  • I was very disappointed by this hotel. The picture advertising the pool is a gross misrepresentation of what the property actually looks like. Housekeeping is very poor and allowed the previous guests to leave behind hair and an empty shampoo container in the bathtub. One morning, the maid entered our room before 9:00 am, requiring a shout-out to her to prevent her from intruding on my family. One day, the maid neglected to leave hand towels or plastic liner in the wastebasket. Another day, she neglected to replace the used drinking cups with clean ones. The bathroom is in great need of renovations: the bathtub is stained, with chipped enamel and corroded fixtures, and the shower curtain rod is badly rusted. Apparently, the bathroom door was not cleaned before a fresh coat of paint was applied, for about four pubic hairs were secured to the door. The outlet cover nearly came off the wall as I unplugged the hair dryer. Upon check-in, I was promised a partial view of the ocean from room 209, but what I received was an accidental view; I was able to catch a glimpse of water over a rooftop.Hidden charges are excessive. For example, parking is $8.00 a day (even valet parking), and an automatic charge of $1.00 is applied daily to your bill for the room safe, regardless of need. Additionally, I had booked a tour of the everglades, with transportation to-and-from the hotel, through the hotel at a cost of $135.00 for three people. Due to the hotels error, I had to drive my own family to the site, without an affiliation with the hotel, and I was charged only $53.00 for three people.I have so much more to say, all unflattering, but Im out of space.

They are nasty, I was not given the proper information regarding the charges to my credit card when I checked in, they charge you $* when you CHECK IN as a hold on your account and didnt tell me that until AFTER they ran my DEBIT card. They charge you for the safe whether or not you use it and dont tell you that either. When you complain to the staff their attitude is well thats too bad, NOT ONCE when I complained about my room or the fact that the maid never came one day did anyone say as a courtesy let me do this for you or that. The answer always was nothing I can do for you. The food is HORRENDOUS and RIDICULOUSLY over priced. The pictures are NOT EVEN CLOSE to what the hotel looks like. The nicest part of the hotel is the lobby. The rooms have a weird odor, the ac does not work, the maids dont come everyday and they either show up at 9am or want to clean your room at 230pm they dont come at normal times and even they are rude. I would NEVER stay at this hotel, I dont care how cheap it is. Spend the extra $$ and stay somewhere else. The only thing I liked was the pool but it was overcrowded with children. And not nearly as big as it appears in the picture, in fact its tiny. And they charge you if you want the good chairs that face the beach. There is no way this is a 3 star hotel. BS! DONT STAY HERE!

Coffee maker in room able to have my first cup of coffee before leaving the room. Great pool, and hot tub. Staff very friendly and helpful. Really dont have a bad thing to say about our stay. Would stay there again.

  • The hotel stay was pleasant. Aside from the fact that they charge an $8 daily fee to park and a $1 daily fee to use the safe inside the room, the stay was pleasant. The help was accommodating, available, and professional. No complaints there. The only thing I would say could use some updating was the bathtub in my room. Other than that, the stay was comfortable.

  • We were put on the 2nd floor next to the elevator and our balcony looked out onto a huge kitchen exhaust fan. Room smelled like a cheeseburger. Within 10 seconds of seeing this room, we asked to be moved. We were moved 4 doors down and, again, balcony looked onto huge kitchen exhaust fan. We got to smell bacon every morning and dinner every night. Besides the smell, it was loud and ugly. Also, the toilet in our room kicked on and off appx. every hour. This was NO fun in the middle of the night ! We didnt bother to complain because we felt it would be futile. Other than the room, the rest of the hotel is great for the price.

  • We went to Florida to support the Baltimore Ravens and to celebrate my boyfriends Birthday. We were looking for somewhere not too expensive but still nice. I think we made a great decision picking the Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort. The location was great it was close to many shops and restaurants. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfy. Our room had a partial veiw of the beach which was great. . We only ate breakfast there one morning and it was descent. I didnt like the fact that there was only valet parking at $8 a day, most hotels provide free parking. Overall great vacation, I would consider staying here again.

I think we made a great decision picking the Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort. The location was great it was close to many shops and restaurants. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfy. Our room had a partial veiw of the beach which was great. . We only ate breakfast there one morning and it was descent.   • We choose to have a family reunion at this hotel and what a big mistake. We started planning in March 2008 and the reunion was Labor Day weekend. One week before we were to go they told us that the room for our banquet was being remodeled. OMG. We got there they staff was not very helpful or friendly. At the banquet we felt rushed, they took our plated before when could answer if we here done. the space that they gave us was very tight. The so called security guard at night was a grouch. I would not stay here again or send anyone else there.

They don't tell you you have to pay for parking until you check in $8.00 a day plus it is valet parking so you have to tip. I would not stay here again. Very dissapointed....

  • Got to this hotel late at night and the lady at the reception desk had an attitude problem. The keys issued down in the lobby did not work so we had to go back and forth to the 5th floor numerous times so we could convince her that the door could not be open. The room was old, it smelled and the bathrooms were just disgusting. We used the restaurant to get breakfast, the waitress gave us a hard time about ordering quick cause the cook was busy, the coffee cups had lipstick prints on them, very gross. Good pancakes.

  • As soon as we pulled up to the hotel, the gentleman working the valet was ready to park the car. Upon checking in, the woman at the front desk was very courteous and friendly. She gave me a room with 2 double beds and I asked her if I might please have a room with 1 king bed and she changed it with no problem.Yes, you have to pay $* per day for the valet and lets face it, nobody likes to pay for parking!!! However, the parking attendant was really friendly and would RUN to get my car when he saw me coming. It was in the high 90s each day and he was running around working pretty hard and still smiling. The first night I called downstairs for 2 extra pillows and the housekeeping people said they would bring them right up. About 20 minutes later they still hadnt arrived so I called back and the housekeeping staff was very apologetic and this time they DID run them right up. Pool was clean, beach clean, hotel room clean.We stayed on the 7th floor and there wasnt any construction or grime in the hallways.Tiki bar is pretty quiet and they closed early on Sunday evening. Jacuzzi is nice and spacious. The balconies do not have separating walls between them and I thought that was odd, but nothing to rant about!This is just a basic ammenity hotel. Pool, ocean, friendly staff....Whast more can you expect for the price of this???

  • have stayed in many hotels and resorts,as i love to travel. This was a great stay room was comfortable not new but very clean. Beds were average for hotel.Sheets and towels very clean. No bugs here,that i could see.Pool was clean and right on the ocean .great visit plan to return.

  • I wanted everyone going to Ocean Sky to be aware of some costs they might not expect. If you are parking your car it will cost you $ 9.00 / day. There is a safe in the room that you will be charged $1.00/ day regardless if you use it or not. If you wish to sit in one of there chairs on the beach it will cost you $ 5.00 /chair/ day. Room service was great the first couple of days but deteriated greatly over the week. While I was there they had a power outage for almost 24 hours. It had been almost 90 during the day which made it almost unbearable to sleep at night. When asked if they were going to adjust our bill they flatly refused. The pool area and the beach on the Galt was very nice.

  • I was skeptical at first but loved the resort once we got there, it was not a lot of people there so i had easy access to the pool and hot tub.

  • recently stayed 5 nights at the ocean sky.. granted its not the fanciest hotel but for the price and the location its well worth it. it was clean, the staff was friendly. noted that the shuttle from the airport (hollywood) to the hotel is 40 dollars..its 35 to take a cab... the rooms were nice and the beach is right out the back door. nice pool and hot tub. pretty close to fort lauderdales ""downtown"" area..just a cab ride away. id stay there again for sure.

  • This hotel is fine in terms of ammeneties but the terrible customer service does NOT make it worth it! I am still having problems with them ( a week after being home) charging my account multiple times! They are unfriendly, unhelpful, and RUDE. Whatever you do...do NOT stay at Ocan Sky Resort!!!!

  • I read the reviews and, after staying here, have concluded that the people with nasty reviews are either professional complainers or expect a 5 star hotel when they book a 3 star. The rooms were what I would expect from a 3 star. Not overly fancy, but clean and comfortable. Walls are a little thin so if you get stuck with spring breakers you may lose some sleep like we did. We did not take a car but the $8/day would have been reasonable. We used the safe so the $1/day was worth it. Even if for some reason we didnt use it, its a dollar/day. Not worth complaining about. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not eat at the restaurant but I recomend the Sea Watch restaurant. Great seafood for small $$ and only a $10 cab ride with tip. Location was great. Right on the water. If you dont want to buck up the $5 to sit on the beach, the pool deck is right there with just as good ov a view and all the same sunshine. Tiki bar was ok. $5 for a beer. Overall we were happy with our stay. We booked a 3 star hotel and thats what we got.

  • The hotel was ok. The rooms are almost as nice as the pics. They dont warn you about the valet parking for $8 a day. It is right on the beach. All rooms have a partial ocean view. You go out on your balcony to see the ocean.

  • Stayed here in Feb 08. Everyone was very helpful and courteous. The parking valet, front desk, pool people, everyone. Never had to wait more than 2 minutes for my car. The room was quiet and comfortable and the shower was excellent. The pool is great and is right on the beach - about 30 feet from the water. Area is less congested than most oceanfront areas south of here and there are many stores and restaurants within walking distance. I was very happy with this place and would definitely stay here again. I wish I had a few more days to stay.

While checking in, they required all guests to provide them with copies of all their personal documents like drivers license or passport and credit card they were going to use. Nothing like identity theft in action... They did not even have a shredder to dispose of the copies at check out.They will not accept corporate cards and threatened to call the police when I would not give them more personal identification items to copy. We had to pay with cash to avoid switching hotels late at night. Great customer service... making a group of high students move hotels late at night on a Sunday because they could not verify the corporate card in question. then to threaten kids with the police... It will make a great story later in life, but not at that point. Im sure there are better places to stay along the beach that are familiar with the term customer service.

  • Believe every review read about this hotel. This hotel needs a complete overall. The only nice thing in the hotel is the lobby. Ive stayed at better Holiday Inns than this hotel. The furniture is old, the balconys have dirty white plastic chairs, the rooms and bathrooms need to be painted, cleaned, updated. It is obvious the rooms arent cleaned very well as we used an outlet behind the mini fridge and could see crumbs, empty water bottles behind the fridge and dresser. The only thing that helped me sleep at night was not seeing any bugs. We had 4 people in one room and 3 in another. Housekeeping refused to give us more than 2 bath towels. We had to take towels and wash cloths off their carts when they werent looking! The cost for valet parking is a joke ($8 per day) and there is a fee for the safe deposit box ($1 per day) as well. The only nice thing about the hotel was the location. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

  • The front lobby was no indication of the room conditions; room was clean but had paint pealing off wall and wall outlet had no cover on it. Shower area was clean though. The food was way over-priced. I spent $20.00 on a salad, drinks at ""Tiki hut""were reasonable.There was a McDonalds across the street, and an awesome Greek resturant 1/4 mile south on A1A.You had to rent chairs down on the beach;$5.00ea. Went during spring break, and mang. kept it pretty quite. rides to and from airport are fixed- take a cab! If your looking for a quiet vacation all in all not too bad

  • We were in town for the day to see a Marlins/Pirates baseball game before boarding the next day for a cruise and needed a place for one night. Believe me, I researched Ft. Lauderdale hotels on the beach and this was the best value for my money. From the overall size and style of the building outside and the main lobby area, you can tell it is an older establishment...being an opulant hotel in its day. The room was a good size, the balcony was a bonus. Even though our room was on the side of the building, we still had an ocean view. The carpeting was a little tired looking, but the smaller-than-usual hotel bathroom looked like it was recently renovated, with new stone tile and lighting. For those complaining about the $8 a day valet, its obvious they havent traveled to larger cities, where valet parking is the only option and over $10 a day. The valet service was excellent, the breakfast out on the patio was nice and the location to the airport is good. It was a little hard finding the place during the day, with every hotel beginning with the word ""Ocean"", but the exterior illuminates into an ocean blue in the evening! We would definitely stay again when were in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

I was really annoyed with the safe charges. The valet parking attendents were very friendly even thtough you get charged $8.00 a day. You can self park, but you still get charged the $8.00 so you might as well valet it. We did not eat there so I cannot comment on the food. The pool was clean and warm. The only other complaint would be the roughness of all the towels. I do not think they have heard of fabric softener. They reminded me of the towels we used to get in gym class in high school.
