  • Anything you wanted to do was in 10-15 minutes of the hotel. Biggest hot tub I have ever seen! Heated pool. Beautiful harbor. John Cain, the piano player in the Tangiers lounge made our trip! Staff of the bar was great too! They really helped us with our sightseeing. Concierge would print off directions for us. Dollar off happy hours. Clean rooms. Can park right next to room. Nice porch with vegetation and pools. Cute seal in front of hotel. There should have been a better choice for the food. We did not eat at the hotel because it was pricey. San Diego is beautiful! Great city.

  • I booked a hotel for my husbands 40th birthday on December 6th. I booked it at The Bahia Resort in San Diego. I paid the extra price for the room upgrade. When we arrived there, the hotel staff was extremely rude, they stuck us in a HORRIBLE room that smelled like mold and told me that they know NOTHING about an upgrade offer and they would not be able to honor it. I called housekeeping and asked for air freshener, they never came. We stayed away from the room as much as possible. I really wish I would not have spent that much on a room that smelled like a dirty laundry bin, had NO heated pool (unlike it was stated in their profile), and had such uncaring staff on hand. Not my idea of a resort or a good place to take my husband for his 40th birthday.

  • My extended family and I stayed in the Bahia Resort during a family members nearby wedding. We had 10 rooms in all. Almost all of the rooms were substandard - cracked tubs, stained carpets, very little natural light, and very dated decor. The grounds and restaurant/bar were very nice, but the rooms were depressing. We had to switch rooms one night because there were large cockroaches in the closet. They then put us in a room next to the dumpster - which was not emptied over the weekend and smelled badly. For the price we paid, the hotel was a real disappointment. All of the other rooms in our block were substandard as well. It is clear the hotel is riding on its location and its amenities and has invested little in room upkeep or modernization. But if the quality of the room doesnt matter much to you, the hotels location cant be beat.

  • My husband and I stayed in February. We had almost the whole place to ourselves. It was wonderful. We stayed in a garden room, but had a view of Mission Bay. I love the seals near the lobby, particularly Gracie. Perfect walking distance to the ocean. Also on a very easy to navigate bus line (8/9) to nearby attractions, restaurants. Shuttle to airport was very efficient. Very friendly workers. Beautiful pool and huge spa. Game room with free games. Cant wait to go back.

  • My husband and I stayed in February. We had almost the whole place to ourselves. It was wonderful. We stayed in a garden room, but had a view of Mission Bay.   • Came to San Diego to watch Chargers pre-season game; this hotel was in a great location not far from airport (some fly-over noise may bother some people). Staff was very friendly and helpful. We felt really safe as it seemed it was really well staffed and had security patrolling parking lot on bikes etc. Had a blast at the pool area, the kids loved the free play arcade area. Beds were a bit on the hard side and would recommend if you want separate areas for yourself and the kids get two rooms or possibly a bungalow. We stayed in the 4 story building at the back of the property but am curious how the rest of the hotel is as the little beach front bungalows looked really inviting! Definately would recommend to families with children in the middle school to high school range We ate ate the restaraunt twice and it was great both times. Also ordered breakfast thru room service and it was good. San Diego is beautiful so you cant go wrong. This hotel is really close to Sea World and we were able to see the fireworks over the bay each night.

  • When first arriving to the hotel, it looked a little old and outdated. It is a bit. We stayed in the huge tower type complex and the rooms were really good sized. They had a small microwave, refrigerator and some shelves in case you were staying for a week. You could easily reheat your meals in your room. Bring in snacks and drinks that might need refrigeration. The bathroom was nice and good sized. Its right on a bay on one side and near the beach on the other side just down the street. Its easy walking distance to the beach with lots of great places to shop.They have two sea lions in a swimming area just in front of the cafe at the hotel. They are fun to watch. The grounds are kept looking nice and there are other units that appear to be different from the tower. We were there for a wedding and it took place on the back side of the pool. There was a little water pond, with palm trees and a gazebo. It was a perfect place to have the wedding. I would recommend this hotel if you are interested in being close to the beach and are able to walk short distances.

  • This was a nice departure from the standard chain hotels. The location could not have been better! Easy access to all the attractions and activities that we wanted to see and do. Handicap parking and access was less than ideal, but manageable. Pool area was very nice.

  • the resort is fairly old (we knew that going in), but we are nostalgic people, so that did not bother us. as long as a place is clean, we dont care how old it is, and the bahia is clean. we stayed in a nice suite, but there was no coffee table in front of the couch and loveseat. but the bedding was very clean, and we liked the fact that they put a bottom sheet, then a top sheet, then a blanket, then another top sheet. that felt very cozy and clean. the car traffic pattern was a little strange due to the exits at one end of the resort being closed. the restaurant and bar were somewhat dark and uninviting, so we did not try them. but overall, we liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the cleanliness of the room. it was a very good value, and i think we would go back.

The horrible part of our stay was when we woke up at 5:30am and our 2 year old son had left the room and gone wandering in the parking lot. Hotel security luckily found him and had him as we frantically were searching for him. The room (#129) didnt have the security latch on it that every hotel I have stayed in for as long as I can remember has had. He was able to pull the door knob and leave. The wall mounted airconditioner/heater was so loud, it would have been impossible to hear him go.Needless, to say, we checked out that morning and stayed at the Hyatt Mission Bay, which was wonderful.But even if you dont have small children, shouldnt you be able to lock your hotel from the inside securely?

  • We received a garden view filthy room that was extremely outdated, after we had been told we would be receiving a suite with a bay view. Our sheets were not clean nor changed. There was not a blow dryer or a coffee pot and one of the drawers was broken. The pool was closed and the restaurant was overpriced and the food was terrible. We sat an entire meal without ever seeing a waitress and when we were ready to pay, no one wanted to help us because we needed to pay the wait person we never saw. The photos looked wonderful, but believe me it is nothing like the photos.

  • It was a great place to stay.We had off season prices so it was very resonable.Free play arcade games was great and the seals were alot of fun.The desk was very helpful,we needed a crib and got it no charge.A bit outdated but had everything in room(dishes,pots and pans and silerware).Only trouble was it was windy and power went off twice.

  • THe Resort is located within a short walk to the Ocean and Boardwalk. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had some great meals in the restaurant.This place is a real bargain. The rooms are large and clean. We had a great view of Mission Bay. But I must admit I was somewhat disappointed with the state of the furniture in our Suite. The sofas and beds were good but the rest of the furniture was dated and worn. The Travel rooms have not been updated which was not the case for the rest of the Resort. We had expected to get a FREE CRUISE on the Bay but we were told there were""contractual problems with the operators of the Cruise ships. We were told we could go into San Diego and take a cruise (at our expense.) Even with these problems, we did enjoy our stay and would return.

  • We spent $200-300+ per night and I expected at least a decent room. What we got was an old kitchenette unit with painted cinderblock walls and a dingy bedroom. Being bayfront seemed like a good idea, but ours faced the public beach side and we never felt quite safe opening up the doors to see the view(which wasnt that great anyway being covered up by foliage). Im not sure what the other rooms look like on the private beach side (maybe more like the beautiful photos they post for the Bahia?), but at least the beach on that side is nice for kids. The pool is nice, but still not worth spending $200 plus. We generally stay at Embassy Suites and Doubletrees for much less than what we paid at Bahia and get rooms twice as nice. I totally regret not moving to another hotel after seeing what the room looked like!

  • I realize the resort is a bit old but we were sorely disappointed. We requested a King size bed but got a suite with two double beds. When I asked to change rooms so we could have a larger bed we were given a standard size room; the staff seemed a bit unclear on the concept and not at all interested in what I wanted. Not rude, just not helpful. The suite itself wasnt much to write home about. The bedroom was basically a cinderblock room; looked a bit like what I imagine a jail cell looks like but did at least have a window. A window we couldnt open at night to get fresh air because it overlooked the walkway to the other rooms. And the air conditioning is in the main part of the suite and doesnt really reach very far. The hotel grounds are very pretty and I imagine the rooms right on the beach might be nice. But I expected more for $285/night.

  • I realize the resort is a bit old but we were sorely disappointed. We requested a King size bed but got a suite with two double beds. When I asked to change rooms so we could have a larger bed we were given a standard size room; the staff seemed a bit unclear on the concept and not at all interested in what I wanted. Not rude, just not helpful. The suite itself wasnt much to write home about. The bedroom was basically a cinderblock room; looked a bit like what I imagine a jail cell looks like but did at least have a window.   • We arrived at check in time and was told to wait for 5 to 10 minutes for the room to be cleaned. I was furious in waiting the front desk staff was not giving me any follow up on the room. I went to the counter again after almost 30 minutes of waiting and the supervisor saw me standing in front of the counter and helped me I told him the situation and he got on the computer and immediately gave me my room keys. As I entered the room I was shocked he gave me a suite the view is in front of the bay. Thats what I call customer service by far. X is his name and he was very professional and I will be staying there again in the future. Clean rooms no bad comment about Bahia except for the front desk staff lack of professional courtesy to wards their guest.

  • This is a great place to stay. I would definitely recommend to anyone. A great place if you are looking for peace and relaxation becuz they have their own beach on the bay but its walking distance from the ocean beach which was one of the best beaches I have been on. The location is wonderful. 15 minutes from downtown,padres game,zoo,sea world and all popular places in san diego. Our room was HUGE! We stayed in the Bay Room Suite, its like having your own apt, you could live there for weeks. I would recommend them to trim the trees outside of our balcony, they are blocking some of the view.

The room smelled old and musty, the bed was hard and sank down in the middle, and walls were made out of cinderblocks. Yes, it was on the beach, but the beach wasnt that nice, and it was kind of weird having people walk by and look right into your room. I just felt creepy the whole time, and we dreaded having to come back to the room. Save your money and your trip, do not stay at the Bahia!!

  • We stayed in a Bayview Suite. Kitchen was supplied with microwave, place settings for 4 people. We were able to see firework show from Seaworld. Quiet. Nice dining area, indoors and outside seating.The only negative would be the late, 4 pm check in time. A futon may be a better living room bed than the couch pull-out bed.My daughter got married in their garden area, had the reception in a recently remodeled room looking out to the two paddleboats. Afterwards, some of the wedding party took a night cruise of the bay on the Bahia Belle. Great wedding site.

  • We had a room facing the play ground and the privite beach. good if you have kids as we did but not good if you dont, very loud. many weddings on the beach in front of room meant you had to wait to use beach. this is a very busy hotel with seminares and daily meetings so we never had a parking spot in front of our room until late every evening even though they give you a parking pass for your car they never enforced it. there was a party in the room next to ours one nite and they used our patio and chairs while we were in our room until 1am there simply is no effective security. Room service was timely but the three times we used it there was always something missing and the morning we left I had to make two calls and explain what the menu said I was to get and what they brought was not the same. housekeeping was the same always missing something, one day now towels, the next no coffee for the coffee maker, or no hand towels, or no new soap. the staff was always nice and friendly just not very consistant. This is an old hotel but it is clean if not very modern and the location is very good. It is a good hotel if you have children but not if you are looking piece and quite. I would stay here again only to have a room further down the beach.

  • This Hotel is nice because It is right on the water, however, it STUNK. The rooms are full of mold (you could smell the heavy odor), the area by the hotel wasnt very safe, and the staff was not very accommodating. I was looking for a romantic getaway for my husband and I. I was very disappointed what I found. I would not stay at this hotel again.

  • If you stay here, do not request Bay View and expect a luxurious room. The room is extremely dated, and worn down. The cost was astronomical for what we got, we could not have been more disappointed when we arrived. However, when we complained, they did move us to an updated room that was VERY nice. Huge bathroom, granite counter tops, new furnishings. All the difference in the world. Request a room in the two story building with a garden view that has been updated. It was actually cheaper! The people who worked there were very nice and very accomodating. I am rating the hotel low because of what we got the first time around. We should have done more research.

  • MY husband and I spent a week at this hotel and loved it! We were upgraded to a King Suite. It overlooked the water with a great view of the paddleboat. Every employee we passed greeted us with a friendly hello. The pool was warm and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and also tried a couple of their happy hour drinks. Very Yummy! We will definately stay here again next year!

  • I planned a trip to this hotel because it looked nice, clean and like a resort on the web page. It is not a stretch for us to pay 200-300 a night for rooms, that are high quality---this was awful...a nightmare..disgusting and a waste of my money. My family and i were expecting to stay in a resort...this was not a resort...it was disgusting. The pictures on the web page are false advertising. The pool is cramped and dirty. There is nobody available at the pool to get soft drinks or food..not that I would have ordered any. The bedrooms are dingy. The whole experience was one of the worst. I wish we had switched hotels but time did not allow. If you want a nice vacation at a nice hotel tTHIS IS NOT WHERE YOU SHOULD VACATION. The seal pool has 2 sickly seals. My daughter was horrified when she saw the blind, sickly seals and wanted us to call the humane society. We are currently in the process of doing just that. It is inhumane to have those seals in such shallow dirty water. I would recommend you stay somehwere else....this is not worth your money, time, energy or vacation time ---BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!

The service however was good, the staff friendly, the restaurant good, I just couldnt get over how old the room was. It would have been okay if it would have been updated at some point.
