  • This hotel is in a great location with a great price, but its misleading to believe that these are 4 Star rooms. I have seen much better at 3 Star Hotels. I complained to the staff about the pictures online being deceiving, and the response was that they do have rooms like the ones online but they are reserved only for the guests who book directly through the hotel, and not through travel companies. I was very disappointed.

  • This hotel is in a great location with a great price, but its misleading to believe that these are 4 Star rooms. I have seen much better at 3 Star Hotels. I complained to the staff about the pictures online being deceiving, and the response was that they do have rooms like the ones online but they are reserved only for the guests who book directly through the hotel, and not through travel companies. I was very disappointed.

  • I got a great deal from Travel agent for a 4-night stay at this hotel. I was a little worried about the negtive feedback I saw for this hotel, but went anyway. So glad I did! The check-in was later than 3pm, which I didnt like, but it got better from there. The room was immaculate. I requested and received a high floor. I was on the 22nd floor with an amazing view of the CN Tower. The location was right in the center of everything. It was like 2 blocks from Eaton Centre and Younge St. The cleaning staff were so nice and brought ice to the room every night. Leave them a tip every morning and they are so thankful! Stay away from the mini-bar and bring your own. The bottled water on the bedside desk are free. I didnt know that until later. They also feature free local calls, which is different than other places I have stayed. I didnt bring the laptop, but they have Internet connections available for like $*/day. The pool and fitness area are quite small, but adequate. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.

  • I was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice, quiet, classy hotel for such a good price in the middle of downtown Toronto. It's a short walk to the subway, opera house, good restaurants, etc. The room was very nicely appointed--triple sheeting, down duvet, good-sized desk, coffee maker--and the concierges were extremely helpful and nice. Nice indoor pool, adequate workout room. I'd definitely stay there again.

  • We went to the metropolitan for our honeymoon and the service was almost always stellar. The front desk staff were quite friendly and extremely helpful with both big and small requests. Both restaurants (Lai Wah Heen and Hemispheres) had excellent food (although a bit pricey, absolutely worth it). We recommend the chefs special pizza in Hemispheres bistro. Its not always on the menu but if you ask for it, youll be pleasantly surprised. Room service was just fine. The second night we had to move rooms to get an ethernet connection, so it doesnt appear that all of their ""luxury"" rooms have it, as they seem to advertise. The first room was on the 23rd floor and was a very clean, almost new-looking room. The second room was on the 7th floor and, while identical in layout, was a little more beat up (read: used), but not detractingly so. The internet connection is 10MB, so a little slower, but acceptable. The lobby has free (unsecured) wireless if you dont get it in your room.Room service was expensive (as expected) but very fast and pleasant. We did not visit the pool area or the fitness center (both of which they have), so I cannot speak to the quality of those areas.The location of the hotel is nearly perfect. Walking out the front door you turn left to hit Dundas street. From there, if you turn right youll hit Eaton center and the square in a couple blocks for great shopping (and people watching). Turning left (perhaps hop a streetcar) will get you into Chinatown. Queen is just a few streets south (West Queen is an amazing art/music/clothes district). Overall, you get what you pay for. Its a great hotel with efficient, friendly staff and more than reasonable accomodations.

  • Room was small for two people. Limited closet space. No table or seating to enjoy eating in or room service. No special touches. Reservation indicated a ""luxury"" room, but Ive had much nicer accommodations at Holiday Inns and Hampton Inns. Both restaurants were excellent in every way. Concierge was not very helpful.

  • We arrived early and were told check in time was three pm, checked our bags with the concierge and wen to to lunch. Upon returning at three the front desk person said ""rooms not ready yet youll have to wait."" Sat in the lobby for 15 min. went back to the front desk and inquired about our room again the answer was a terse ""its not ready."" Waited 15 min. more went back to the desk same reply. I said that I thought check in was 3pm and was told that one couldnt check in before 3pm but 3pm was just the starting time to check in you couldnt actually check in until the room was ready.I asked for the Manager.The Manager was actually polite and apologetic that the room wasnt yet clean but didnt seem to have a solution either. I told him that I didnt have a specific room in mind any clean room would do. I had been traveling since five in the morning, was meeting friends for dinner at six and attending our two year old Godchilds birthday party and would like to shower, wrap some presents and not be late for the party. Just then a room became available.The hotel itself was clean and well appointed. All other staff was polite and helpful. The front of the house personel should not be allowed to interact with the public! Or at least be trained before they become the publics first impresssion of the Hotel.Stayed at the Royal York last visit, will again next vist. Going to San Francisco next month and I will be using travelocity because of this forum, I at least can vent a little but more importantly offer the Hotel and other travelers feedback on our experience. Thank You.

  • Overall this hotel was okay but when we look at the rating, it was not in line with its rating.The TV was awkwardly arranged in a cabinet with a bar and you could only open the door but so far and you had to be lying in bed to actually see the TV.In addition, unfortunately, our Airline-Air Canada lost our luggage. We instructed the airline of the date of our departure. On the morning we checked out (4:30AM) our luggage arrived later that day and the hotel held it because their record showed as if we were still there.We called back after we arrived back home and had to clarify and still close out our account.Overall this left a poor impression of how business is run there.Thank you.

  • NICE SIZE ROOM (KING BED). VERY CLEAN EVERY DAY FRESH TOWELS AND TERRY CLOTH ROBES. STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE ONLY BAD THING WAS THE POOL WAS CLOSED AND THEY DID NOT TELL US UNTIL WE HAD ALREADY CHECKED IN AND WE WERE THERE DURING THE AUG 2008 CARIBANA. SO VERY HAPPY BUT DRY. AS LONG AS THE POOL IS OPEN I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN. VERY GOOD AREA TO WALK TO EVERYTHING. HAD A BALL

  • This hotel was close to everything or at least close to plenty of streetcars and subway stops. The room had a great view and was nice and clean. I didnt interact with many staff members beyond the front desk at check in and check out but everyone seemed very nice and helpful.

  • Upon entering our room on the 20th floor, the instant we opened the door there was a strange odor. I went to the window by the bed to set the air conditioner and realized the carpet was wet. I saw a maintenance guy in the hall and he said that the unit had been leaking but they had gotten it fixed. He got housekeeping to come up to the room and use a large machine to spray chemicals on the carpet to try and get rid of the smell. After going out to dinner and returning, the smell was even more sickening, smelling like mildew. I went down to the front desk to ask to change rooms and was informed by the clerk that the only room available was on the smoking floor. I phoned my husband in the room and he said absolutely not since neither of us liked the smell of smoke. Our room was the lesser of two evils. I asked the clerk if there wasnt something they could do for us, and his reply was ""you can check out of the hotel but youll be paying $ to $ a night for a room if youre lucky"". I asked to speak to the manager and he informed me the manager was not in. He said he would relay the message and have the manager come check out the room, but the manager never showed. Some guy from housekeeping was kind enough to bring me a pair of bedroom slippers so my feet wouldnt get wet when I got out of bed. Needless to say, the carpet dried the next day, the room still stunk, and we got no apology or any kind of concession for our suffering noses. I would never use this hotel again.
