  • This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are beautiful and spacious by SF standards. The staff is very helpful and so friendly. I will try to stay there every on every visit to The City! The hotel is new and convenient to Moscone Center. We parked the car for the weekend and took cabs around town. So much eaiser and less expensive than parking.

  • I was expecting something so fabulous, something state of the art, something Id never seen before. The place was only 4 days old when I checked in...but, you know, that comes with all sorts of quirks. Only two of the six elevators worked at any given time. The pool was over chlorinated. The keys deactivated. Yes, I visited the front desk often. The shower--with no tub--made no sense: youd get sprayed if you didnt set up the heads just right each time. I dont know if all the rooms have that, but that was really annoying. The room was nice--down comforter, flat screen, jumbo windows, but wasnt worth the outrageous $312+tax ""convention rate."" (Not booked thru the travel agency) I also wondered if my king size bed wasnt just a big-boned queen. For San Francisco standards, it was a fairly good sized room, but some may consider it small. Good points: close to the convention hall, snazzy decor, very new everything. Oh, and excellent hotel-issue pens. Bad points: surprisingly, the worst shower amenities Ive ever encountered. The shampoo had a weird globby texture that would sooner fall out of your hand than make it to your head, the moisturizer smelled like compost and licorice. Very manly, apparently, or else the essence of Modern. Breakfast was expensive and the area is dull and/or quiet at night. You could walk, but probably would want to take a cab everywhere. Maybe its not fair to judge a place when its so new and they have yet to wonder why everyone smells like a Good and Plenty left on the forest floor. I guess at the lower travel agency rates, Id stay there again and bring my own toiletries.

  • Just got back from a long weekend in San Francisco and we were so happy with our hotel choice. Wed gone back and forth between the boutique style hotels versus staying somewhere newer/bigger. We decided with San Fran being such a beautiful city that being in a taller hotel would give us a chance to have a great view...and what a view we had! The room and the bathroom had a wall of windows that looked out over the city. So gorgeous! The bed was SO comfortable, the room was a nice size and the bathroom was fantastic (no bathtub, but that wasnt a concern for us). Parking at the hotel can be costly, so we just parked in the parking garage next door (which was half the price). We were so happy with the service, location, and overall quality of the hotel. Wed definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

  • We had a nice weekend away in San Francisco & truly enjoyed our stay. The staff was kind and friendly, though not overly outgoing. The room was comfortable, clean & attractive, with great views of the SF skyline. My only complaint about the room was that the bathroom was a little disappointing. I was expected a better bathtub & more space, but it was very standard. We went to the lounge for dinner on the first night & were very underwhelmed by both the service & the food. The restaurant was very busy, so it may just be an issue with the lounge. I appreciated that unaccompanied women could have a security escort to & from their rooms - really nice service. The gym was nice & I liked the lap pool & the veranda outside the gym.

  • This hotel just opened, but it seems like it already has carved out a niche for itself in SOMA. Its got a similar modern vibe to the W hotel a couple of blocks away, but over the course of the weekend I noticed some subtle yet important differences. First, theres no house music bumping in the lobby. Second, it didnt look like anyone at the bar was on the prowl. (And, by the way, its a GRAPPA bar. And they have a grappa menu thats a half inch thick.) Third, our room didnt have the kitch factor of the rooms at the W (read: no backlit Buddha). What it did have was floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom and bathroom. Note: you CAN see into the hotel from the outside. Probably not an issue on the top floors, but something to consider if youre on a lower floor. These windows are awesome. Great views of the city. As for our experience, it was tops. The bartenders were cool--one of them helped me to pick a grappa from the previously mentioned grappa tome. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant (Luce) and got classy service and very big and tasty entrees. As for location, its not especially exciting to walk out the front door and find yourself on Howard and 5th, but the Westfield shopping center, SFMOMA, Moscone, Metreon, and Yerba Buena center are all within 1-2 blocks. Very convenient.

  • The hotel was excellent and the concierege service was impecable!! Large rooms, VERY comfy beds, High Speed Internet (extra), full ammenites. Now the BAD part.....when you arrive they will ask you for credit card for ""Incidentals"". This is for the bar, spa, etc. These things can be charged to your room. BE VERY AWARE....they ""reserve"" $200 PER DAY ON YOUR CREDIT CARD....and dont tell you!!! I found this out when I went to use my CC and found out they maxed it out for their ""reserve"". I understand why they do it (a spa treatment for 2 is $400), but they need to DISCLOSE this prior to check in.Outside of this......Great place, within walking distance to all public transportation (including Cable Cars), Excellent restaurants close by.Just remember that San Francisco is the HIGHEST priced city in the nation.....come with some $$$$ to enjoy yourself. Recommend the City Tour if nothing else!! Use Gray Line for tours....not the others.

  • so this place is right next to the moscone center...and i HAVE to brag about their spa. When i called to get some information over the phone, the phone person was very patient and sweet. She walked me through the different types and helped me pick out the CUSTOMIZED massage which was FANTASTIC. I picked this hotel because it was built this year, so the spa facilities were new and extremely clean. you wont find hairs on the floor or dirty towels sitting around there! I also got a facial and the esthetician mentioned that they work with murad products. i was unfamiliar with the line but she told me great things about it and i was GLOWING after my facial. Although I had some extractions, she made sure i didnt look like rudolf for my husband when he came to pick me up. Thank you!! They also said that they have a pool and the jacuzzi...which looked refreshing but i forgot to bring my swimming suit so i had to resist. all in all~your stay at the intercontinental wont be a disappointment....especially if you get a chance to enjoy their spaaa~ SPAA~ i miss you san francisco!(OH! and the building is very pretty...its practically sparking among the drab gray buildings of san francisco....)TIP: look for specials online for spa treatments and hotel deals online!!! there are TONS!

  • This hotel is a great value. Only a couple of years old and everything is beautiful and new. For the luxury, we believe we got outstanding value. It is south of Market street but only 2 blocks to the Westfield mall, BART, cable cars and F streetcars that can take you anywhere you want to go. Hi-def TV, walk-in showers, all great. Only problem was that we had booked Deluxe room through Travelocity. When we arrived, the hotel desk had us in a Standard room. Only by showing a copy of our registration printout did they give us the Deluxe without any issue. They did the right thing. Not sure if this was a hotel or Travelocity issue.

  • my friends and i spend at least every other weekend in fine san francisco hotels... we were very excited to find this new one, and booked a cumulative 5 rooms in 2 different weekends between us (2 or 3 rooms a weekend for 2 consecutive weekends) we were all very impressed! the restaurat is superb!! it had become a new favorite of ours, until the last monday morning, after a 2 night stay with 2 rooms, that we were all very disappointed! we had spent over $4000 between two rooms the weekend before, and $2000 last weekend. On the morning of checkout, 2 men knocked on my door at 8am, and requested that i cover my high balance at once... basically suggesting (in front of all my guests, and at a very indecent hour!) that they suspected i was going to dodge the bill! even though they had my credit card on file! i proceded to ask what the balance was ( i was very insulted!) and upon stating i would see if i had the money to pay for it, they acted shocked that i intended to pay cash, as if it were totally unusual! this embarrassment has cost them the business of my entire group. we spend between $2000-$3000 a weekend on hotels, so now were al taking that back to the CLIFT...

  • Wonderful hotel. Great value for the money. Had a corner room on the 16th floor with a great view of the city. The bed was the most comfortable EVER. Beautiful lobby with helpful staff. The spa was lovely. I had the deep tissue massage, my sister had the wellness treatment. My massuese walked the fine line between pain and pressure. Didnt get to use the pool but it was very nice and clean looking. Definitely the nicest hotel Ive ever stayed at.

  • I grew up in the city and while its nice to check out the quaint and original primitve post quake places around Union Sq. we love the Icntl as the most friendly, hip and easy to get to in entire SFO. Off the bay bridge or 101 you simply pull in on Howard, drop off the bags with 15 min park and drive back up 5th on to the giant Muni parking garage around the corner on MInna then traipse down the alley back to the front entrance a short block. Lets you in and out at will or leave for less than 1/2 the valet rate. Great fluffy beds, large bath, big windows, easy shopping on all sides and up to Mkt St and new and clean as a the training room in a school for maids. Great for biz needs set up. Good restaurant but in a city of GREAT restaurants and theres that easy in and out garage next door. If really cheap? Is a greasy spoon Dennys on MIssion across garage.

  • My girlfriend and I went to stay here for our two year anniversary. The trip was beyond both our expectations?, we learned of this new hotel and said we have to check this place out. I had notified the staff we were celebrating our anniversary and when I arrived at the airport was told to call and let them know when we touched down. When we arrived to our location, the hotel stuck out immediately and I was impressed with the new modern design in the already trendy SoMa district. Once we arrived to our room, we had hot food and chilled champagne ready in our room, perfectly set up. We had a card from the general manager congratulating us on our two years and from there on out the hotel and their staff treated us like royalty. We were on a first name basis and assisted us with every thing from limousines to hot night spots to great eateries. I would stay here again and in fact going back there in mid august.

  • We booked the deluxe room with parking and breakfast included. I went back to the front desk after looking at the room (which was fine, but lacking much of anything deluxe about it) and was told ""yes, that is a deluxe room."" Regardless, it was on a high floor (26th floor) and was fine, but nothing special unless you are impressed with by a large flat screen TV and a good view. The hotel really is more of a modern, business-oriented convention hotel (close to Moscone Center) than a top-end destination hotel. Bathroom was ok, but nothing deluxe about it and not as nice as many other SF hotels. At breakfast we encountered a line of about 25 people waiting to be seated by a single, rather slow hostess. At check out we were told that my rate/package does not include parking. When I told the desk clerk that it did she seemed to not quite believe me. Fortunately, I had the printout from my online travel website reservation and gave it to her (it noted that the rate included parking, which is nearly $50/day). Off she went to talk to the manager and finally said that the would not charge me and blamed the online travel website for ""not sending in a full reservation."" This place is fine, but I expected something a bit better given all these rave reviews.

  • The room was very nice, service was great. Be warned though we paid $52.44 for parking for one night and was not informed untill we checked out. I did feel very safe leaving my car there though with the 24 hour security. There is also a bottle of evian water in the room that is $8 if you drink it and they will try to add the charge to your bill when you check out. If you dont drink it make sure you let them know. Is an awsome place to stay if you are planning to see a show at the warfield

  • The hotel is fantastic. It is upscale business with a casual feel. We had everything we wanted and needed, but at a price. The staff was very obliging and helpful. They almost knew us by name and always asked if they could do more. The hotel is large and accomodating. There are not that many restaraunts or clubs/bars within the hotel block, so be prepared to walk or drive. The location is in downtown, close to Chinatown and almost directly across from the Metreon. The area around the hotel at night is slightly shady, but the hotel was very safe. The parking in San Francisco and around the hotel is insane. Be prepared to pay up to $60 for parking a night here, and $5-$20 around the city. It was expensive but the valet parking at the hotel was exceedingly convenient. The rooms are comfortable and modern, and the beds will feel like heaven after a long day in the city. There are a few open air balconies that give a good break for smokers. The view from some points in the hotel are slightly obscured by the surrounding buildings, and the bay was invisible from our room. Overall the hotel was great.

  • This hotel has a beautiful view of San Francisco. The rooms are spacious. The rooms have more amenities than most including a HDTV. The location is next to the convention center. Shopping, restaurants, and public transportation are nearby. The staff is first class. I will definitely stay here again.
