  • Hotel was listed as ""luxury hotel"" but was more like a $50/night road-side motel. Our ""ocean view"" room did have an ocean view if you stretched your head and neck out of the bathroom window. The lobby looks nice but once inside, it smells moldy. King rooms are extremely small w/bad linens. Bathroom was even smaller w/even worse towels. (Absolutely no wash clothes, which I found somewhat strange.) Barely enough room to clear the swing of the bathroom door. The pool and the beach access areas are the best attributes of this hotel. Check-in clerk was very nice but the outside bartender was just downright rude. We paid about $300 for a night and next time, Ill most definately spend the extra $/night to upgrade to another hotel. This hotel needs many, many updates.

  • We stayed at the South Seas 04/09. The location was good. Its not exactly in the heart of South Beach, but I really enjoyed the location. It was close enough to walk everywhere. There were restaurants/bars across the street and the South Seas restaurant/bar serves great food. The drinks were good too. The staff is very friendly especially in the restaurant. It rained a few nights, but we were able to sit down at the bar and still enjoy ourselves bc its a combination indoor/outdoor and the roof shelters from the rain. The rooms are not extravagant, but nice. They have the feel of a bedroom or B&B much more than a hotel (ie Holiday in or other chain). Breakfast was good and the lounge area is nice. I think its the best value in the area. We checked the prices on neighboring hotels and they were much higher. We would stay again.

  • The staff is very rude and obnoxious. Was billed for services not received (check your bill before leaving). Room very small. Pillows cases were dirty. Found left iteams under bed. Bathroom very small. Parking is expensive ($29 a day) and you wait forever to get your car. Not worth the money or aggrevation.

  • First the good news - the staff, internet in lobby, continental breakfast and outdoor areas - pool & hammock area - were great. And being steps away from the sea, the promenande and Lincoln Road cant be beat. But the hotel has seen better days and needs to focus on better cleaning, and upgrading their bedspreads, linens and carpets.

  • We really enjoyed our first trip to South Beach at the South Seas hotel. The pool is nice and the proximity to the beach is excellent. Also, everything is within walking distance, even with 2 kids in a stroller. Lincoln Road and the art deco district are just a couple blocks. We took a city tour and boat tour and rented bikes another day. We ate at several restaurants and cafes and found them to be pricey, but that was expected. The kids loved the beach and pool and the playground area on the beach on ocean drive. Cant wait to go back, and would definitely return to South Seas. Only thing would have liked in room was small frig and microwave.

  • My son and I visted this hotel and for the money it is a great value. Everything is within walking distance. The boardwalk and beach are easily accessible as well. We arrived early and staff let us check-in. The breakfast was very good and a great start to the day. The morning staff were AWESOME, very nice ladies. Must admit there was a musty odor in the halls and elevator, but this is still a good hotel for the money. Room was clean and staff helpful. Not a luxury hotel but a good choice if you are looking to save money. The pros outway the cons.

  • By no means a luxury hotel but a great budget one. Pool and bar area lovely, direct beach access is a real bonus, staff are very helpful. Rooms basic but clean and tidy which is fine unless you want to spend a lot of time relaxing in there. Fanastic location, 3 min walk from Lincoln Rd shops/bars/restaurants etc... definatel in the nicest part of SoBe.

  • We got an ocean view room (on side, ocean front is just an ocean view from the front), which was nothing special because windows are not large and there are essentially no balconies. Room was nice, although a little dated, had a refrigerator and a nice flat screen. Bathroom was a little tight with limited, if any countertop space. King bed was great. Pool area was outstanding and towels almost always available, with plenty of lounging chairs in sun or shade as preferred and in February... Miami Beach was the perfect place to be, 80 and sunny all three days. Beach and boardwalk are easily accessible behind the hotel pool area. We did not have a car and the airport cab was $32 ea way. We walked to Ocean Drive restaurants on Southern South Beach about a half mile away. Also short $5 (plus tip) cab ride if youre not a walker. Also a nice mall area nearby at Lincoln and Washington a few blocks away with tons of restaurants, shopping and people watching. Hotel Bar and restaurant nothing fancy but nice for lunch at drinks by the pool during the day. Free wireless good. Staff was not overbearing and mostly invisible, and that is the way I like them, if you want pampered by staff....this may not be the place for you. European Continental Breakfast (comes with room) was very good and included cold cuts and boiled eggs along with other usual fare. This hotel is smack in the middle of a very nice hotel district, but homeless and wierdos on s Package liquor available across the street and beer and wine also at nearby 24 hour Walgreens and CVS. We would definitely come again in February....Miami has best weather in continental US this time of the year.

  • Luxury is a stretch. There is NO fitness center. there is a treadmill and a bike in a hut by the beach- no tv, no ait conditioning. Rooms are dingy, bathroom had chipped paint and molding all over the ceiling. You are charged $15 to use a gym down the street. Feel free to sit by the pool but beach umbrellas and a chair will run you $25. Might as well pay a bit more and stay at a better hotel with these items included. Hallways in hotel are dingy and carpet very stained and stale smelling. The front of the house is not warm and welcoming. Staff appear indifferent and mostly annoyed. If it wasnt for the great food at the lounge and the very solicitous bartenders the trip would have been a nightmare. It may be a good deal in a good location but not sure the squeeze is worth the juice. Would not stay again.

  • CONSIDERING THAT THE HOTELS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE SOUTH SEAS, COST TWICE THE PRICE. THIS HOTEL IS TRULLY A GREAT BARGAIN. THIS IS A GREAT HOTEL, IF FUN IN THE SUN, IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. MY WIFE AND I AS WELL AS MY SON HAVE STAYED NUMEROUS TIMES, AND WE NEVER HAD A COMPLAINT. TRY TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE FOR THE OCEAN VIEW OR OCEAN FRONT ROOMS, WELL WORTH IT.KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS AN OLDER BUILDING, BESIDES THAT THE INTERIOR IS ACCEPTABLE. THE NIGHT LIFE AROUND THE AREA IS WORLD FAMOUS, VERY CLOSE TO OCEAN DRIVE WITHOUT HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE NOISE WHILE YOU SLEEP. LINCOLN ROAD MALL IS ALSO, ONLY STEPS AWAY, WITH GREAT RESTAURANT AND STORES.

  • This is a great hotel (and a great value) located right on the beach in Miami Beach. Checkin was trouble free and the front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. Free Wifi was an added bonus I didnt know about beforehand. My room was great. Nice bed and plenty of pillows, a desk for using my laptop, clean bathroom and and excellent shower.Beach access is great and the pool and pool area are very nice and immaculately kept (really). The selection of food at the included breakfast is really extensive, I only wish someone could lay out a breakfast like that for me every day! I had lunch twice at the poolside patio restaurant and it was equally great. Gotta try the Key Lime pie, yummy!!All in all, you feel like you are staying at a place that should cost more than you are paying. Definitely a real value IMHO. I have stayed here twice but this is the first time I reviewed the South Seas. When I come back to Miami I will always stay here.

  • Front door service (parking/door) was ridiculous. We always had a baby and stroller with us, and they rarely opened the door for us. Parking attendant told our ride he could park in front lot, but did not say it would cost $25. Service from front desk is really aloof. Complimentary continental breakfast is really cheap. Their $7.75 margarita tasted like a flat Mountain Dew. We asked for a baby crib, and staff dumped a crib and small fridge in the middle of our room. I left the fridge outside our door, told the front desk, and a maintenance man tries to argue with me that I asked for a fridge when I had not. BUT... Pool area is cool, location is good, hammocks are cool too... Bar staff had no problem with us wheeling the crib (with our 1-year-old asleep inside) into the bar and pool area so the parents could enjoy late night drinks with friends. We brown-bag BYOBed into the pool area, and the bar tender was fine with it. The bar has kind of sterile concrete aptmosphere, but pool area is nice.Overall, some of their staff are bizarre, not friendly, and not helpful. But the room was nice, comfortable bed, v. nice sheets, good flat screen TV, clean bathroom with good shower. Its a good family value hotel, good location, good pool. But try somewhere else if youre looking for service and ambiance.

  • South Seas isnt big but clean and cozy hotel. It is located right on the beach which is very convenient. Rooms are clean, with flat screen TVs, complimentary toiletries, safe, and a mini-fridge. Beach is amazing, even though you have to pay $10 to rent a beach chair and $15 for the umbrella or cabana.(the hotel doesnt have its own). Complimentary breakfast is always fresh and has a great variety of choices. We would definitely go back!

  • My company booked 4 rooms for a convention in Miami Beach since it is only a few blocks from the convention center. So here is a list of ""experiences"" from our stay. Although it may be hard to believe, there is no embellishing of the facts here. I dont need to. This dump fails on its own merits.Bed Bugs-One member had bed bug bites from the knees down on both legs. The halls smell of mold, and the walls are filthy.Rotten fruit in the closetTowels so thin that you could read through themThe main lobby elevator is painted with spray paint, fumes evident at various times. The Valets overcharged us for parking. There was no cover on the electrical outlet. The ironing board is big enough to iron a pair of socks. The coffee lids do not fit the coffee cups.We caught a man stealing a guests purse by the hammocks. The staff told us this is a common problem. So why doesnt it get addressed? No washcloths. Really! There are two when you check in. They give one per room after that and even if you request more, they cannot oblige. ThereThe main lobby elevator is painted with spray paint, fumes evident at various times.I know some of this is nitpicking, but lets be straight about something. When you spend $5,000 dollars at a hotel or even $50 for that matter, it should be safe, secure, and comfortable, with a staff that pays attention to the details even a little. This place is a DUMP for $250 a night, and should be avoided. Miami-Dade Health department got a copy of this too.

  • Everything from the bar to the pool to the restaurant was great at the South Seas hotel! I have been going to South Beach yearly for the past five years and this is without a doubt the best hotel I have stayed in! Dining and Hotel Staff were a little snooty (who isnt on South Beach) but the bartenders were very friendly! The cleaning crew spoke no english which caused minor frustration, but over all, staff was great. The pool is clean and not freezing cold and beach access is convenient, right behind the hotel. They ran out of towels very frequently but luckily they had a towel nazi there to make sure folks didnt take more than one... lol. The valet/ door man acted as if he was too good to carry our bags into the place, but again, our overall satisfaction with the hotel made up for the snooty south beach locals. Hotel looks just like it does on the photos. Hotel is located in the heart of South beach in walking distance to EVERYTHING. Again, would definitely stay here again and again.

  • The hotel was not great but it was in no way bad. Reasonable price = reasonable accomodations. The pool area is nice and the hotel has direct, secured access to the beach. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the bartenders/waitresses. The location is very close to Lincoln Dr for shopping/ eating/people watching, and it is not too far of a walk to Ocean Blvd for the bar & club scene. The restaurant food is good, the free breakfast is ok for something quick.

  • The front desk agents had no clue about Miami when wed ask them about cool clubs, bars, restaurants, lounges, quick lunch, etc in the area. They could only refer places in the immediate 2 block radius of our hotel. Otherwise, the room was a nice size, clean, quite with a very comfortable king-size bed with lux sheets/comforter. Dont be fooled by the word ""Oceanview"" because in reality, you can see the neighboring hotels pool and only a sliver of ocean in the far distance from your window. The continental breakfast had a nice spread of fresh juices, all types of cereal, cold cut meats and cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, strawberry bread, multi-grain breads, English muffins, french toast (my favorite) with syrup, flavored coffees, assortment of teas, fresh fruit, jams, butter, cream cheese, milk, soymilk. Also there was a toaster and toaster oven to create any type of culinarymasterpieces. The pool area was very nice and quiet except when the hotel next door throws loud, pumping Saturday pool parties starting at 10AM. The pool was large, clean and HEATED (very important). Unlimited beach towels. Hammocks out back are a nice place to catch some zzzzs or just read a book. Just further out back is the gated exit for direct beach access. Not included are the beach chairs or umbrellas, $10 and $15 respectively. I also loved the hotels central location. I forgot to mention the very convenient free internet room. One other complaint I had was that the room attendant did a very nice job tidying up the room but one day she shoved my nite clothes in a dusty corner of the floor next to the nightstand in the process. I hope it was inadvertantly done.

  • Well designed, friendly, easy walk to Lincoln Road restaurants, close enough to South Beach, lovely pool, very clean, ample breakfast buffet. We had a wonderful 5 nights here in early February. Im glad we got an ocean front room--worth the upgrade. A higher floor might have had more ocean view, but just seeing the pool and palm trees through venetian blinds was great.

  • The front desk people were very welcoming and pleasant from the time we arrived untill check-out. Me and 3 of my girls went down for a long wknd and this hotel was the perfect location...walking distance to shopping, dining, and clubbing. Both the room and bathroom were clean and fresh. We were a lil skeptical b/c of some of the reviews we read b4 booking the trip, but it turned out well. The rooms are tiny and nothing fancy, but you are hardly in the room. The hotel offers valet parking ($29 a day) and the service was speedy for the most part, they say it takes 20MIN to get your car, i dont recall waiting even 10MIN. The pool was clean and is open till 12A and the beach is within walking distance from the hotel. Yes, you have to rent a beach chair ($10 all day) but thats SoBe for ya! Continental breakfast was also good. My only thing was the rooms dont have a fridge/microwave and you can not reserve 1 for your arrival, its on a 1st come 1st serve basis, needless to say we never got 1 in our room, but we survived, CVS is 2 blocks away!
