  • We stayed at Ocean Blue the week before the Christmas. The employees are nice and trying their best. The food at buffet and Dominican restaurant is good. But the food at Mexican restaurant was overcooked. The room is clean but has a musty smell. We stayed there for 6 nights and they didnt clean our room and give us clean towels for 1 day since there were many guests checking in on that day and the maids were overwhelmed. The beach is clean and awesome. There are a bar and a buffet restaurant on beach. We had a lot of fun in Punta Cana and will definitely go back. By the way, the water in pool is cold. It would be nice if they can heat it. Actually, the ocean water is much warmer. We didnt mind since we swam in ocean insteal of the pool.

  • Pros:We went to Punta Cana in October. We went with friends and we are all coming back this year. Our room was nice and clean. The staff overall were very frienly and helpful. Make sure you bring plenty of dollar bills for tips because it is very hard to get change there. The pool bar and beach bar are great. We had so much fun and the bartenders are entertaining and funny. The food took a little getting used to. But after I got home I actually craved Domincan Food. The Domincan restaurant was wonderful. You have to try the Quail Soup! We went to eat there more than any of the other restaurants. The Italian restaurnat is excellent also. I would recommend the Safari Tour. If you dont do an excursion you are missing out. The Safari Tour is very informative about the history and culture of the Dominican. The casino is fun, although its only open in the evenings. Cons:Maid service was a little slow, but they did a good job. Staff were friendly, except for the computer room. Stores are very expensive so bring plenty of sunscreen because you will pay twice the price in their shop. The beach shops are very pricy too. I didnt buy anything unless I talked them down on the price, and they knew that. Thats why they set the price so high. Some of the the people working in these shops were very rude. We are looking foreward to going back.

  • We looked at reveiws of this hotel ahead of our trip and were concerned with our choice. Ended up having a good vacation. Its not the top end place , but it was a relaxing time with what we needed. We were warned about the time share people from the reviews and glad we had a heads up. They are annoying especially when youve flown all day and just want to get to your room and the pool. We just told them we knew where to go and please just let us get to our rooms. The seafood resturant that had a charge for, was so-so. We couldnt get into the wine cellar resturant , so we did the beach seafood. The lobster was just ok. Expectations were higher for this place because of the $ surcharge.Lighting was dim , but we spent so little time in the room that it made little difference. Shower preasure was the more important issue and could easily be fixed with a better pump! A good maintainece guy could solve alot of their issues. The rest of the place was great. We werent partaking in most activities, just enjoying relaxing and de-stressing. Looked like the pool bar was having a great time!The reason for not going back would be the wind is always blowing on the beach, and we like to go other places.Keep in mind the location and alot of the issues others had are put into perpective. The things they can fix though, should be addressed. Overall I am glad we went and didnt get turned off by the bad reviews.

  • We had an amazing time in Punta Cana. We really loved our resort... everything was all inclusive! Unlimited drinks, food, and entertainment... It really was an experience... Another girl and I traveled together and we loved it! My only complaint is that they say the water activities are ALL INCLUSIVE but you have to PAY $45 dollars for a lesson. So not really included... I would deffinitely return.

  • We had an amazing time in Punta Cana. We really loved our resort... everything was all inclusive! Unlimited drinks, food, and entertainment... It really was an experience... Another girl and I traveled together and we loved it! My only complaint is that they say the water activities are ALL INCLUSIVE but you have to PAY $45 dollars for a lesson. So not really included...   • Beautiful place. Awesome trip. The service is excellent. The lobby bar is so much fun at night and there is so much beach and pool space, we never had trouble finding a lounge chair. You must pay $10 cash/person when you enter the country at the airport. Get to the restaurants early to get a table. There are shops along the beach you can purchase things like t-shirts and stuff. These shops you can bargain with. I took a calling card down, but it didnt work. This was one of the most relaxing trips we have taken.

  • Great beach and pool although water was cold (maybe Atlantic not Caribbean.) Bars were very good - tip the bartenders and you'll get top-shelf brands, no extra charge. Clean, no bugs like other Punta Cana properties. Very nice helpful staff. Food plentiful but not very good in any free restaurants. DO NOT waste your time with the hard -sell come see the property tours - they don't leave you alone. Say you'll make the breakfast appointment later and then don't. If they see you and bug you - say you already did it.

  • This was one of the best vacations ever, my teenage girls had a blast! Everyone was very friendly and more than happy to get you everything you wanted.night shows were very entertaining and lots of fun,my daughters enjoyed the beach party and the disco.Food was very good and lots to choose from.definately try the dominican restaruant the shrimp is GREAT.Rooms were nice and roomy.Beaches were the best always lots of chairs. weather was perfect.Cant say anything bad,loved everything,we are looking forward to going back next year!!!!!

  • If your looking for a review of the hotel, I wouldnt be able to tell you. My girlfriend and I booked a vacation to the Ocean Blue resort approx. six months in advance. When we arrived we were told that the hotel didnt have a room for us, and we were forced to spend our vaca in another resort. From what I understand this is a very common practice during high volume travel times. Spend a little more cash and travel elsewhere. Disappointed with D.R.

  • DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS!!! Definately upgrade to the deluxe sweet which is called the elite club. You get massages, horseback riding, room service, and the pay restaurants included. Definately worth it. This hotel was excellent not a bad thing to say about it. Beach is beautiful, food was course meals at night, and the staff was more than friendly. If anyone is thinking to go and are not sure, E-Mail me and I will answer any questioins.

  • this hotel is located on a beautiful stretch of beach. overall, it is acceptable. the food was okay, pool location and size was nice. customer service is non-existent. front desk/receptionists were outright rude. we had a large leak in the room but there was no attempts made to switch rooms or fix the problem. the leak was the size of a little lake that spanned the space of the bathroom, front hall, and the front door.

  • We spent a week at this hotel in April. Room was clean and spacious although we found the bed to be very hard. A/C was pretty cold and didnt seem to adjust which was OK by me but my wife likes it warmer. Resort is well set out and the pools are great places to spend the day, although get up early to put towels out if you want a good spot, and even earlier if you wanted one on the beach. Beach was beautiful with safe swimming. Was disappointed not to have staff taking drink orders at the pool that has been the experience in other resorts, but the bars were all over the place so it wasnt a big deal. Food was great although I am mystified as to their beef restaurant which you have to pay for and reserve in advance. It seems to be they don?t really want customers. I called several times during the afternoon to reserve a table and got no answer, then was finally told it was too late to book for that night. However walking past it around the time we would have gone, it was empty and was when we walked past it again later that night. The entire week we were there I saw 4 people in there. So the good things: Nice situation, beaches and pools great. Food good, staff generally friendly and professional. The bad.. we had a 4 year old and all the shows started too late for him. It would be nice to see something starting around 7:30 to give the younger children and their parents a chance. And NO! We do NOT want a *$%&* timeshare! Avoid the welcome breakfast at all costs!. All in all a good place for families

  • Boyfriend and I traveled for Memorial Weekend. The check in was quick but gave us the wrong room. The next morning we were changed Once you arrive at the hotel, they direct you to the H10 table. They give you the whole speech about being ""VIP"" (NOT TRUE). They promise you a VIP breakfast, which in fact is the buffet restaurant. H10s secret office is located in the buffet restaurant. They managed to make our trip a nightmare. We spent all day Friday being harassed to buy a timeshare and upgrade to VIP. We left their offices upset. The bartenders were awful!!!! One bartender refused to serve me a Corona after seeing him drink one in front of me. He kept telling us they did not have any Coronas. Do not book any tours with Prieto Tours!!!! I had to literally argue with the agent that sold us an excursion that never picked us up to get our money back. The food at the buffet was good. Everything else sucked!!!

They give you the whole speech about being ""VIP"" (NOT TRUE). They promise you a VIP breakfast, which in fact is the buffet restaurant. H10s secret office is located in the buffet restaurant. They managed to make our trip a nightmare. We spent all day Friday being harassed to buy a timeshare and upgrade to VIP. We left their offices upset. The bartenders were awful!!!! One bartender refused to serve me a Corona after seeing him drink one in front of me. He kept telling us they did not have any Coronas. Do not book any tours with Prieto Tours!!!! I had to literally argue with the agent that sold us an excursion that never picked us up to get our money back. The food at the buffet was good. Everything else sucked!!!

I took offense to the fact that I couldnt get into my room - after a long flight - until I had to endure 45 minutes of a sales pitch. Please warn clients to be alert to this.After a complaint about a bad odor in the room (it had not been used in some time), it was cleaned and taken care of in a timely manner

  • We spent 10 days at the Ocean Blue in January. We took three kids ages 19, 17, 14. All of us had a wonderful time. The resort was not too crowded, there were no long lines and the staff catered to the kids. The pools are beautiful and the beach is very nice and clean. There is plenty to do including games, rock climbing, bowling, boating. The restaurants are typical for this area, but very clean and with a great variety of food. The rooms were quite nice and comfortable. The shows at night were good to excellent. There is a great coffee shop called Mikes cafe for snacks or relaxing after the shows. There is a midnight buffet in the sports bar. They have a new teen lounge with a staff member supervisor which is a good safe place for kids. Some hints are: bring plenty of $1 bills and tip everyone, bring 100 watt bulbs since the lighting in the room is low.The shopping complex on the beach next door is great for souveniers and clothes/jewelry/cigar purchases but you need to bargain. Take anything with you that you might need, the shops in the resort are very expensive for necessities.We had a fantastic time at this resort and would highly recommend it.

  • we just got back from the ocean blue and sand very nice place .it was our third time inpunta cana we had stayed at the iberstar both of them they are very very nice i have nothing to say bad about the ocean blue . other people on our flight stayed at the bavaro princess said they would never go back again. they just booked the wrong resort. beach bar is awesomeX and X are great tenders and entertainment best ever very sweet guys.rooms very clean nice beds very comfortable food was good . cold beer lots of shots and top shelf liquer execept jim beam they had absoulute . met very nice people from england sue and mic love the place . we always go to mexico and punta cana if you go go here.if you go to mexico dont everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr go the grand sirienis is not a good hotelwe went in july awfullllllll..that s it

The food was just beyond words, fresh bread, pastries daily. Fruit shakes of what ever fruit you wish papaya, mango, pineapple. The rooms were perfect clean not smelly, the drinks well not (1) person said a bad thing about this place I will go back their in a heart beat. I was in PUerto Plata this past July and I am going back to Punta Cana, better beaches, food, but in all of Dominican Republic the staff has always gone out of their way for me and wonderful people.

  • We had our wedding there and the food was great. Cheap wedding turned out perfect on the beach. Wedding coordinator did a wonderful job. This will be a permanent vacation spot for years for me and my family. If you want to get away to a beautiful beach and great food all day with wonderful pools this is your hotel.

  • This is our 6th time to Dom. Republic, and our 2nd time at Ocean Blue... We stayed last year... It was again the best vacation we had.... Beautiful blue waters, clean beaches.. Plenty of beach and pool chairs.. and outstanding staff,, from the housekeeper to the waitstaff and those fabulous bartenders, at the lobby bar and the beach bar..The music in the lobby bar was great,, Carlos and Jose playing the keyboard and saxaphone were really good... Plus the weather except for 1 day was 80-85 sunny with a great breeze... It would rain at night at times but the days were wonderful, my 20 year old had a good time with all the people she met.Food was fine.. Breakfast there was perfect so much to choose from,Dinners were good to, and not to long a wait to get into a restaurant, if it was the buffet had a great assortment of kinds of foods..The liquor was fine.. plenty of corona, and top shelf brands, was never a problem.. please what couldnt be better than having nice sunny weather and sitting at a beautiful beach over the December Christmas vacation...They did a great job of Christmas Eve,and New Years Eve... Good food and good funBeach shops were fine, and you could name your price,,,Some really cute dogs to on that beach, which we remembered from last year. and many puppys toooo..A great price for what you get... If you go bring 100 lite bulbs the rooms are a little dark, a scented candle the rooms just needed that, and I missed eyeglass cleaner, the salt water a the beach always made them dirty.. Pack plenty of bathing suits and flip flops as its so very casual.. cant wait to go back
