  • I love going to the Doubletree Hotel located right ont he marina in Bereley. It is a gorgeous hotel and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

  • The best thing about my stay was Danny, the shuttle driver. He is the most courteous, friendly, helpful shuttle driver I have ever met. In addition to driving us to, and picking us up from BART stations, he was happy to drive us wherever in Berkeley we wished to go, made a point of telling us he would be happy to pick us up, and even watched out for our return if we didnt call and took a cab instead. He wanted to make sure all his travelers got back safely.Doubletrees chocolate chip cookies really are exceptional. We were not the only ones who finagled more than just the courtesy cookie on arrival. I know they sell them, but I really think they should have a cookie time for guests, say 8pm... other hotels do it.The location on the bay is very nice. Buildings 2 and 3 are old, with hall carpet that looks like it is from the 1960s. The rooms, however, are contemporary and comfortable.

  • The best thing about my stay was Danny, the shuttle driver. He is the most courteous, friendly, helpful shuttle driver I have ever met. The walls were paper thin, and we heard kids running the halls, shouting, and scraping chairs across the concrete balconies all three nights we were there. We had trouble going to sleep before midnight, and were awoken at least a couple times every night by the noise. I asked for a different room/location after the first night, but was told that the hotel was fully booked and nothing was available. To make matters worse, the HVAC unit in the room was extremely loud, although this did have the benefit of partially drowning out the other noise.I thought I had secured a decent deal by opting for the hotels ""non-refundable"" rate, but regret it now because we couldnt easily change hotels after our first night -- cynically speaking, maybe this is why this hotel offers such deals. We wont be staying at this hotel again, and I wouldnt recommend it for families or business people.

  • This hotel is very nice and sits right on the Berkeley Marina with beautiful views of San Francisco. It has two nice pools and two spas. Service was great. The restaurant was good, but pricey. I recommend this hotel for travelers to the East Bay as well as to San Francisco.

  • This hotel is very nice and sits right on the Berkeley Marina with beautiful views of San Francisco. It has two nice pools and two spas. Service was great. The restaurant was good, but pricey. I recommend this hotel for travelers to the East Bay as well as to San Francisco.

  • Overall a good experience, would definitely stay there again. Good location, nice facility, clean & fairly spacious room. We were there to move-in our son for grad school. Check-in was easy, staff friendly. Only glitches: movie system was out of service for the whole weekend, and their fitness facility wasnt available due to construction--bad timing with move-in weekend for students. Also, very nice grounds, being adjacent to the ocean, with very nice walking/running path available right outside.

The only unfortuante thing about the hotel is that it is not in town, nor in comfortable walking distance to restaurants or anything else. There is an available shuttle, but it would have been nice to be able to wander somewhere other than along the marina. I would stay here again, but I am comfortable driving in new areas. For those who are not, this may not be the place for you.

  • Way overpriced, rude staff, inedible food. $30 for room service for one gets you a raw burger and cold fries. Knew several of the other guests- all had bad experience. Not worth the price at all. Dont recommend this hotel at all.

I stayed at the hotel to attend a conference being given at the hotel and they were way under staffed to handle the hotel guests and conference attendees. Service in the dining rooms was especially poor as I waited almost 30 minutes before a server came to our table for dinner on evening and was rarely served in a timely manner for every other meal I had at the hotel.

  • Arrived 1 hr earlier than check-in, informed that no rooms were available yet - asked if there was a room we could change in and drop off bags(made trip from SoCal) and were told we could use bathrooms. After the graduation, arrived to check-in and told that 2 of the 3 rooms that we prepaid were in one building, 1 in another - only thing they """"guarantee"""" is that they'll have a room. Tried to """"accomodate"""" us by telling us they could give us the 3rd room in the same building - but with a single king bed - I guess 4 people were supposed to sleep on the one bed.

  • we really enjoyed our 6 day stay @ the doubletree @ the berkeley marina. the setting is lovely, with gorgeous views across the bay. set apart in a peaceful area but still with easy access to Berkeley. the shuttle drivers were wonderful freindly & helpful.the lounge & restaurant are what you expect @ a hotel: overpriced & mediocre, but very physically pleasant - comfortable couches, views of the marina, smiling & attentive staff.the fitness center, pool, spa & sauna were large, clean, well stocked with water, towels, etc. one morning the sauna was not working but it was repaired by the next day.wed stay again for sure -

  • I reserved a marina view room, was told upon arrival that they do not guarantee that. I ended up looking at another building, listening to a bouy on the water that chimed every 15 seconds! The hotel was rundown and the bathroom was not clean upon arrival. Yuck. I felt ripped off.

  • From the lazy, incompetant valet staff to the uninterested front desk personnel, the ""great deal"" we got on our room was still too much to pay. When we pulled up, the valet staff just stood around talking to each other, glancing at us occassionally. After asking to whom we could speak to get our car parked, the manager acknowledged me and slowly accepted the keys to our car. When we went to check in the guy at the front desk advised that we had two queen beds in a non-smoking room. I told him that we reserved a king bed. He shrugged and said no, all they had left were queen beds. OK, 0 for 2. We get to the room and it was, in my opinion, dirty. There were different colored ""splatter"" stains on the doors, food stains on the desk, phone, tv and mirror and mystery stains on the outside of the bathtub. At least it was non-smoking, right? We thought so until we went to bed... three of my four pillows reeked of smoke. The pillowcases were fine, but everytime you put your head down, it would sink hopefully into the pillow only to exhale a giant whoosh of smoke odor. Add this to the constant hum of 101 and the jolting slamming of room doors and it was NOT a pleasant stay. No thanks.

The check-in process was a bit of a wait and could be described as efficient, but not very welcoming or friendly. There was no offer or hint of the famous Doubletree chocolate cookies either. Since we had an early morning appointment the following morning, I tried to take advantage of the in-room breakfast by filling out the menu choice card and hanging it outside our door by the deadline. Unfortunately, there was no breakfast arrival at the requested time. On calling down to room service, I did get apologies, but nothing much else. There was no remedy offered except for vouchers for additional room service or meals at the restaurant. As we were very short on time to get to our appointment and couldnt wait or sit down for a meal, we were unable to use those options. Overall, decent facilities, but the service left much to be desired.

  • We stayed 2 nights and had nothing but problems. Our keys didnt work after the first day, then when one got rekeyed the other didnt work and visa versa. Our room was not serviced at all even though someone knocked on my door to ask if we were leaving and when I said no, we are here another night, I asked to have fresh towels she told a housekeeper in the hall. When I told the front desk (if you want to call the temporary one that) about getting my room cleaned later in the day, I was told ""We have until 4:00 to do it."" Then at 7:00 when we got back to the room and it still wasnt done, they sent us fresh towels. The construction was unbelievable. The area in front of the pool was filled with workers who would stare at you as you walked through trying to find the make-shift front desk. There was no way I was going to use the pool with them right there. A little privacy from the construction crew would have been nice!

  • We stayed 2 nights and had nothing but problems. Our keys didnt work after the first day, then when one got rekeyed the other didnt work and visa versa. Our room was not serviced at all even though someone knocked on my door to ask if we were leaving and when I said no, we are here another night, I asked to have fresh towels she told a housekeeper in the hall. When I told the front desk (if you want to call the temporary one that) about getting my room cleaned later in the day, I was told ""We have until 4:00 to do it."" Then at 7:00 when we got back to the room and it still wasnt done, they sent us fresh towels. The construction was unbelievable. The area in front of the pool was filled with workers who would stare at you as you walked through trying to find the make-shift front desk. There was no way I was going to use the pool with them right there. A little privacy from the construction crew would have been nice!
