of things. If you get a chance get a massage at the Spa. The staff were great and we could enjoy the spa the entire day. The Del is pricey but well worth the money spent. We will definitely stay here again!

  • Very nice resort which surrounds you with history. The resort was very beautiful with its antique decor, but somewhat dark due to the abundance of wood consistent with its era. What seperates this resort apart is its beautiful beech and the fact that a great history lesson awaits you around every turn. The only down side to our family stay was the numerous events hosted at the resort, which closed off the banquet room and main restaurants (the 1500 and the Crown Room) each evening, not allowing us to view either of them during our stay. The resort offers a guided tour (for a fee... even for hotel guests!) but was only offered once during our stay and it passed before we knew that it was an option (not very well advertised). Overall we enjoyed our stay and would probalby return.
