  • Stayed two nights at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge Ma. Great room with a 35 flat screen TV and in the bathroom a remote that turned an a TV screen built into the mirror. Pretty interesting!! We ate Rialtos ( hotel restuarant ) during our stay. The meal and the service were both great. Food was interesting and very tasty. Jody Adams ( the Chef) visited our table and spent 6-7 minutes talking to us which was a very nice touch. WE worked out in the gym which had a good mixture of machines and a nice pool. Overall experience was great and we would go back in a heartbeat.

  • I loved this hotel. The bed was super comfy, the bathroom clean and spacious. I especially liked the in-mirror tv in the bathroom...very cool. The hotel is right in the heart of Harvard Square with a ton of shopping and restaurants, but also close to the T and buses. My only complaint would be the price, but you get what you pay for.

  • There is really only one reason to ever stay at the Charles: location. If you need close proximity to the Square, the Charles is situated ideally close to most central locations. I truly wish I could say more positive things about the hotel. Unfortunately I cant. One, what you get for what you pay for is incredibly disconnected. I paid $+ for a room which at best could be described as mediocre. This is coming from someone who travels frequently for business and has also much experience with the price/quality of the better NYC hotels (even though I reside in the city). Even in NY you get much more for what you get at the Charles, which is at the end of the day probably a comp to an Embassy Suites but charges 2x the rate. If you are expecting a $ room you will be wholly disappointed. The service is also TERRIBLE for a supposedly ""higher-service"" establishment. I was charged for a full extra night even though I had called in advance to cancel. In complete fairness I had admittedly called 36 hrs in advance of my initial arrival date (thinking that the cancellation policy was 24 hrs, when in actuality it was 48) - if that was the reason they claimed to charge me for the extra night then fine: however when I spoke with their representative after the fact, she stated that they had ""no record"" of me ever calling. This may be factually true from her perspective (and also factually true from mine that I had), but that is almost besides the point: the fundamental problem with this is that for a HIGH STAR hotel, guests are not supposed to be treated that way. It isnt my problem they cant keep records on their end.
