  • We stayed for 6 nights in Novemeber> The disapointment was this hotel is a very active confrence center. There were people all over the property in the pool area during their breaks.If you are looking for a resort hotel as we were, you will be disapointed!

  • My stay at the San Diego Hyatt - Mission Bay was simply fabulous! We just stayed for one night but that was enough to make a great impression. Everything was simply wonderful! The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and very friendly. Hotel grounds were tropical, clean and beautiful. We booked the Ocean View room....fabulous view. I am not a ""beach"" person but the views were breathtaking. Whether you are staying with friends or on a romatic weekend getaway, this hotel is great. I am one to inspect rooms as soon as I arrive and I found everything to be a 10. Beds, very comfy and huge. We used the express check out with no problems, quick and easy. We usually stay at Hyatt hotel locations and will continue to chose Hyatt over other hotels in the area. I am very pleased and will definitely come back and stay at the San Diego Hyatt.

  • My stay at the San Diego Hyatt - Mission Bay was simply fabulous! We just stayed for one night but that was enough to make a great impression. Everything was simply wonderful! The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and very friendly. Hotel grounds were tropical, clean and beautiful. We booked the Ocean View room....fabulous view. I am not a ""beach"" person but the views were breathtaking. Whether you are staying with friends or on a romatic weekend getaway, this hotel is great. I am one to inspect rooms as soon as I arrive and I found everything to be a 10. Beds, very comfy and huge. We used the express check out with no problems, quick and easy. We usually stay at Hyatt hotel locations and will continue to chose Hyatt over other hotels in the area. I am very pleased and will definitely come back and stay at the San Diego Hyatt.

  • Our family of 5 just returned from a week long stay here and absolutely loved it! I just finished reading some of the other reviews and have to say Im surprised at some of the negative remarks. Ive learned to expect the unexpected while traveling and thats how our trip started. When we arrived after a long day of travel we were disappointed to find that the room we had booked (Marina Suite) was overbooked. The staff was very helpful and willing to do whatever needed to make things right. We opted for a 2nd room (at no extra charge). The following morning when we could have moved to the suite, we chose to keep the 2 rooms which they let us keep for the price of one standard room. Because of the ages of our children this worked great for us. The pool area is beautiful and the water felt like bath water...very warm! Every staff person we dealt with was friendly & helpful. Everything was very clean, up to date and beautiful. We enjoyed the coffee, hot choclate and pastries at ""Swim"" but never did try the Red Marlin so I cant comment on that. The location of this resort is perfect beause its close to everything yet a bit secluded. The fitness facility had great views of the marina but we chose to walk along the water rather than on a treadmill. Yes...I could have booked a cheaper hotel but I dont feel the price was out of line for what we got. Its not very often that I get home from vacation and realize that my own bed is not as comfortable as the one at the hotel! San Diego is a geat family vacation destination!

  • I surprised my husband with a 30th birthday trip to San Diego in mid January 2009. I booked this hotel because we got a great deal and it looked beautiful. After reading some reviews, I was quite worried, but it turns out I had nothing to be worried about! They checked us in two hours early and upgraded us from an Ocean View King to a Ocean View King Corner Suite for FREE! I just requested that we be as high up as possible, and the girl at the desk gave us that room. When we walked into our room, we were thrilled. We were on the 11th floor of the tower and the 180 degree view was gorgeous! The room had two flat screen TVs, a living area, a comfy bed, an awesome stand up shower with glass doors, and everything else we couldve possibly wanted! I dont know about the other parts of the hotel, but if you stay in the tower, you cant go wrong. The location is excellent as Mission Bay is very central in the San Diego area. I would stay there over and over again and have already recommended it to many people.

  • they told me in advance that they were under renovation. lobby was very small and cramped. when i checked in i was offered an upgrade to either the tower or to a 3 level building that had bigger rooms. i chose the bigger room and it was basically a junior suite with a seperate living room, nice bathroom (except for low flow shower), nice bedroom and nice view of boats in their slips. room was very clean and nice and nice upgrade with no upcharge. the parking valet is very busy and not very well attended. the $14 parking charge was a bit much for what it was.

  • My children and grandchildren had a great vaction stay. Our window had a nice view of Mission Bay and we we opened the windows we had nice cool breeze. We went to celbrate our daughters birthday at Sea World so our location was perfect. The kids enjoyed the pool. the only problem was that there were not enough lounges and some guests hogged them even thought ehy were not in the pool area the entire day. The food service in the pool area was fair not enough waiters. My husband did not like the fact that there was no complimentary coffee in the rooms. Over all it was a nice place to stay as a family.

  • I stayed at this hotel for a businiess/ continuing education trip for my profession. As we checked in late the first night, tired I entered my newly renovated room with a popcorn ceiling! Then at 3:30 am the loud neighbors entered their room and kept opening the connecting room door on their side ( might as well have been an open window). Then about 5 minutes later someone enters though the main door, because the front desk activated a key for these people! Gee, I only had to wake up in 2 hours for a 12 hour class the whole next day. To top that off I spoke to the front desk they said oops sorry, that was it! The room didnt even have soap or shampoo in it! I had lunch at swim, asked for grilled marinated chicken, it was mose like a microwaved shoe sole, yuck! Hope others have a more pleasant stay!

  • Our stay at the San Diego Hyatt - Mission Bay was Awesome! We stayed for four nights. The hotel staff was great, the rooms were very clean, the pools and hot tub were also very clean. Great place for families, the kids will enjoy the water slides. The drinks and parking was a little expensive $25 per day for parking. The on site restaurant (Red Marlin) food was horrible. It was the most expensive bad food I ever had, but the hotel it self was excellent!

  • We stayed here because it was supposed to be newly renovated. First, Room was very dirty, refrigerator dirty and did not work. No coffeemaker in room as advertised. Terrible parking, expensive, and if you dont snag a nearby spot, you must park across a street and long, unsafe walk. We pre-paid for two queens, got two double-beds, and was told ""too bad"" by staff, no other available rooms. No refund for the difference. Room service menu astronomical...$4 for can of Sprite, $19 for coffee, (plus service fee and tip) extremely limited choices, nothing really for kids. Restaurant was good, but very limited carry-out. Vending machines and little shop also astronomically expensive for snacks. (bring cooler). Not enough room towels, no matter how often we requested. You have to ""request"" they change the sheets--under the guise of being concerned about water conservation--which should be automatic for this price range (I expect clean sheets daily, thats why I stay in nice hotel!). Pool was nice/fun, but not very clean. Water slide open only 10-6, so if you plan to sight-see, the kids cannot use slide when you return to room. ""Lifeguards"" wouldnt let my 8-year-old use waterslide just because hes very small for his age...I showed his birth certificate, and hes accomplished swimmer, not disabled in any way, so that spoiled his trip, NEVER had that happen anywhere, including huge water parks around LA/San Diego. No pool towels available. Staff not helpful re: directions anywhere. Stay somewhere else if you have a chance.

  • What a great stay! The hotel finished a major renovation just in time for our stay. They have 3 new pools and waterslides, new guest rooms with the super hyatt beds, ihomes in the rooms and the views-awesome! There?s a new spa and lounge as well. We stayed here a few years ago...It was ok but definitely needed a pick up. I cant believe the way this hotel has turned around!

  • What a great stay! The hotel finished a major renovation just in time for our stay. When I questioned this policy the desk clerk told me ""its california"" as though that meant it was okay to charge you extra to park where you already paid to stay. I encouraged them to just include the parking in the cost of the room to avoid confusion. They were conducting fire alarm system tests during the day when we were there, but it was not that much of an inconveniance. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, they were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice and the views were amazing, especially at sunset. It is within walking distance (less than a mile) from the beach. This is one of the best hotels Ive ever stayed at. With out a doubt the best staff around. I would definately stay here again.

  • IWe have stayed in several hotels around the same area close to Sea World. This valuewas grand opening rate, but still very nice facility and everything is upgraded tasteflly. There is a fast check in/out machine so it is very quick, but the staff is there to help. We wish we spend more time to enjoy the pool. we will definately stay there next time.

  • IWe have stayed in several hotels around the same area close to Sea World. This valuewas grand opening rate, but still very nice facility and everything is upgraded tasteflly. There is a fast check in/out machine so it is very quick, but the staff is there to help. We wish we spend more time to enjoy the pool. we will definately stay there next time.

  • We spent 3 nights here for spring break, mid week. It was perfect for us--one parent, one grandparent, and one 7 year old boy.We had an ocean view room in the tower with 2 queen beds. The beds were very good--I have a bad back, yet didnt wake up stiff. The easy chair in the room was so comfortable I wanted to take it home with me, and my son fell asleep in it every night. Over all, the room was a little cramped, and I missed having a table and chairs instead of a desk. Very clean, great water pressure and loads of hot water in the shower.The pool slide was a hit with the kid--from the reviews I didnt realize it was such a long twisty slide. Lifeguard on duty at the top of the slide to regulate kid (and grownup) traffic. The slide pool was only 4 or so feet deep. Grandma and I could lounge poolside with a cocktail and book while kiddo hit the slide for an hour or two. (The slide closes at 4pm, so we used this as bait to leave Sea World by 2pm)The hotel is really close to Sea World, the concierge has discount tix. I suggest taking a taxi, as the flat rate fare is $6, but it is $12 to park if you drive, and you may end up in an overflow parking lot that is practically back at the hotel!I can see how the pool would be too crowded during high season. Our final day saw an increase of visitors at the pool, and even though not every lounge chair was taken it did feel cramped. LOTS OF KIDS, not a ""romantic"" getaway.Limited food options,but what we ate was great.

  • Even though the hotel is under construction our stay was very good! the staff was very courteous & quick service when asked. Location excellent from Seaworld, your within walking distance! Our rooms were nice & clean. Overall we would definitely stay again & looking forward to seeing the renovation of the grounds & several swimming pools!

  • On a positive note, the room was nice with comfortable beds and a nice view of the marina. On a negative note, the shower was not clean. The concierge was not helpful at all. Be prepared to pay for everything extra such as parking, internet service, bottled water in the room. The hot tub was not working while we were there. You have to ask for a coffee maker. The water taxi to Seaworld is only available during the summer. I would only recommend this hotel if you get an excellent deal on it.

  • The hotel was a hugh disappointment and not up to Hyatt standards. The room was not very clean, very dusty, large stains on the carpet. Always had to ask for more towels & washcloths. Did not have a coffee service in the room as advertised. Balcony was very dirty, could not even sit on the chairs. The pool area was the biggest disappointment, standing room only by 7:00am, people were complaining all day due to lack of loungers. Both restaurants on site were less than satisfactory, Red Marlin did not have air conditioning. The Swim was dirty and service was poor. NO VENDING ON SITE! If you are thirsty or wanting a snack, forget it! I was told to go to the gift shop if I wanted to purchase water or a snack, unfortunately, the gift shop was closed. The last night we returned from an outing only to find the shower next door backed up into our room and flooded the entire entry and part of the living area. It took over an hour for maintenance to respond. I am a gold passport member and this was the first time I experienced sub-standard service from a Hyatt hotel.
