  • When we checked in and I saw a ""white noise"" machine and earplugs I figured i was in for a bad weekend. As it turned out, it was not very noisy, since W 35th Street is in the garment district and does not get much traffic at night. The location is near Macys, the Empire State Bldg and Madison Sq Garden, and although our room was clean and adequate in size, the neighborhood left a lot to be desired. The street was dark & dirty and close to 8th Ave where the riff raff begins to pick up. I did not use the small workout facility, but it appeared to be newer equipment. The free breakfast was OK for free, but we opted to pay for a real breakfast the next day at a neighboring restaurant.As I looked up other options after I got home, I realized that I could have been someplace much nicer, for less money. Lesson learned.

As it turned out, it was not very noisy, since W 35th Street is in the garment district and does not get much traffic at night. The location is near Macys, the Empire State Bldg and Madison Sq Garden, and although our room was clean and adequate in size, the neighborhood left a lot to be desired.   • Wingate - all positive. Free full breakfast, great location in garment district new hotel w/ big rooms for NYC standards, free wireless, free business office, and best of all the STAFF! no NYC attitude - very accomodating. Incredible front desk personnel especially Hussein.

  • What a pleasant stay!! Thats what we and our friends said at the end of our seven nights at the Wingate by Wyndham! We were extremely pleased by everything about our stay. The location was very convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were good-sized and always clean. We enjoyed the restaurant/lounge staff most especially! They got to know us right away, and it was almost like they became friends of ours! We enjoyed the breakfasts a lot, and the evenings on the front ""patio"" were great. The manager and the wait staff were so friendly. We really enjoyed the Happy Hour times we spent there, as well as unwinding after our days activities. They were always wanting to hear about our day, and the service was incredible! A definite highlight of our stay!!When it came time to leave, the front desk people lined up our airport transportation very efficiently, and our vehicle was actually 15 minutes early in arriving to take us to the airport. There were no problems checking in or out.All in all it was a great experience! We would recommend the hotel and restaurant very, very highly!! We will definitely stay there again sometime!!

  • staff was great from beginning to end. midtown location is close to everything you want see. only 6 rooms per floor makes for a quiet stay, besides the normal new york noise youll hear staying everywhere. great breakfast included everyday. would recommend and will stay again.

  • As previous reviewers have stated, this is a wonderful hotel: all the staff were friendly and exceedingly helpful, its in a perfect location (1-2 blocks to train and subwary stations; literally around the corner from Macys, easy walk to Times Square, Midtown, Chelsea, Empire State Building, and much more of course), and the rooms were very nice. Thought we might feel unsafe walking back to the hotel at night but the desk clerk assured us its fine at night and he was right! When we were unable to find an available cab at LIncoln Center after an event, we took the subway and walked back to the hotel without any problem. There are plenty of eateries in the neighborhood and having a small fridge/micro in the room came in handy for leftovers/snacks.

  • The staff was so helpful. Our flight in was early a.m. so they held our luggage until a room was available, our flight out was very late p.m. and they did the same. Front desk was always able to give us very accurate subway travel routes to our desired destinations. And the comp. breakfast was amazing.....we loved the location. Will stay here again.

  • We stayed at the hotel for our honeymoon. I loved this hotel! The rooms were very clean and nice. The maids gave us bottles of water which was great! We didnt have to buy any they gave us so much! It was within walking distance of alot of NYC attractions. I would stay here again and I would recommend this hotel!

  • Almost new hotel, very clean room, friendly staff (to a person), comfy beds, over the top continental bfast, business center, Internet, fitness room... by far the best experience Ive had in a hotel at this price. In Midtown within two blocks Empire State, Madison Square & Penn Station. Run, dont walk to stay here! Thanks for a great vacation!

  • This hotel was centrally located, close to the subway, within walking distance of major attractions. The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility was clean, room space adequate, king bed comfortable. A full breakfast was offered each day. It was great.

  • We stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham for 3 days. The pictures on the internet are quite misleading. In reality the hotel is very narrow. It is located in the ""old garment district."" The hotel was hard to spot due to the narrow street ... lots of traffic and all of the scaffolding surrounding the hotel. It felt very depressing. Although the hotel staff was pleasant enough, they were not all that helpful. Seems like everytime we were looking for information, we were told to go to the corner and get a cab. At certain times of the day...that is easier said than done. Returning to the hotel after attending Broadway shows was a little scary. Foot traffic really thins out and made walking the streets a little scary. If I had been travelling with a friend rather than my husband, I would have been too scared to walk by myself. The room was ok. We chose this hotel because the reviews said that the room seemed larger than at some hotels. That being said, it seemed quite small. The beds were not all that comfortable...seemed vey hard. The bathroom had lots of mold around the tub and rust on the backsplash. It made the bathroom feel unclean. The plus side is...it is close to Macys. My last comment would be if you are looking for ombiance and curb appeal...this is not it!

  • This hotel is set off the main drag so you dont hear all the noise at night. I felt safe enough to walk around my myself. Theres a McDonalds, a Pharmacy, lots of things just around the corner on 8th street. Takes a bit to get to Times square but only because of all the people traffic. They have a pretty good morning breakfast buffet so you dont have to go out for that. Free High Speed Internet was wonderful. Not much a view from anywhere in thie hotel, you are back to back with other buildings. Take more time than a week, youll leave without seeing all you want to. We walked nearly everywhere but when we did take cabs, they were inexpensive and worth the ride. Take my advice, and use the hotel bathroom because theres not a clean bathroom in all of new york...

  • We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly when we checked-in. Our work was extremely clean and the maids did a great job every day during our stay. The room had a new, modern feel. The continental breakfast was a great way to save money on one meal each day during our trip. The business center was great b/c we could still check e-mail, seach websites, and print directions as necessary. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. There were only a few things that might be bothersome to other people: only two elevators that are sometimes slow (so ask to be on a lower level), the continental breakfast started to run out about 30 minutes before the end (so get there early), and there was garbage pick-up very early in the morning which was loud. However, the hotel provided earplugs and sound machines to help minimize that problem. Also, the location is great, but at night it didnt feel like the safest neighborhood. I dont think I would walk around by myself at night too often. All in all, we would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend. Ive stayed in NYC twice before and this was by far the nicest hotel.

  • We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly when we checked-in. Our work was extremely clean and the maids did a great job every day during our stay. The room had a new, modern feel. The continental breakfast was a great way to save money on one meal each day during our trip. The business center was great b/c we could still check e-mail, seach websites, and print directions as necessary. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. There were only a few things that might be bothersome to other people: only two elevators that are sometimes slow (so ask to be on a lower level), the continental breakfast started to run out about 30 minutes before the end (so get there early), and there was garbage pick-up very early in the morning which was loud. However, the hotel provided earplugs and sound machines to help minimize that problem. Also, the location is great, but at night it didnt feel like the safest neighborhood. I dont think I would walk around by myself at night too often. All in all, we would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend. Ive stayed in NYC twice before and this was by far the nicest hotel.
