  • I recently met out of town friends from east and west coast here. I would not hesitate for a second to do the same weekend all over again. The resorts spanish-tuscan flair is so comfortable. outside and inside fireplaces, multiple pools and hot tub areas, a full day easily can be spent just at the spa and the outside weather is just a bonus. the camelback mountain backdrop is surreal and offers the easy option of outdoor exercise from biking or hiking. The dining- for dinner: I had a beautiful rib-eye, friends had lambchops, paella, salmon, we had calamari, and stuffed dates for an appetizer along with a beautiful pinot. another night we dined at another great restaurant in nearby Scottsdale....dining...so many great options nearby. The rooms were just beautiful, so comfortable and the service came to help w/anything we requested from a humidifier, to some tea b/c one of us had some sinus problems before the vacation started. The spa treatments all stayed very aware of this too, and try to work through it. Yoga and cycling glasses offered and an incredible gym. easily could have stayed longer. Arrived on a thursday afternoon and left sunday AM...wished I had had all day sunday then it would truly have been the perfect R&R weekend. Would love my company to organize a business conference here!!

  • I recently spent a long weekend at this resort and spa and can easily say it is the most luxurious, yet friendly and relaxed place I have ever stayed at. Having traveled to similar destinations with my husbands company I can compare it to resorts from Hawaii to Montreal and many places in between, yet nothing compares to the InterContinental Montelucia. The grounds are magnificent, complete with infinity pool, roaring outdoor fireplaces, beautiful views and an abundance of places to sit back and relax, whether it be poolside, a quiet garden corner, or quaint cafe for a bite to eat. The on site spa is nothing short of amazing, complete with a fully equiped gym that offers an array of exercise classes to its guests for no extra charge. The food and service we experienced on site were both excellent as well. There would be no reason to ever leave the grounds once you have checked in for a wonderful, relaxing vacation. Suitable to bring the whole family to as well. Highly recommend!

  • My husband and I spent a week here. Greatly enjoyed our stay. The resort is beautiful, the rooms were very luxurious, and the staff were all very friendly and accomodating. We used the gym and yoga facilities daily, which was wonderful. We also enjoyed the layout of the grounds....nice to walk between our room location and the other parts of the resort. Our only complaints...minor ones: Food seemed a little overpriced. Good, but overpriced. $7-9 for a bowl of oatmeal? - The adults only pool was poorly staffed. OUr first night we went out to use the hot tub, and there were close to 20 towels left laying out around the pool area. The next days they did keep the area cleaned up better, but they hadnt opened up the bar and food building for the pool, so if you wanted a drink, you had to get dressed, walk to another part of the resort, get your drink, and then head back. We asked about it at the front desk, and were told they were slow, but someone else told us they were 100% booked. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend this resort, they just have a few minor kinks to work out.

  • The resort and spa were beautiful, elegant and luxurious yet friendly and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our spectacular suite with its Moroccan design, delicious dinner at Prado, morning coffee and snacks at Crave, and unforgettable day at the Joya Spa (my colleagues even commented how healthy my skin looked!). Flying to Phoenix is a breeze and the Montelucia is about 15 minutes away with a fantastic location near Camelback Mountain and great shopping in Scottsdale. I want to go back!

  • I stay at InterContinental hotels whenever possible as an Ambassador Club Member. Both in the States as well as overseas, the brand offers consistent comfort, excellent service and usually great locations. Most recently, stayed at the new Intercontinental Montelucia Resort and Spa located in Scottsdale, AZ. It is an amazing resort that once inside, immediately reminded me and my wife of an European vacation we took years ago. It offered a beautiful setting overlooking Camelback Mountain and excellent service. Upon arrival, the Bellmen at the front drive took us on a tour and provided great information about the property and activities both inside and the surrounding area. The Spa is incredible and the restaurant offered a great menu that complimented the resort theme. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the upgraded room amenities brought sophistication to the stay. The entire resort staff went out of their way to make my wife and I welcome and comfortable. What an awesome treat especially from a property that just opened !

  • We stayed for 5 nights. Friendly checkin, but a long walk to the back of the property for our room. Beds and bathroom were excellent, but oversized table and chairs blocked the patio door and it was hard to maneuver around them. Kasbah pool area was large and offered shaded areas, but the annoying music moved us to the smaller, non staffed Oasis pool. The Spa and exercise area was great, brand new and uniquely thought out. Pricing on spa services was difficult to obtain. Breakfast was good, but the restaurant focus was too narrow for most. Great views all around. Extra fees for parking and ""resort services"" seemed over the top. Smaller, cozy feeling on one hand, but with all the patios (save the perimeter buildings) facing the heavily used walkways, privacy on the balcony cannot be expected. Great outdoor seating all over the resort invites you to sit and enjoy the desert.

  • We stayed at the Intercontinental Montelucia in Paradise Valley, AZ for four nights in April (2009) and enjoyed every minute of our time there. The room was large, comfortable, and quite beautiful with fabulous bedding and a luxurious bathroom that could easily house a family of four! The staff was uniformly friendly, courteous and very accommodating and our room was upgraded without any request on our part. The Kasbah section of the property, where our room was located, is gorgeous and extremely well maintained, with a Moroccan flair that includes lovely and varied earth tones to the various buildings as well as the most beautiful hand-wrought iron fencing I have ever seen. We absolutely loved our time at the enormous pool with its perfect water temperature, enjoyable music and soothing fountains at either end of the pool The large deck area has plentiful lounges for ""snoozing"" and umbrellas for shade. There are numerous colorful urns of varying sizes that overflow with a profusion of flowers about that are just delightful and the many firepits, outdoor fireplaces and gas lampposts throughout the property add a wonderful touch-both aesthetic and warming-in the evening. There is even a telescope in one patio area for guests use to stargaze and to view the Camelback Mountains up close as well as bicycles that guests can ride around the expansive property, if they so choose. It is evident that the Montelucia was well-planned with every detail attended to in creating a glorious oasis that is self-contained and focused on guests total relaxation. I found every member of the staff we encountered to be unfailingly courteous and well-trained, making customer service seem effortless. We loved this place and would return in a heartbeat!

  • We fly got to the Intercontinental Montelucia after a long day of traveling. When we arrived at the front desk, they informed us that they didnt have a room for us and would have to put us in a hotel across the street for the night. The manager didnt seem to fully understand why we were so frustrated but we didnt have any other choice. They told us they would upgrade us for the rest of the trip. When we got back to the Montelucia on Saturday, they still didnt have a room for us. After a short wait, we were put into a beautiful room that wasnt an upgrade at all but still very nice. The rooms were beautiful, the pools were amazing and the staff was friendly. However, there are few choices of dinning on property and their signature restuarant wasnt that great for the price. When we got back from a day at the pool, we found a gift of wine and cheese from the hotel management as an apology for the previous discomfort. It is a beautiful hotel and we would love to go back if we could be assured a room when we got there.*I however, would NEVER book a trip through online travel webs ite again because when there is a problem, you have to call their customer service help line before the hotel/airline can give you any sort of a refund. After being home for 5 days, we are still in contact with online travel website to recieve our promised refund for Friday night. The hotel has credited x for the night, but we have not been credited from x. Book directly through the hotel...in the end, no money has been saved from using online travel website*

  • My husband and I stayed here and loved it. Everything about this resort was relaxing. If you do stay here make sure to visit the spa for some ""me time"" my husband and I got massges and relaxed and it was incredible. The staff was great. We were going to eat at the restaurant for dinner, but the girl said they had no time for the night so we made the mistake of eating at the Sanctuary restaurant Element. We wished we hadnt gone there by the way. We did get a chance to eat breakfast at the resort and the staff was awesome and it was delicious.I highly recommend this hotel!!!!!!

  • My wife and I recently spent a long weekend at the new Intecontinental Montelucia Resort & Spa, and it was pure heaven. From the moment we arrived, we truly felt as if we were transformed to another world. The design and architecture of this palce is truly amazing. The attention to detail and all of the original European antiques make this a must see place. The view of Camelback Mountain from our room was stunning, with the main pool area just beneith our balcony. Of course this was a premium room, but very worth it. The patio was awesome, and we took full advantage of this great feature. We had dinner in Prado restaurant, and spent the entire day in the spa. The spa is a must do when you are there. I am not as keen on spa as my wife, but I have to say that I loved the spa day. Each morning we enjoyed the little gourmet coffee shop, which had an amazing selection of coffee. We have enjoyed many great resorts around the world, and this new resort in Arizona is now our favorite. We highly recommend that you stay there!

  • My husband and I had always wanted to be one of the first to stay at a brand new resort, especially something grand and 5 star-esque. When we heard about the opening of the new Montelucia Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, we jumped at the opportunity for a weekend adventure away from the rain in Seattle. Our goals were weather escape and relaxation. All I can say is we have never stayed at a resort characterized with unique design details and style. The views of Camelback Mountain are straight out of a postcard. Take my advice and upgrade to a view room of Camelback Mountain and pray for one of those classic desert sunsets with the pinks, purples, and reds. We hiked Camelback Mountain on Saturday morning and walked right to the head of the trail from the resort. Pretty amazing. Dont worry no rattlesnakes. The rooms are HUGE with what is perhaps the largest shower I have ever been in. The bed rivaled the Heavenly Bed (my favorite) and my husband just couldnt get over the paella in Prado Restaurant. You see, he is a bit of a seafood snob (look where we come from) and the paella was amazing with shrimp and scallops and other abundance. The paella is a ""have to have"". The pool was warm and the poolside ambience was very calming and relaxing. I read 100 pages in a book that I have been meaning to catch up on for a year. It was great. My best advice is to not miss out. If you dont try this place out, you dont really know what a rejuvenating desert resort experience can be.

  • This is truly a beautiful property - you think you are in Spain! We had a girls weekend and experienced everything at the resort - the restaurant (Prado) was great, the little cafe (Crave) also serves snacks, sandiwches, coffees all day and has a cute fireplace and tables to sit at outside. The spa is quite fabulous, with some private treatment rooms that open up to a heated pool and amazing views of camelback mountain. We also enjoyed the gym and free exercise classes ( yoga & spin). We loved the decor, and service. the resort was very self contained, great pools ( 3 of them) a kids club, and nice views and location in Scottsdale/Paradise Valley. We would definately recommend this for a girls weekend, couples, family getaway, or meeting. We loved it and cant wait to go back!

  • I just arrived back from a ""girls weekend"" to celebrate one of my sisters 40th birthday at an incredible resort & spa. We fly in from all over the US and spent an incredible 4 days getting ""pampered."" It was as-if we had been transported to another place. The property was strategically located by camel back mountain, providing spectacular sunsets & sunrises. We strolled around the grounds amongst the multiple pool area, and in the evenings stopped by the one of several fireside areas to sip on wine and chart of old times. We spent our days either in the spa (which is its own experience), in yoga or spin class, by the pool (we had our own private villa pool & hot-tub), riding bikes provided by the resort, and strolling along the shops & resturaunts in nearby Scottsdale. Our first evenings dinner was filled with great tapas, wine, and scrumpcious meats & fishes that melted in your mouth. The chief even visited our table to make sure all was well. Our private villa was like its own gettaway, decorated with exquisite taste and not leaving any detail (even candles by the deep seated tub and flat screen TVs in every room, including bathroom). This could also be a great place for a leadership conference, and of course for a wedding or fund raiser. All of which were going on while we were there, yet we still felt like special treat guest. And the bellmen were so friendly and ready to wisk you anywhere on property via their golf carts. Definately definately visit this property, you wont be sorry.
