  • Do not stay here. It is not worth the $ you will spend. Rooms are tiny, dark, perhaps a coal mine might be better lite. You have two options for a shower; HOT HOT HOT or Icicles on your nose. Unlike a typical Best Western there was not a continental breakfast, we waited 25 min. and still our order had not been taken. Spend $* more and stay in La Jolla! The hotel looks nothing like the pictures that are posted on this website. It is old and dingy.

  • Wonderful experience. Room was cleaned spotless every day and much larger than expected. Great location for everything yet super quiet at night. 7 mintes from airport, about the same for all major highways. Go in the off season because prices in summer are very high.

  • Just returned from our 25th anniversary trip to San Digeo. The Best Western Island Palms is amazing. We loved it. The room was beautiful. It was large and clean with comfortable beds. We were in a lovely corner room. We had a balcony from which we could see the marina and the bay. We also had a large window that gave us a full view of the bay. We could watch the small boats and an occasional cruise ship. The grounds and lobby were beautiful also. There is a nice area across the street with a lovely path to walk on. The marina is on the other side of the hotel and is nice to watch the boats. We arrived at the hotel after a long day of flying from the east coast and driving from Los Angeles. Both of us were tired but hungry. The restaurant staff was wonderful in having our food order placed in to go boxes. They even supplied us with wonderful bread and utensils. They definitely went above and beyond to make us feel special. This was the feeling from the entire staff. They are very friendly and willing to do what it takes to make your stay special. The food was delicious. We had breakfast in the restaurant. The food again was delicious. We had a table by the window and was amazed at the view. We didnt go in the pool but did it looked wonderful. The hotel is close to the airport, zoo and other attractions. We will definitely plan to make another trip back to the BW Island Palms.

  • Excellent hotel. The staff is phenomenal. The room was very nice had a wonderful view. The food there is excellent and the pools are great. There was hardly anyone ever in the smaller pool, but the larger pool had the bar. The hotel is a bit isolated and since we didnt rent a car it was a bit of a pain to get anywhere. However, when they were able the hotel did provide a shuttle as it did to the zoo and to Midway. They seemed to bend over backwards to help when they could. It is a bit of a walk to any restaurant other than the hotels on the island, but if you get a chance DEFINATELY walk down to Umi Sushi. Great food. Also go rent a kayak at Sharkeys! Paddle out to see the sea lions on the bouys! My son and I had a tremenous time and do plan on staying there again as soon as possible.

  • Excellent hotel. The staff is phenomenal. The room was very nice had a wonderful view. The food there is excellent and the pools are great. There was hardly anyone ever in the smaller pool, but the larger pool had the bar. The hotel is a bit isolated and since we didnt rent a car it was a bit of a pain to get anywhere. However, when they were able the hotel did provide a shuttle as it did to the zoo and to Midway. They seemed to bend over backwards to help when they could. It is a bit of a walk to any restaurant other than the hotels on the island, but if you get a chance DEFINATELY walk down to Umi Sushi. Great food. Also go rent a kayak at Sharkeys! Paddle out to see the sea lions on the bouys! My son and I had a tremenous time and do plan on staying there again as soon as possible.

  • Beautiful hotel, comfortable, clean and spacious rooms, which had microwave and refrigerator. I recommend spending a little more money and getting a junior suite on the second floor. The facilities are very clean and impressive. They have two pools and two whirlpools. The fitness room was small but well equipped. The laundry room was a good thing to have as we needed some clean cloths near the end of our vacation. The ground keepers were always working hard keeping everything clean and looking good.Hotel location is wonderful?We had many pleasurable walks along the marina. Very romantic and soothing! Make sure that you take advantage of the hotel?s free bicycles to ride around the area.The staff at the front desk was extremely courteous and helpful.The only negative was that there was no complimentary breakfast offered. It should have been included given the cost of the room, however all nice hotels in the area were even more expensive for not much better.As far as restaurants go, we recommend a Greek restaurant about 10 minutes away on Rosecrans Blvd called Georgia?s Greek Restaurant. We also enjoyed and recommend going to Cabrillo National Monument. We went to the Zoo, but wished we had gone to Sea World instead.

  • Stayed in the Casa Del Mar building on the second floor. It was hot and the air conditioner made more noise, then blow cool air. The rooms need to be updated, but the location was wonderful. Nice quiet area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Computer with free internet in main lobby was a great help. Would stay here again.

  • This is very upscale Best Western and you can tell by the price you pay per night for your room. The staff was very friendly and helpful with fresh baked cookies everyday at 2pm, but the price was a bit too high for a casual weekend or any weekend at all in San Diego.I was not aware how many other hotels were around my location and within walking distance to the marina, I should have researched better because they were far more competitive in their prices. I could have saved $200 just by staying across the way. =(But in hand I do have to add that the Staff went over and beyond to make sure your comfort there was anything but perfect.

  • Staff was helpful with plans for Seaworld and sympathetic over rain. They offered great directions to local attractions and the room was right on the marina...very pretty. The fridge and coffee machine is in the bathroom which is a little weird and the room was tight, but clean and in good shape.

  • Staff was helpful with plans for Seaworld and sympathetic over rain. They offered great directions to local attractions and the room was right on the marina...very pretty.   • We stayed in their Casa Del Mar building -2nd floor- which was separate from the main building. We had a huge suite with a kitchenette. We also had a view of the Bay which was beautiful. The decor is a bit dated that was to be expected. It is 10 minutes from all major attractions. Near many restaurants. I would stay here again.
