  • The Argonaut is in a great location on the Wharf. Fun and comfortable room and bed. Walking distance to many great restaurant, day cruises and stores (some unique and some touristy) and easy driving distance to the ocean and to other places of interest like Sausalito. Daily happy hour with free wine -- good wines and they pour a full glass. We had a great time!

  • The Argonaut is in a great location on the Wharf. Fun and comfortable room and bed. Walking distance to many great restaurant, day cruises and stores (some unique and some touristy) and easy driving distance to the ocean and to other places of interest like Sausalito. Daily happy hour with free wine -- good wines and they pour a full glass. We had a great time!

  • Our family stayed there fathers day weekend. Apparently there was a LOUD party in what felt like underneath our room. We had our 9 month old daughter who goes down at 8. I called the front desk and asked what time the noise would stop since it rattled our room. They told us one hour. Asked if it was possible to get another room to be told we should wait the noise out it would only be an hour. It was impossible for our daughter to go to sleep. My husband called back and said we needed a new room. They moved us to the fourth floor where the music could still be heard clearly! We had to repack everything for the three of us!The music finally stopped...way past our daughters bedtime. We finally get her to sleep only for the fire alarm to go off! So we left the room in pjs only to be told something had set it off. Getting our daughter back to sleep this time was much harder! The staff was less than friendly about everything!the location is great, hotel beautiful but service stunk! would never stay there again!

The rooms are VERY clean, The beds are new and comfortable, the A/C worked great, rooms are bright when the shades are up, dark when theyre down; really quiet, but we were on a Monday/Tuesday, dont know about the weekend. Hotel is in the heart of Fishermans wharf (not my favorite place to stay, particularly for business) but Id seek out the chance to stay at the Argonaut again. P.S. we stayed in two different rooms on two different nights and both met the descriptions above. Well done!FW

  • Wonderful staff. 2 nd nite, people in the next room has a barking dog. I went down to complain, they called the next room & no one was in.   • Before booking this hotel we read the reviews, and everything that was said about the friendly staff is so true. This hotel was 1st class, great location, very clean, and they couldnt do enough to make your stay very enjoyable. I would stay here again.

  • Great location on Fishermans Wharf next to Ghiradelli Square and Trolly, close to everything.Had breakfast at the hotel, excellent. A place right next to the hotel to rent bikes We biked across the golden gate bridge to Sausalito and caught the ferry back. We visited in July and needed to wear sweatshirts. We had a wonderful visit to San Francisco!!!!!!!! A fabulous hotel.

  • Great location but the walls and ceilings are VERY thin. Normal volume conversations in adjacent rooms can be clearly heard. Yes, they have good beds but you will wont sleep very well. Recommend bringing earplugs but why should you have to for an expensive hotel? The staff was barely friendly and didnt acknowledge my dissatisfaction. Valet parking is $39 per night - a bit expensive but there are almost no other alternatives. Overnight street parking in immediate area is not allowed.

  • This hotel is in a great location, walking distance to most of Fishermans Wharf attractions and the tour boats. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and every person there was exceptionally friendly. The room was large and immaculate.The bed was very comfortable, I wish I could have brought it home with me. I had a great view of Alcatraz, its well worth the extra money for a bay view room. I did not have any noise problems as reported by other visitors. I would most definitely recommend the Argonaut to anyone who is interested in visiting Fishermans Wharf. Try to get room 450 for a fantastic view!The cable car turnaround is right next door and the F line trolley is 2 blocks away. There are several seafood restaurants nearby. Cioppinos is excellent! There are probably 25 eateries within a couple blocks, some big chains and many locals.The only downfall is their restaurant, the Blue Mermaid. The staff there is very nice, but the food is way overpriced for what you get. $12 for a skimpy american breakfast and coffee is extra. Its not even especially good overpriced food.All in all, I loved the Argonaut and would certainly stay there again.

Location is excellent, right on the bay with views of Golden Gate Bridge. Next to loading area for Cable Cars. A small hotel (old refurbished warehouse next to Cannery Row). Try getting a room on 3 or 4th floor so you can be away from street noise. We had 4th floor and it was fine. Wine & cheese party each afternoon after 4pm was a hit. Good California wines featured and time to meet staff and other visitors. Great hotel without the stuffiness of other 4 - 5 star hotels.

  • Two nights of HELL! Could only get 4 hours of sleep due to guests in room above clomping around on badly insulated floor all night. Second nite was worse. Baby crying in room next door ALL nite. Sounded like it wasin my own room. Walls so thin I coule even hear toilet paper being pulled off the roll in the bathroom next door! For real! im not exaggerating! I gave up at 5;15 am and left the hotel before I jumped out the window! This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but I have never had a worse hotel experience in 46 years of travelling! Stay away from here if you like to sleep.

  • The hotel is not impressive from the outside, but beautifully appointment within. Nautical themes throughout. The location was ideal, for people who wanted to see the Wharf without going in taxi. To get to downtown SF, you can walk right around the corner and get a cable car to get anywhere. Or buy a tour with a double deck bus and they take you about everywhere. Ideally located and very quiet. Our room overlooked a restaurant patio where there was live entertainment every evening - lovely! Staff was great and very helpful. Everytime the doorman opened the door, it makes you feel oh so important! Highly recommended. Food was good too.

  • I came out with my girlfriend for new years and was given a room on the second floor. But, when we opened the shutters in the window, we get the view of peoples feet and the sidewalk!!...too much traffic and noise in this spot. I then went to the front desk and explained the slight problem in which they were very accomodating and gave us a room on a higher floor-thank god! The rooms seemed a little small, but the decor was cool-maybe because I like exposed brick walls. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms clean. The Blue Mermaid restaurant downstairs was pretty good. You have to meet Seth there-what a tool, made it enjoyable there! Location is great, we looked out our window and there was alcatraz, and just to the left was the golden gate bridge! The trolley ""station"" is a 2 minute walk right around the corner. Would definately stay here again.

TV, people walking, people talking, dogs scratching (it is pet-friendly), toilets, showers. Peoples conversations are not even muffled by the walls, you can understand every word! You will not sleep, I promise.

Hotel restaurant , The Blue Mermaid had a great breakfast. Pier 39, Alcatraz, and the Ghirardelli factory are within walking distance, no need for a car. There are lots of good placed to eat close by as well: Rain Forest Cafe, Aliotos is a must, fresh sea food markets, and great clam chowder bread bowls. We took the San Francisco city shuttle to and from the airport using the coupon they offer on their website. My husband and I also used the bus to the Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park.Great romantic get away, place to stay on business, or vacation with the family. I will recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the San Francisco area.

  • Excellent value for money. We were treated royally by all. Great doormen, concierge, porter. The room and bedding spotless & a king size bed to die for after a day trotting up steep steep hills! Free wine and beer from 5-6pm also a welcome bonus on a January day in front of the lobby fire. Cable car terminus, open top tour bus terminus and Pier 39 on door step. Tip...if pushed for time skip Alcatraz and take the 1 hour sail instead ...it goes under Golden Gate and right up to Alcatraz with excellent commentary. We loved it. Enjoy!

  • Immediatly we were greeted by the Bell Hop and he brought our bags inside the Hotel. He then asked us our names, gave our names to the Front Desk and went and got drinks for my Wife and I. The Front Desk was always helpful, checking us in and out, without any hassles. The room was unbelievable, words can not describe it. My Wife and I felt at home and we were treated with First Class Treatment. Not to mention the Consierge. He/She, went out of their way to ensure we new exactly what we were doing and where we were going. He/She even helped us book a Shuttle back to the AirPort and printed our Boarding Passes. Allowing us less time to stand in those lines at the Air Port. I can not say enough about the Arganaut and I know we will stay there again

  • Rooms are great - have a nautical theme. History and original architecture designed into the hotel. Oustanding location because you can walk everywhere and never need a car. The cable car is at the corner, the trolley and bus is only two very short blocks. Buy the three day muni pass and see the city that is to far to walk too. You do not need a car unless you want to leave San Franciso on your own journey. Avoid the restaurant. We had three meals and problems were encountered everytime.

  • We arrived to a warm reception with everyone simling and eager to assist. There was never a time when we felt ignored if anything they always spoke. The doormen and the attendants were always kidding with us and they were a wealth of information from what was the easiest way to get to a location to what was good to eat. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We didnt have any trouble with noise as some previous reviews had indicated. I would definately refer them to a friend and definately would stay there again. It was a wonderful experience.

  • After two stays at this hotel, we can say that it has many nice qualities. The location is excellent, the staff are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean, and the beds and pillows are very comfortable. The flaw that we found, and which makes it difficult to really appreciate a stay here, is that the building seems intrinsically noisy. One hears traffic noise, and people conversing on the street, very clearly. Guest activities in rooms above and adjoining are also distinctly noticeable. Even late at night, when the mentioned activity is minimal, the building itself provides a noise background with what can best be described as gonging sounds from unknown causes, and when that is silent, loud cracking noises from the massive wooden beams that support the building. If you are sensitive to your sonic environment, this is a hard place to get a good nights sleep.

  • Our family stayed at the Argonaut and truly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very nice and the hotel is very clean. The staff were incredible and really went out of their way to make you feel at home. If or when my wife & I go back to San Francisco, the Argonaut will be on our short list.

  • Our family stayed at the Argonaut and truly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very nice and the hotel is very clean. The staff were incredible and really went out of their way to make you feel at home. If or when my wife & I go back to San Francisco, the Argonaut will be on our short list.

  • if you want a wonderful experience stay at the argonaut! there truly was nothing missing, the wine tasting social hour was phenomanal! the room beyond expectation. a true 10/10 experience for us. within walking distance of many of san franciscos finest. the staff were superb in every area. will go back again and again!!!!!

  • We had a truly wonderful experience at The Argonaut. The staff was SO nice and accomodating - the greeting and welcome we received set just the right tone for a romantic and fun stay in San Fran. On Saturday morning they were experiencing trouble with their Room Service system, and we were quickly offered a complimentary breakfast at the restaurant down the hall. It was delicious. Our room was beautiful . . . . we had a stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the trolley turnaround, and Ghiradelli Square. So convenient to walk where ever we needed to. The Bell Staff outside were so friendly and fun to visit with, and ready to answer any questions we ever had. We slept well, and considering its great location, I thought it was pretty quiet. We have stayed at several other hotels in Fishermans Wharf but we decided we will definitely come back to The Argonaut again.

  • My wife and I spent one night at this hotel and it was one night too many. The ""non-smoking"" room smelled of cigarette smoke. The bathroom was not very clean and the view out the window was of a flat roof and another window about 20 ft away. The last straw was the noise. We could hear the TVs from the rooms on either side until after midnight and they werent even on the same channel. I was attracted by the advertizing and a magazine review - the decor is very cute - if youre tempeted I suggest you walk through the lobby on your way to one of the many fine hotels in that section of San Fransisco.

  • We stayed for 5 nights with our toddler and loved the hotel and overall experience, particularly location. Great room, front desk staff is hit/miss but rest of staff fantastic. Resaurant is OK for food but great staff. Traveling w/ a baby is hard b/c of logistics. So much gear, feeding/ sleeping schedules etc...but it was an easy hotel to stay in for those needs. Only suggestion is a microwave in each room. Also, this is a personal thing, the rooms are very dark b/c of window size. On a rainy day theyre even darker. Id stay again...but only if i got the same rate. Would not have paid list price to stay here. Other drawbacks: the parking...found a garage 2 blocks away cheaper, the tourist hoopla gets old after awhile, paid internet access and finally, no pool. We had a window overlooking the cable car turn-around but did not have problems w/ noise.
